  1. I use Longshot and have for a couple of years now. Works well. I just tried Autocomp for the first time last weekend and really liked it. It is a fair bit of a cleaner burning powder than Longshot and it was close in feel. Will probably switch to Autocomp in the future. Anyone have any complaints/problems with Autocomp?
  2. Yep. An interviewer with Wayne Gretsky: "You must be unnaturally gifted..." Gretsky replied: "Yes I am. I spent years of my life learning these skills...." While we are reading forums- there are people training.... and training... and training. Best post yet. The only limits that exist are the one's we create for ourselves, stay away from the word "can't".
  3. Very interesting build, and the gun looks really cool. Hope it runs perfect for you when you get it all finished.
  4. Just so you know, i ran major pf through my Steelmaster for over a year with no problems at all. Well other than being really snappy with recoil but controlable non the less. Now use a Trubor for IPSC and the Steelmaster for steel.
  5. 10 lb, but i also picked up some 11 lb that i have yet to try.
  6. I agree. I have played around with a number of powders and bullets but i ended up sticking with loads using Hs6 or Blue dot. Never tried 95gr bullets but did test 115gr vs 124gr but really couldn't see or feel any difference with my Steelmaster. After reading this thread i am going to have to take a look at some 95gr bullets though. Question: Are there any restrictions on bullet weight for SC or any other steel matches or is it so long as you make PF?
  7. Glad you posted I knew you used lead but did not know if you did any extra effort to clean your comp. Hey if you can make it our three gun match is scheduled for memorial day weekend in may. I can load you some high cap mags and an AR. pat I get a little bit around the bottom inside edges in the comp, but very little. Pull your recoil master, put a flgr in with a shock buff and a 10# spring in your pistol and run some major pf jacketed rounds through it. That will clean it out! Already thinking about the Alaska 3gun match, and yes i will have to borrow some full cap AR mags. Canadian laws........
  8. So you bought a Steelmaster! Interesting. Not sure if you know but i shoot lead through mine all the time without issue. Including the Chatanika. I think it depends on the quality of the lead bullets you have. I've have in the past had problems with leading but that was mainly caused by the bullet quality and size. The ones i use now are very hard, sized at .356 and cause little to no leading in the barell or comp.
  9. I do too - one for minor (steelmaster) & one for major (matchmaster) in 9mm Also really wish i could get the match master barrel/comp for my steelmaster. Now have a barrel and comp being built.
  10. I bought a new STI Steelmaster in early March. My first STI and i guess you could say it's factory stock. The only thing i did to it was an Aftec. So far i have put 7000 rounds through it and i am really happy with it.Yes i have had a few stove pipes and a few odd jams, but i would blame that on my handloads more than the gun.So far i cant complain at all.Note:This is my first open pistol so i am no expert, but so far so good.
  11. It is also possible that there are people out there that are gifted at certain things. Not going to argue the fact that practice plays a huge role. Was Stevie Ray Vaughan just plain old better at playing guitar or considered a gifted guitarist? If i was given all the free ammo i wanted i still dont think i'm going to beat Eric G .Period. Not trying to limit myself here, just trying to be realistic.
  12. Thank you guys for the input regarding lead/alloy bullets in major.Kinda what i expected to hear.I will stick with jacketed and keep working on my major load.
  13. I was wondering if it's possible to use lead/alloy bullets in 9mm major?I have some with a brinell hardness of 25 so really hard.Or would i be wasting my time?
