My cylinder bore Mossberg 930 only knocks down about half the plates and poppers at 15 yards with #5,6 and 7-1/2 shot. So i sent my barrel to Guncat (Rose Action Sports), who threaded the barrel for chokes. I should have it back any day. My Browning A-5 with modified fixed choke and my Rem 1100 with Imp Cyl knocks them down easily out to 20 yards plus. Guncat threaded my barrel for $65 which included shipping back. Then i ordered the $5 modified, extended choke from mossberg. Mossberg shipping is $6, but they are slow as Christmas.

Rem 1100 Tac4 Daves Easyloader adjustment help
gotigers replied to 3gunnut's topic in Shotgun - Technical
Is the easyloader full length. I had to cut the easyloader. I cut 1/4" to 3/8" off of the length. At full length, the mass of the easyloader would cause the bolt to close on empty. Once cut, it worked better. I have installed 2, they are a PITA. I wont do it again. -
Interested in your multi-gun Mossberg 930 pics

Yesterday, i bought a 18.5" home security for $510 OTD. Last night i ordered Nordic +4 ext, charging bolt, low drag follower, $139. Tomorrow i will be ordering the 24" non-ported barrel from Edna, $170+/-. At that point i will have $818+/- in it. I will sale the 18.5" barrel. At this point i won't worry about the other 3 gun mods. I might get to them in the summer. I will post a pic after i get the barrel. -
I am ready to buy a Mossberg, but really dont want to go thru the 2-3 week hassle of ordering a barrel, then selling the barrel i have. I will not break even, so a $500 shottie will cost me a bit more. Mossberg really needs to jump on this.

Rem 1100 recoil vs non-ported Moss 930 recoil
gotigers replied to gotigers's topic in Shotgun - Technical
I guess i need to shoot a 930. Does the 1100's lighter recoil make up for its other short comings? Here's the deal, i have an old 1100. So far it shoots reliably, but it shoots to the right and when loading 1 in 4 shells catch and shells keep getting caught, jamming the lifter. I want a new shotgun. No more used. I really can't afford a Benelli. The FN's are nice, but i dont want to deal with the 3 gun set up i keep reading about. I could buy a Mossie 930, set it up for 3 gun well under $750. Is the Mossberg's recoil just noticably harder or is it much more? -
Rem 1100 recoil vs non-ported Moss 930 recoil
gotigers replied to gotigers's topic in Shotgun - Technical
It won't be my only input. At this point is is the only unknown that i need to know. Not that it is a deal breaker, but i just want to fill in the blanks. -
I did a search and looked back several pages. I am sorry if my search-foo was weak. Which has lighter recoil Rem 1100 or non-ported Moss 930? Both field models, no road blocker, no ported chokes, no ports, etc.

Thanks for the pics. It shows plenty. It gives me another option over buying an new barrel from Mossberg and selling mine. I guess i could have it soldered on.

can we get a close up of the port cover?

The $550 SX2 looks like an old ad from the last black friday. Cabelas has them $900 plus now. -
The tang on the easy loader hits the release. The bolt should release when the Easyloader about an 1/8 of an inch from the receiver. If it doesnt get that close, it may take some fitting the tang with a stone, fine file or fine grit sand paper. Small bit and test. If it continues to drop closer than that. You may need to shorten the Easyloader a 1/4 inch or so. The extra mass will facilitate the bolt not holding open on empty or release when unwanted. I had to file my tang a bit and shorten the easyloader by about 3/8" to get it to work. But now it works every time. a tutorial: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=305257

Any drills to reduce overgripping with strong hand?
gotigers replied to gotigers's topic in Training Techniques
as i said in my original post:, "I am aware of some M&P pros shooting low with 115gr and the POA/POI with the F/O front sight. That is another matter." I shot this gun off a bag a couple of times, several hundred rounds. The pistol is shooting POI/POA. The low shooting is me. The cramping thumb muscle plus my shooting buddy and i noticed an obvious overgrip on some shots right as i pull the trigger. I am positive it is an overgrip issue. I need to train to stop doing it. I don't know any drills that may help. So, i am looking for any drills that may help with this. -
Any drills to reduce overgripping with strong hand?
gotigers replied to gotigers's topic in Training Techniques
I shoot isosceles stance. -
I am shooting an M&P 9 Pro with the large palm swell. I was shooting off a bag saturday and noticed my thumb near my palm on my strong hand was cramping. Then, yesterday, at the action pistol range practicing i noticed i was still gripping hard when i pulled the trigger. Both days i was shooting very low. I tried the other palm swells, but they are just to small for my hand. I am aware of M&P pros shooting low with 115gr and the POA/POI with the F/O front sight. That is another matter. Does anyone know of any drills that may help me stop or reduce overgripping? Thanks

A little thing I like to call the telephone. Thanks, everyone loves a smart arse. I dont have that option during work hours. Emails or other online communications works for me.

I put calipers on my stock front site. It measured .210 tall to the top x .110 wide. What is it called out to be by S&W?
-
How much lower will the pull weight be with the apex comp kit installed compared to a stock M&P pro? How does this affect warranty? On the APEX site i left a message, but never got an answer. Anyone have a better way of contacting APEX?
-
How do you use the sights on you M&P Pro? I traditionally used option 1. Option 1 shoots 4 inches low at 15 yards. Option 2 shoots 1-2 inches low at 15 yards. Option 3 shoots 2-4 inches high. This all using 115gr FMJ WWB.

another +1 for Shooters Connection. I ordered my holster yesterday, got it today.
-
I read that, but i had a shooter telling me that stock was .160. I was just double checking. .020 over 25 yards is +/- 3.5" using straight line geometry and no ballistics.

How tall is the M&P Pro factory F/O front sight?

After reading this i ordered a Blade Tech DOH from Shooters Connection. It is the only shop i could find them in stock. I was wanting one for a shoot saturday. It will be here thursday. SC is close to Memphis, UPS ground is 1 day shipping. Thanks for pointing me to SC.

Very cool. I would prefer the belt loop anyways. Thanks for the tip.
