  1. Nothing. Glad to see you guys there, and thank you for supporting our sport, just as we all support your business. :-) I have no problem with ANYONE choosing to shoot AM match, sponsored or not, sandbagging or not. It's a personal choice until there are criteria around signup/classification... and a random draw prize table settles any discussion there. I was going to sign up for AM match because I am certainly not a pro, but my squad mates talked me into shooting pro and seeing where we stack up against the best. Now that I know... maybe I should have shot AM? :-) Fantastic to see many new people feel comfortable and shoot a match against people close to their abilities.... with stages that didnt frustrate them too much for being too difficult or finding themselves timing out on every stage.
  2. I dont care for the new format as much, and talked about this with the 3GN crew at the Ozarks match. I prefer a WHOLE BUNCH of match coverage and getting to see EVERY matchup in the shootoff events. That said - I fully understand - 3GN is not a show for 3gunners to watch. It is a show that is trying to appeal to all people.... and will raise interest in the sport from those not already involved in it. Whatever format they do - we have to remember that it doesn't need to appeal to existing 3gunners.... it needs to appeal to the shooting masses. I am super glad they are producing the show, my hats off to the crew. It does nothing but bring in sponsors, and raises awareness so the sport can grow. I'll watch a 3gun show no matter what they do in the show, over anything else on TV.
  3. PS. I'd REALLY like to see the stage scores posted, and overall finals. One of the best things about this sport, is that it is still small enough where the avg joe like me can see where he stacks up against the best. I want to see the scores posted, regardless of what happened with a prize table.
  4. This is EXACTLY how I feel. While I didnt see the need for the pissing match about it in the othe thread... because it isnt a big deal.... I feel that 3gun is an individual competition, and once the buzzer goes off EVERYONE should stay out of it... including the RO's and especially teammates. This includes comments like "low" or "hey you missed a plate on the left" or "you dropped a mag!".... 100% the shooter, on their own. Before the buzzer, let's all help each other all we can.
  5. I just wanted to say I had a GREAT time. I have never had more fun at a 3gun match before. Mostly because I rode up with a great crew (including my wife) and we had a great squad (18). I don't ever remember laughing so much in 3 days. The stages were fantastic. Other than a few poppers breaking or backers moving... I didn't see anything wrong with any of it. It was a course and we all had to run it. I thought it was a GREAT mix of challenging shotgun, reloading, pistol, and rifle. The slug targets were EASY (you all practice those, right?)... even the long ones. The RO's were great for the most part... we only had one stage where they seemed to be missing some penalties... and I did see a few times the hit calls were confusing... but overall it was fine. The scoring mixup sucked - as I want to always see the top shooters recognized for their achievements and sacrifices. Plus I just like to see them walk in front of me, and put a face with a name, since I am a newbie. I was so excited and thrilled to see a 3GUN Nation shootoff in person. I have been watching them on TV and watching my heroes of the sport for two seasons... and to have the priviledge to see this in person was the icing on my cake. I was giddy the whole time and you could not possibly wipe the smile from my face. Front row tickets to the greatest show on earth. I had a GREAT match...... I shot the best I have ever done, I got to ride up with an awesome crew, shoot with a great squad, shoot a fantastic and challenging match, I had the honor of getting to squad with Patrick Kelly (great to meet you sir), got to watch the making of my favorite TV show in person (and meet the crew), and got to hang out with the top shooters in the world of the sport which is the passion of my life right now. It doesn't get any better than that, fellas. Thank you to Kirk, Larry, all the RO's (who serve in a way I will never understand), the sponsors who make this possible, to 3GUN Nation for producing my favorite show, and to all the fellow shooters who share a passion for the competition known as multi-gun.
  6. Me and my crew are... we will be a 30ft travel trailer pulled by a tan chevy 2500.
  7. Mine was the same way. I even went out and bought new batteries, and swapped the batteries with my TAC. It is obvious to me that either some people are getting brighter reticles than others (variance in the manufacturing lines), or some people have differing perspectives on this topic.
  8. I meant to reply to this thread a couple weeks ago. Great little match you guys put on. I enjoyed it much. Thanks to Fred and Kelton for making that happen. It was worth the drive. Two of the stages were unique, and added a frustration factor I haven't seen before. People are gonna love it or hate it, but adding a physical element to the match is fun as well. I *really* enjoyed the two run-n-gun stages a lot more. Those were awesome, even if one of them was a "surprise" stage.
