  1. I have a double feed issue. I have been chasing this for a while. My ejector was broken, that helped. I ended up with some Dawson mags those helped. Yesterday I was shooting SC state and had 4 double feeds on the first 4 stages. I had shot the gun the day before about 300 rounds with no issues so I asked myself "what changed". I went from my practice ammo (same load same bullets etc) where the cases are just not polished as much. I polish the crap out of my match stuff so it runs through the press better and I get a little better accuracy. Well I switch back to my kind of not so shiny practice ammo and the issue goes away for the last 4 stages. Kind of makes sense as the 2nd round is slipping under the first one and jamming it. More friction between the round and the feed lips keeps it in place a little better?? Does this make any sense to anyone else. SS nationals in 6 days, guess I have to load a bunch of practice ammo.
  2. I have seen items and was unsure of a fact or description and sent a PM in this format: As long as XXX is true, tell me where to send the money. That seems to work pretty well. As far as having anything to say about the sale until "I will take it" that is not ever expected by me.
  3. Nice one. I have been given "if you are finished..." had the mag dropped and saw a standing piece of steel. Shot the steel strong hand, then showed the RO the empty gun. At that time the RO calmly said "if clear, hammer down and holster".
  4. If, when reaching in his pocket, his "reaching" hand was forward and in front of the muzzle, IMO it would be a DQ. The hand is not a lower extremity. If I was running that shooter, as soon as he put his hand in his pocket on the same side as his holster, I would have stopped him, "Unload and show clear", and then told him to finish his "pocket business" and then go back to make ready. Fishing in your pocket (for whatever reason) is not an appropriate action after the "make ready". This doesn't mean that taking a mag out of another pocket other than the one under the holster to load a Barney round falls into the same category. Really? Please read 10.5.5.1 again...specifically "10.5.5.1 Exception...(some text removed for brevity) ...Sweeping does not apply to a handgun holstered in compliance with Rules 5.2.1 and 5.2.7." Really. Since when is the hand a lower extremity? The text you left out for brevity reads "10.5.5.1 Exception - A match disqualification is not applicable for sweeping of the lower extremities (below the belt)...... " Anyway, that's the way I look at it. The rest of that rule is somewhat contradictory, In the first part it says that the exception is applicable while drawing or reholstering the handgun, then says "This exception is only for holstered handguns." ???? Which one is it? Both? I still wouldn't want a shooter to be digging around in his/her pockets after the "make ready" command. It is not at all ambiguous. Lets break it down. Part 1: A match disqualification is not applicable for sweeping of the lower extremities (below the belt) while draw-ing or re-holstering of the handgun, provided that the competi-tor’s fingers are clearly outside of the trigger guard. (Period) Part 1-1: This exception is only for holstered handguns. (Period) Part 2: Sweeping does not apply to a handgun holstered in compliance with Rules 5.2.1 and 5.2.7 Part 2 is very specific and you are going to stop someone. Please read the rule with the punctuation not as a run on sentence. Here is the whole rule as it is in the book. 10.5.5.1 Exception – A match disqualification is not applicable for sweeping of the lower extremities (below the belt) while drawing or re-holstering of the handgun, provided that the competitor’s fingers are clearly outside of the trigger guard. This exception is only for holstered handguns. Sweeping does not apply to a handgun holstered in compliance with Rules 5.2.1 and 5.2.7 It is not what you feel, it is what is written.
  5. You can see the time and hits on the PS website, just not in the same format. USPSA gives you points and a percentage, PS gives you hit count and points but no percentage. Look for the View Individual Results link No they don't have to upload the results.
  6. I have used Trips, Dawsons, and Wilsons. Trips worked great for a while but to keep them working I had to keep an eye on the feed lips. Seems like the metal is a bit soft and they spread out after a while. As to them being dirty, I just clean any magazine every time I drop it. Wilsons worked OK after messing with the springs. On most I had to cut 1 or 2 coils off the spring to make it run 10 rounds in the magazine. They were a complete PITA to clean but they did run very well after tuning. Dawsons came out of the box working and are easy to clean. Only had them for a short time so long term opinion will have to wait. I did notice it was hard to get a round out of the mag with my finger. When I looked it was because you tend to push on the top part of the bullet and that makes it nose dive. If you push on the bullet with an object like my squib rod where I can push from a little lower it unloads very well. Currently I have 5 or 6 Wilsons I never shoot because I hate to clean them, a few Trips that are due for a tune up, and a ton of Dawson's I shoot all the time.
  7. I am assuming the popper did not fall and that he had a visible hit or the target was not getting painted. 4.3.1.2 That the calibration will be done from a point on the COF where the calibration zone is available, closest to where the contested shot was fired. No harm in scoring the stage except having to do it again if he gets a re-shoot.
