Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. We just ran some loads based on 200 gr swc lead and 4.2 gr of clays, 1.250 oal and crimped at .469. This load avg. was around 858 -870 fps putting it in the 171-174 pf. I know I need to stay above the 165pf. But how close should I cut it? Will dropping to 4.1 get me to close to the floor? This was the 1st time loading Clays and it sure seemed a tad smokey. Is the vv310 load talked about here cleaner and with less smoke? Thanks for all of your help. This is the best place on the net!
  2. Thanks Duane, your right wear is not so bad as long as it gets you were you need to be. Guess After all this great input I'll have to try a blade-tech. Has anyone tried SV's Thunder? I saw one at the factory friday when i was there. With all the crap I was buying and all the other stuff I wanted to buy, I forgot all about checking out their holster line. Damn, Its a good thing I didnt take my check book. I might have spent this months house payment just on new parts to fiddle with. Its tuff being close to those guys.....SV's are like drugs. 1,2 10....I want all I can get!!! Its' worse than women.
  3. Thanks again for all the input.....I have looked at just about everything on the market. The blade techs are fast..but its unlined. I love my hellweg but its not IDPA legal. I think I will try the Wilson Practical.
  4. thank you for the info......i'll give it a try!
  5. Just had to send a note in regard to your book I recieved this week. I have not seen anything like it. Great work! I found your mental insight on shooting to be the best I have ever seen. And you are so right about how it translates into many other sports. You mention pool later on in the book and I found that so funny. I grew up playing pool for a living when I was younger and still play a mean game of nine ball and at start of your book I was thinking to myself, "Thats some of the same mental and physical stuff you must learn and use in billiards ! So I can already tell "You Know"!! Anyone who has not read your book needs to order it and improve the shooting knowledge 10 fold! Sorry to ramble on but Thanks again for your time and effort to help other shooters learn from you experence and knowledge. If you ever get to Dallas/Ft. worth "I'll trade Nine-Ball Lessons for some quality range time. LOL
  6. I'm interseted in finding a phone or adddress to contact Erine Hill. I need info on is products. If Brian or any of you know how please advise. tia

    Glock Slides

I just saw a glock smith last week who showed me a 17 with a slide that had a brite polished look. He stated it was a metal heat treat finish. It comes out a flat matte, but can be polished brite with a little flitz work. I forget what the finish was called but I will try to call him and find out if your interested. It was sharp.

  11. thank you for your thoughts...dont even want to go the duty rig route...mine is high ride and tight.....and IDPA makes you use the retension strap. I did shoot a IPSC match with it and was able to hose down some of the regulars, but it is a quite a bit slower than I would want to use on a regular basis in comp.
  12. I'm a new guy to this sport.....been LEO for 15 yrs and just starting. I would like some input on what you think is the best holster. I have thinking of Helwegs or Wilson Practical. But what do I know. Also would like some input on mags and pouchs. Whats fastest and why you make that choice. Do you know of any mag carriers that are angle adjustable and are they legal in IDPA?
  13. Thanks for the input. I have already contacted IDPA.....and will look at NRA and USPSA sites for info. Any other thougts you have are appreciated.
  14. Feel free to email your response if the board is not the right media. Our group is mainly local LEO and DOJ personel and shooters interested in improving their skills. IF there are any of you in our area, and willing to help put this together, let me know! We would be glad to here from you!
  15. well I don't really know where to post this. I'm in need for some helpful info on starting a shooting group here in Ft. Worth, Texas. At this time there is not a range within 60-80 miles where you can practice IPSC or IDPA. "NO quick draws or rapid fire." I have found a little known range, that will allow this type shooting. But it will need work and improvements to be accpectable. My queston is what or how should i set this up with the range owner? If our group does the improvements, I want our group to have control of matches etc. He has very little business at this time and I know once we do the work and the word gets out, its going to skyrocket. I just dont want some other group to come in and push us out. So i'm looking for ideas, legal issues, etc to protect our investment of time and money. Our group is just getting started in this area and we could use any help and info that you have. thanks in advance. Dman
