Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The footprint is slightly different as stated. Longer font and rear, from the screw holes. FTP will provide a print on request. Fortunately I'm friends with a (only slightly evil) genius of a machinist, he matched the front "W" profile and the rear radius perfectly. (have pics, but I get a file size error) Couple hundred rounds through it today. Nothing significant to add, except I wish I had not waited to go to a dot. I started to have a pretty significant shift in eyesight around age 40. That front sight has gotten tougher and tougher. Turn 46 this week and I was happy to see, that the dot helped immensely with eye strain and focus. Looking forward to spending more time on the range with it.
  2. Anyone have this slide mounted on a Glock? Slide is cut for a RTS2, any modification required? Thanks Vince
  3. The 105s should not work with 1:10, but that doesn't mean that they won't. I'm shooting the 85gr Berger Classic hunters over H4350. 3000fps out of 24" barrel. Hodgen has recommended charge weights on their website.
  4. Can someone please link the 3GN rules? PDF would be great. I've been all over their website with no luck. I've found a club that listed a version, but would love a PDF straight from 3GN. http://www.orsa3gun.com/Rules.htm The 3GN "rules" page is very short on rules. http://3gunnation.com/the_series/rules Thanks Vince
  5. Voltage regulator took a dump just South of Lewiston ID. I limped it along on battery alone to a gas station just south of nowhere. Lucky for me all the stuff for the motorhome is on a different battery bank and I had heat, lights, etc. last night. Just at the edge of cell service so no internet. Had to wait for the in-laws to drive down this AM. We switched the alternator and battery before we figured it out. Bummer on many levels. Missed the match I'd been looking forward too and preparing for months. Out the match fees. Out two large tanks of gas. My in-laws were actually nice enough to loan me their RV. The additional irony is they just bought a newer one and sent me with the old one, since it was "proven" and they haven't done a long trip with the new one yet. Oh, well I figure today is my pity party. A few martinis later and I'll be feeling better! Cheers Vince
  6. Spent last night on the side of the road halfway to Parma. Missing Area 1 Multigun to limp my FILs motorhome back home. Bummed does even begin. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  7. So I keep meaning to clean my gun(s). I have not cleaned my Gen 4 G17 in several matches, and I meant to clean it before I attended a 2 day advanced handgun class. I messed up the dates and my Sun practice session turned into another match. I just keep hosing it down with CLP as a band-aid. To be honest in the approaching 1 year of ownership. I've disassembled the gun only once for cleaning. The class itself was 1800 rounds over two days, figure 120 for each match and I'm easily into the 2500+ round count, where the only love I've shown my Glock is to hose it down with CLP before each session. Now I'm no banner waving brand champion. (I keep meaning to switch cleaner/ lubricants after reading a awesome test on another forum). But it's just cool that it continues to work despite my abuse. Cheers Vince
  8. Well the good news is that Mossberg sent me 3 forearm retainers for the price of one. The bad news is that it won't ship till after area 1. It was $48 for express and $65 for overnight on a part that weighs 10 grams and cost $4. EB, thanks I could also get a slightly taller front sight . Does anyone know if shooting about 150 rounds without the retainer will be cause any harm? Better yet does anyone want to send me their used one for a new one, priority mail on my dime? Cheers Vince Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  9. Well, through stupidity or at least inattention I managed to destroy my forearm retainer. I am praying that Mossberg can overnight me one. I leave for a match on Fri AM. If not I'll shoot it without. On a somewhat brighter note: I ordered the Hivis rear sight and dialed in a 200yd zero. Slugs were shooting 6" right, so I ordered up the rear sight in an attempt to overcome that. I succeeded, but as the lowest setting, as far back as I can mount the sight it hits 5" at precisely 12 O'clock at 25yds. The only other option at this point is to remove the elevation ramp entirely. But I am done messing with it until after Area 1. 5" high I can deal with. I love the Hivis sight it definitely lives up to it's name. Cheers Vince
  10. WINNER, new clips are in and are great! This is a tough call. The vest requires a little more care with the mount than the belt. To be continued......... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  11. Well, the stages look fun and challenging. I had a minor freak out,(OMG THAT'S LIKE TWO WEEKS AWAY AND I STILL HAVE A LIST OF STUFF TO DO, NOT THE LEAST OF WHICH IS TO MOUNT MY OPTIC, OH AND I DON'T KNOW MAYBE PRACTICE SOMETHING!) but I'm over it(for)now. I've struggled at the distance targets in the past and sometimes the Texas Star and I aren't on friendly terms. But even when I struggle I'm still having a blast! Thank (insert deity of choice here). Can't wait That is all. Cheers Vince
  12. You beat me to it. I received the same email. Can't wait to try the new clips. This might change my opinion since it could eliminate my only complaint. Cheers Vince Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  13. Can't figure out how to edit my update in the original post. Is there a time limit on edits, or am I dense? Vince
