Yes. I had some issues with a broken front sight pin and fired the gun without one installed and lost my factory bushing at the range. I picked up the 10X and installed it with no issue. It did bring the 25 yard bench groups down a bit, but nothing too extreme in my experience.
  2. Just curious. I believe that the Pro Tek II is legal for the CCP division as CCP needs to meet the standards of ESP, not SSP. So the production numbers do not apply, correct?
  3. Interesting! I just installed a SCS in my SBR. I'll have to do an A/B comparison at the range.
  4. Very nice! I find hat in carbine matches 50 yards and under the lighter gun works well. I have a 14.5" light profile Daniel Defense barrel with the SLR Solo lighweight KM handguard. All other components standard. Weighs in a around 6 lbs with the T-2 Micro. Very handy and quick. For longer range matches, I use the 18" Rainier Arms upper and it is a relative beast, but flat and steady. I would agree that the lighter gun will show more mobility in the sights from my experience.
  5. Is there anyone experienced in the San Antonio, TX area? I am looking to upgrade and customize my SP-01 Tactical.
  6. How do the elevated suppressor sights work for normal use? Any challenges with zeroing with the added height over bore?
  7. I shoot my SP-01 Tactical in SSP and the PCR in CCP. I carry the PCR regularly. Having come from Sigs, the lower bore axis is nice and the accuracy is phenomenal. Tried M&P's and Glocks, but I just can;t get used to the polymer, striker-fired guns.
  8. Interesting stuff! Chad, I am a PT as well. My focus is in orthopedic practice with a specialty in chronic and persistent pain. I believe you are tapping into the ideas of diminished threat with graded exercise exposure that are hallmarks of the pain science approach. Eccentric training for tendons is fantastic as well. Kind of combining the work of Bjorn Svenson with David Butler and Lorimer Moseley. The pain reduction phenomenon is fascinating. I tell patients things like "you've got to move to improve" and "sore but safe." Finding new ways to facilitate comfort with movement is an ideal approach. I am so impressed that this approach has been successfully applied to competitive shooting!
  9. I picked up a like new in box M2 Field for $800 off of a local board. Made the mistake of reselling it for profit instead of keeping it and shooting it! Keeping my eyes open for another sweetheart deal. In the meantime, I had a Stoeger and the ergonomics just felt off. I had to reach and turn my wrist a lot to get form the grip to the trigger and the safety felt like it got in the way. I tried all sorts of shims to change the angle but could not get it to feel right. YMMV, but I am saving for the M2 again.
  10. Hey guys. physical therapist and a shooter here. What we need to start with is that the diagnosis of tendonitis is not completely correct for the pain in the elbow, inside or out. Also, tendonitis is not what the earlier poster stated, tendons tearing away from bones. It is simply inflammation of a tendon. The problem is that many people with elbow pain actually do not suffer from inflammation and will not respond to anti-inflammatories. Rather, we now call it "epicodylalgia" which means pain at the epicondyle which is the bump of bone your flexor or extensor muscle groups attach to. The first fun fact is that this condition is self-limiting, meaning that it will eventually get better over time regardless of what you do. All the treatments in the world will not correct the underlying physiological problem any faster, but they can help to manage and treat the pain and limitation of function that come along with the condition. Additionally, there are multitudinous potential causative or contributory factors to elbow pain, so a one size, fits all solution is impossible. The best, evidence-based advice one can receive is rest with ice and protection while still gently moving the area through a pain-free range for a few days. Progressing into progressively graded movement while avoiding painful stimuli is the next step. Stretching and/or strengthening is fine as long as it does not evoke pain. If your symptoms fail to decrease with a couple of weeks of the above approach, consulting with a physical therapist to determine whether other adjacent body regions may be contributing is advised.
  11. Got it! I have a thin fiber optic front sight on my M&P. With my nearly 50 year old eyes it picks up nicely in bright light. Perhaps the lighting in your apartment is insufficient to illuminate the fiber enough? My main question is, were you making "pew-pew" noises as you cleared the apartment?
  12. I have been working on moving while shooting and the one tip new to me is turning the feet in the direction of travel for lateral movement. So simple yet mind blowing! I jumped up and practiced dry firing moving in this way instead of side stepping and the stability of the sights is SO much better!
  13. I have some pretty beefy hands... However, my grip includes setting the support thumb below the strong thumb such that the base of my support thumb slots right into the hollow between the thenar and the hypothenar eminences. Definitely keeps the support hand clear of any controls on Sigs, CZ's, or M&Ps!
  14. Very nice input, Tok36! I am getting ready to order this part for my tactical as well. Stealing your advice.
  15. Pretty much purpose built for fast, precision shooting. IMHO, that is! If your goal is more CQB, something like a Big Dot might work better. Just basing my reply on your room clearing comment.
  16. Sheesh! Brenham is, as we say here in Texas, hell and gone from Helotes! USPSA site shows down for maintenance. I'll check later and I'll ask the guys at Alpha Mike whether the last shoot was typical or not. Have to check out River City as well.
  17. I shoot regularly with Texas Tactical in their IDPA matches. ARC is a bit of a hike from NW San Antonio. I am looking into River City. They shoot at Blackhawk, correct?
  18. Also learned to close my left eye as a kid. It took a while to keep both eyes open when transitioning to handgun and tactical carbine, but the practice is worth the gains in situational awareness!
  19. Alpha Mike Shooters: http://www.amshooters.org/ Definitely list themselves as USPSA and refer new shooters to the ISPSA site for the rulebook. I signed up in Production on my score sheet. The score email though has everyone listed by IDPA classification with no division listed. It was a shoot on 9/11 and had some different elements including picture targets and IDPA silhouettes with shirts and hoods covering them. Maybe it was different than usual. I'll check them out in October and see before making any decisions.
  20. Well there it is! Never tried either, but I assume there is a speed benefit similar to my Aimpoint T-2 over iron sights.
  21. I wonder which would be better, the slide mount or a frame mount? Less movement with the frame mount seems like it would be more consistent. What am I missing with all of the slide mounted optics?
  22. BTW, great avatar, 9x45!
  23. Well I obviously need to shoot with another club! The scoring was straight IDPA and this rule was not followed.
  24. I definitely have some reading to do because I have no idea what 2A vs. 2C means!

    Mixing Grips

Interesting thought with the epoxy! I need to pay attention at the range tomorrow to see if my grip is sufficient with the thin aluminum grips.