  9. Is there a special match rate for the rooms - or it is just the http://innatgrandglaize.com/ normal rates?
  10. I would have escalated that until they agreed to send me a shipping tag. That's bullcrap. It aint like a warranty issue - it was defective out of the box.
  11. I sent the specs to cdrissel. I dont know if he is planning on making them or not. Being a brand spanking new scope, I doubt anything is available. However, the OD of the power ring is 1.745", and the set-screw is recessed (on mine) so if there is another cat-tail with VERY close specs, it would work. Neither the TAC30 or XTR cat-tails will work.
  12. Mine did not. No plastic lens covers with the rubber strap, no microfiber cloth cover. Just the manuals, and a battery.
  13. I am not running something else. I own the XTR, TAC30, and the MTAC. I'd guess that either: 1. Your MTAC is brighter than mine. 2. My TAC is brighter than yours. Without question, I am using the brand new MTAC which just shipped. The illumination is good, but not as bright as my pushbutton TAC30, which I have had for a few months. I love the reticle. It seems to work very well for me. I wish BOTH scopes were brighter, as in the bright Texas sun, with sun hitting the target faces, the illumination washes out into a dark reticle. It does not have a huge impact on my ability to hit targets, but certainly the red would be easier to pick up when hosing than a darker reticle. I am not knocking the MTAC. I love it. However, I definitely had a different experience than you - as my 3 month old TAC is brighter than my 3 day old MTAC. We are discussing this same thing over on arfcom.... http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_18/543373_Chance_to_save__100_on_new_Burris_MTAC_1_4x24_Update__Deal_is_Over.html&page=4 These pictures below are not meant to show brightness difference... simply the two reticles side by side. My camera will not perform a good measurement of brightness difference due to focus and flash fill issues... but these two pics were taken at max power, and I'd say do a fair representation of the brightness of the two reticles on a medium lit target, like on a cloudy day. TAC30 reticle MTAC reticle
  14. Bright sunlit targets = no. You will see a dark reticle. Dawn/dusk/cloudy = decent. These illuminated reticles are not the same as a projected parralax free red-dot scope.
  15. Amen. I get mine from SGammo.com. http://www.sgammo.com/product/federal/50rd-federal-hydra-shok-slug-le127rs
  16. I got mine. I like it just fine. The good: Same reticle (almost) as the TAC30 Turrets are redesigned from the TAC30 and easily finger adjustable 10 position illumination with off settings between each level The bad: Reticle illumination is not as bright as the TAC30. It is about two levels dimmer than my TAC30. Turrent is not resettable to zero, which makes dialing in elevation not simple (not a big deal with the good BDC reticle) ----------------------- The zoom ring is not the same size as the TAC30. This means each model of Burris will need a different cat-tail. Outside diameters: 1.745" MTAC 1.554" TAC 1.612" XTR I was hoping for the perfect 3-gun optic... but I see they still dont make it. I am going to give stronger consideration to the Meopta Z-dot now. Until then, I will keep using my TAC. As far as butler creek cap sizes: Eyepiece (rear) size: 1.65" MTAC 1.71" TAC 1.65" XTR Objective (front) size: All models are 1.18"
  17. Shot 4 matches now, and numerous practice sessions. Zero malfunctions.
  18. I do not shoot lead bullets, only jacketed bullets, so I do not clean the bore as there is no need. When I do clean my glocks, which is pretty rare, they will be filthy due to massive round counts since previous cleaning. I completely take them down and clean the carbon buildup and brass shavings from the extractor recess, firing pin channel, and then clean all the carbon buildup from the frame and trigger assembly. Then reassemble, and give all external metal parts a quick wipe with CLP, adding a drop of CLP (or dab of grease if militec is handy) to each of the four frame rails.
  19. I was trained to always check that the mag is loaded to capacity by press, and that the top bullet should ALWAYS be on the right side. Then - when instructed to load and make ready, I always remove the magazine and ensure the bullet is now on the left side, indicating the first round was stripped and chambered. Then reinsert magazine, slap, tug, and rock. I thought I might like the windowed Pmags for use with my clear Nordic extensions, so I could "check" round count during a course of fire, but that is a pipe dream. I find its better to just keep a better idea for makeup rounds fired on a stage and plan your mag changes correctly. I have no use for witness holes, personally.
