G34 CORDY

My Springfield RO 1911 ran great had a few buddys that had problems with there 1911's so it just made me think alittle about the platform. Now that I have been using my 2011 limited gun in competition I figured it would be good to use the same platform (1911) as a carry gun. Also like that the 1911 is slim and comfortable to carry. I will probley end up with a G19 or alike also for the camping trips/more dirty type of carry. I had great luck with Sigs also. It's hard to find CZ's to try or look at, I have a CZ Shadow Custom for Production and it has been awesome. As far as the 1911 goes how reliable is a 9mm in that platform compared to the .45? I really got my eye on a Dan Wesson Eco, but being a Alloy frame how will it hold up with some use? Or do I need to look at the V-Bob?

So Iam back to the idea of a carry gun and bored before I go to work so let's talk lol. Been looking at the G19, some sig models, CZ models and of course the 1911 of some kind. My run down is I like the Glock because its a Glock but I don't shoot them as accurate as the others, I had Sigs mine were very accurate and reliable, I like CZ's but never shot there compact line, the 1911 I shoot very accurate but in the back of my mind I question it's reliability. If I were to get a 1911 it would be a Dan Wesson I believe. For a carry gun I don't care if the gun gets wear and tear because its a tool not something to show off so even a expensive 1911 would fine its way around town alot. I also clean my guns alot so Iam not one just to use it with no cleanings I can thank the Army for that. Also Iam debating the 9mm vs .45

I have been using thicker slide glide should I just use the light? Iam in texas by the way.

Voted 5inch FLDC bull. Right now I like the weight of this combo seems to keep the muzzle rise down a bit.

I get that all the time I think its just the pic, its the regular sight that comes on the shadow custom.

My mods are Warren/Sevigny sights, steel guide rod, 13lb recoil spring, Vanek Custom trigger, Jager extended lightened striker, grip tape love the setup.

The fiber distracts me also, just because something is popular doesn't mean it is good for you. If you want adjustable look at the Dawson Precision sights or a Warren/Sevigny for fixed.

Vanek Customs is another option. But the Glock trigger no matter the kit will never feel like a 1911. Trust me I have played with Glocks plenty and now shooting a 2011 and CZ because I don't care for the Glock trigger feel.

You would think the longer sight radius for the most part would be king but in my experience I shoot my CZ Shadow alot better than my G34.

I had mag issues with my Tanfo before there was mecgar mags so sold it bought a STI Edge and it wouldn't run out of the box worse than my Tanfo, then bought a CZ TS and never had a hiccup. Now I have my old Edge back and it needed work but i still bring a backup for the Edge also. There seems to be a pattern with high dollar guns that won't run from the factory and to me is B.S. it's like buying a sports car from the factory and having to keep taking it in for service so it will idle correctly but some people think that's ok because it's mass produced.

Reason being is that not a lot gunsmiths know Tanfoglios and CZ's. It's that simple... . They don't need that much gunsmithing I had mine since 2009 and never needed anything done to it. And there is enough smiths to mod or fix what you need, you don't need 100 gunsmiths to work on a gun.

I have had the same conversation with people one asked me what kind of 1911 is that lol. But I did have to send back a Tanfoglio because it looked worse than this.

Actually I work for the railroad as a Mechanic/inspector but my hands are not the biggest in the world. I need to get out a start shooting matches again its been awhile because of my last job (oil field). You are right I will shoot this awhile and down the road I might stay with the heavy guns or might like a lighter one.

Should I get the slide lightened?

Yeah they are nice to look at but my hard chromed edge with a poshied Dawson magwell is also good looking to me. I would like to lighten the slide.

Well I bought back my old edge that my buddy was using as a backup but never used.

Same story I have. My Shadow Custom is amazing!