  8. I would not ever leave an activator alone unless I was sure it could not go down. Just my luck, RM shows up and his shot takes it down. I lose that target and whatever it activated as well.
  9. Was it the first shooter on the stage in the match or did the stage change over time?
  10. 5.1.7.1 The substitute handgun satisfies the requirements of the relevant Division. 5.1.7.2 In using the substitute handgun the competitor will not gain a competitive advantage. I guess he could be saying it gave you a competitive advantage but why then would you start with the other gun? I don't think it should be an issue unless you just wanted to change for the 100 yard standards course, then switch back.
  11. Fight the auto urge, picking up hulls is a PITA and you will hate the hulls ejecting across your body. There are lots of good quality used OU in your price range, even a few good quality new ones are in your reach. Get a sporting gun if you are going to shoot clays or you will have to remember to take the gun off safe every time. Nice in the woods, otherwise a pain.
  12. At all 3 of the monthly's I go to it would be a DQ.
  13. You can modify the grips, It must fit in the box, and can't look like a recoil reducing device. If you somehow molded a thumb rest on there you would have an issue. As it is, you are just putting on custom grips which is allowed. I use a set of grips that make the gun feel like a 2011 and have had no issues at large USPSA or IPSC matches including the World Shoot. Page 85-86 of the current rule book spell it out pretty well.
  14. If all you got was a procedural you were lucky. Should have been 2 mikes and an FTE assuming 2 shots per target. Yes you can activate it after your last shot if you like.
  15. Try this; Get some dummy ammo, load a mag with 2 live, then 1 dummy, 2 live, 1 dummy. The point is to know where the dummy is. Now fire two shots, know the dummy is next and see what happens when you pull the trigger. Not my idea but pretty amazing results when I did it.
  16. Hmmmm....sounds familiar... ???????? about people getting dead on her watch? Edit Took out name to keep it non political
  17. If the competitor changed their rig for that stage that was contrary to the rule and the RO's on the stage should have noticed. Lots to think about on match day and we all make mistakes. The number and location of holster, mag pouches, and any other equipment, by rule, should stay the same for the whole match. If people changed their setup for that stage and changed it back that was against the rules. There is nothing in the rules that says you can't change equipment, just the location of the equipment. Should USPSA clarify that rule, I don't think so but that is just an opinion and we all are entitled to our own. I wouldn't care if 5.2.5.3 went away. It would add something else to think about when you walked a stage. In IPSC they go to a lot of trouble to make sure you don't change equipment or location of equipment. It is a PITA to do equipment checks each stage, most IPSC RO's don't do it well, and I would hate to see USPSA adopt those rules.
  18. That WOULD be a problem. It's called cheating! Please clarify for explanation sake. Not disagreeing with you, just want a little more than "it's cheating". 5.2.5.3 - Equipment on belt can not be moved or CHANGED during the match. Unless specified in the written stage briefing, or unless required by a Range Officer, the position of holsters and allied equipment on the belt must not be moved or changed by a competitor during a match. (my emphases added) You have to use the whole sentence. When you do, it is clear that "the position" is what can't be moved or changed. If it said just "Equipment" it would be different but not only do you ignore the first part of the sentence, you capitalize equipment to make it look like it is the beginning of the sentence. If you are going to quote a rule at least quote whole sentences, and don't change them. edit to fix spelling.
  19. THIS. If you remove Holster #1 and put it in your range bag, then place Holster #2 on your belt, I would contend that you have changed the position of Holster #1 (moved it from your belt to your range bag). As an official, I would refer any such request to the RM for approval, in the same way as I would for a gun change. However, I am not sure how I would know the holster was being changed unless the competitor told me or I saw them making the change right in front of me. I can take my belt and equipment off, as long as I put my gun up and put the belt back on in the same place. By your definition is that changing the position of Holster #1 as I took it off? Nowhere in that rule does it say you can't change holsters. If you change guns you need to ask the RM, holsters or other stuff not so much as long as you keep them in the same position.
  20. the position of holsters and allied equipment on the belt must not be moved or changed by a competitor during a match. The rule seems to be pretty specific in addressing position, not equipment. Pretty sure the intent was to stop people from rearranging their belt to fit the stage, not to stop you from replacing an item that broke.
  21. I don't believe there is a rule prohibiting the muzzle from rising above the berm during a reload. Rule 10.4.1 issues a DQ for a shot over the berm, but not for raising the muzzle over the berm while reloading. Not our berm, the one behind us. In other words, it was pointed far enough past the 180 to have the bullet leave out of our bay on the up range side and then go over the bay behind us and go over their berm.
  22. Yes, and that is what I have always called. I am going to touch base with the range master that made the call.
  23. The brain fart I referenced was what 10.5.3 was when I wrote the post. Not what the call was. I called the correct DQ and rule then got overruled by an RM using the wrong rule.
