I think I'm just going to stick with my G34 for SSP and use the CZ 85 for ESP. Just seems like sooner or later (and probably sooner for me) I would lose the hammer and get a DQ and I can't imagine a scenario where that kind of "chance" would be worth it. Maybe I'm over thinking the possibility.
Did either of you guys ever have a R.O. let you draw the pistol from "half-cock" position? I don't know if that meets "Big Match" rule requirements or not but it seems alot safer than taking the hammer clear to the firing pin.
That's correct. I had to manually lower the hammer for SSP. I shot this way at this year's Florida IDPA match. None of the SOs had any issue with it.
Did you ever feel like manually lowering the hammer without the de-cocker was a "risk" at all of accidental discharge? I'm just afraid to be DQ'd with one slip of the hammer. Just curious about your experience since you've done it. thanks
blind bat,
let me know if you succeed with anything on the OAL. I have struggled with the same issue with the G34. Seems like I can't get anything thighter than 3"- 4" with the G34 at 25. Although I don't have a rest so that's freehand, don't know if that's acceptable or not?
excellent idea! on my way to get some rubber o-rings. Thanks. Actually I had to use my tap and die set and use those to clean them off so you are right about that.
You dont even have to get the paddle. The DOH part comes off from the holster and belt attachment, and you can put the belt attachment directly on the holster and be legal.
Hey DWFAN,
Since it appears you've done the switch on your DOH is there an easy way to hold the threads while tightening the screws?
yeah the end cap is just pressed in on the factory rod. I drilled a 3/8" hole in my reloading bench and I then press the rod up through the bottom and as the underside of bench stops the spring lock the top of rod just below cap with locking pliers and pull the cap then replace. by the way my pliers have rubber protectors to keep the teeth from digging into plastic. FWIW
I guess one of the nice things about shooting in the IDPA format is, when you've just begun shooting and are like me you have little in the way of
1) Mags
2) Mag Pouches
3) Ammo
4) holsters that are fast
It is easy on the budget. But I'm quickly trying to acquire more of 1-4 so I can try this USPSA. Mags done, holster done, Dillon 550 for ammo done. Just need 2 more mag pouches for my G34. getting closer! so close!
I have used this exact load but I've never been able to get out and chrono. Thanks for the work and the info. I also use a G34 and can only assume the FPS would increase a little with the longer barrel. Anyone?
I also load with the 550 and just finished a load with the exact products you bought. 4.2 TiteGroup @ 1.140 for a G34.
Also as mentioned search the 9mm reloading section and type in " pet 9mm load" plenty of info. good luck
I started shooting IDPA a couple of months ago and really didn't even know anything else existed, but since I've started I keep hearing over and over about USPSA. Time to give it a try, sounds like IDPA on your own terms?
Man I thought I made a good choice. I was trying to decide between the CZ85 and the Shadow and just concluded that using the CZ 85 for IDPA made more sense than trying to lose weight on the Shadow. However by the response of people using the CZ 85 was I wrong?
Curious if anyone is shooting CZ85 for IDPA? How's it working out for you? what holster is working best for you? and any load info specific to this pistol would be great. thanks
Just ran some bullets on the digital scale, I weighed 10 of each
