  1. Ben; love your videos, love the way you share info, but I think your missing the target here. You're telling a lady with an ankle injury not to wear supportive footwear. You might as well be telling a shooter with an eye injury not to wear shooting glasses because you don't. Esther is an adult, and a very smart one at that. She doesn't need some paternalistic advice as to what footwear she should wear. She knows how her ankle feels, so unless you're an orthopedist who has examined her ankle I suggest you MYOB. I mean seriously, telling a woman what shoes to wear? Has this gone over well with other women you've known?
  2. The super squad is always really really slow. I'm sure they removed those two squads to ease congestion around the super squad. It is probably for the best.
  3. Really? If I had the perspective of the person video-taping (notice I didn't say "make the call from the video evidence) I would DQ that shooter. No doubt about it. I went back and watched it full screen, and based on the video, I agree. Assuming the audio and video are in sync, it looks like he was seating the mag when the gun went off. Even if he were done reloading, I don't see how the round didn't go over the berm. Having said that, there were 2 RO's watching him closely when it occurred. Either they were start struck by the super squad, or there is something they saw that we can't on the video. (I'm not sure what that would be, but I'm giving them and the shooter the benefit of the doubt.) That's fair. Just to pile on though, it sure looks like the round went off before the new mag was seated considering he had to rack the slide to chamber the next round.

  5. Ok, what is your point? If you were an RO, and the video angle was exactly the perspective you had on the scene, what would be your call? I think it looks like a pretty obvious discharge during a reload.
  6. It's important to remember that there is so much variation from Glock to Glock that a connector or a trigger bar or striker in one Glock will give an entirely different feel in another. If you've ever tried to set up your back-up exactly like your primary I'm sure you have encountered that. It makes perfect sense to me that some would have a bad result with Taran's connector and others would have a good one, especially considering these are drop-in parts.
  7. My guess is those were the original dates they meant to open squadding. I bet they're working to populate the roster right now.
  8. Is that what you expected to happen, or was there a timing issue that occurred? Looks expected. That's what I was thinking too. I wasn't sure if Brian was just complaining about his 100% getting bumped or if there was something else going on.
  9. Is that what you expected to happen, or was there a timing issue that occurred?
  10. That is a very interesting hypothetical, but according the reports of the shooters who were at the match it wasn't an issue that came on suddenly, it was an issue that affected some shooters and not others due to the way the popper was reset. For some it was reset correctly, not so for others. The rest of your questions are compelling regardless of the situation, but in this case I don't believe it was an activator that slowly changed over the course of the match.
  11. This comes up from time to time, and every time it gets shut down by someone who has actually shot a Modified gun (I haven't) who says they are awful to shoot, and that's why competitors steer clear of the division.
  12. I actually think 1 and 2 could be the same depending on whose perspective it's from. I don't know what happened here, but it's entirely possible an RM could think he's asking 2) and the shooters think he's asking 1). Luckily there isn't such a thing as using precedent when it comes to the rules of the sport, because if there were, and 2) above is true, then pretty much anyone could get a reshoot on any stage with a mover by simply testifying that the mover somehow wasn't the same for him as it was for everyone else.
  13. I was trying to post this yesterday just as the thread was locked. It's still as fresh today, luckily. ------------------ The thing is, this isn't the story of the match. From afar I would say the story of the match is that Nils looks to be the heir apparent to TGO, and he added to his growing list of accomplishments at this match. It was also a big deal that Tori won her first (probably of many) Ladies' Championship. Those are the things I think pretty much everyone cares about. But this is the rules forum, and 50 page threads on abstract minutia based on purely hypothetical situations happen here, and they often get a little heated. If something possibly a little wonky happened at Nationals of course it's going to be a bigger deal than a thread on what happens if the sand comes out of the weighted ammo can stage prop. It's not that anyone is trying to trash the RM or call the ROs unprofessional, it's that we're trying to learn from what may have happened so we can improve the sport going forward. I'd still like to hear the RM's perspective on what happened, but I'm happy for him to take his time putting his thoughts on the matter together.
  14. It's crazy to have video uploaded before the shooter even has his mags cleaned. Nice job! Thanks again!
  15. They posted the squad matrix. It's a little hidden, so here is the link: http://uspsa.org/document_library/Production%20Squad%20Schedule.pdf
  16. There were so many times I'd watch someone shoot a stage then immediately go to Practiscore to see how much their run (good or bad) affected their score. It was very cool.
  17. This is racing of a sort after all. You have to be at or near "the limit" in racing terms in order to place well, and occasionally that means you miss. It's just like a driver missing the apex on a turn or tracking out occasionally - it's just a byproduct of racing.
  18. Paul's coverage of both Nationals matches was nothing short of outstanding. Between the constant video updates and the near real-time scoring on Practiscore.com one could follow the action closely and it made for some very compelling, exciting content. Maybe you had to be a massive shooting nerd like me to appreciate it, but I doubt it. I bet even casual fans found it to be the next best thing to being at the match. For Paul to take on such a massive undertaking and to deliver it so well is incredible. I honestly think they ought to give him an award at Prod Nats, assuming he makes it. The only thing that bugged me was that the Shooting USA cameras got to cut in front of Paul when they showed up to film the Open Super Squad. For 40 seconds worth of content that they won't show for several months it didn't seem worthwhile for them to disrupt the live feed of the match as much as they did. But then, if I were in charge I would be pushing hard to market via social media and online streaming content, and that doesn't seem like a priority of the powers that be. I don't know the ratings for Shooting USA, but I wouldn't be surprised if by the time the Nationals episode airs Paul's site doesn't have more traffic than Shooting USA has viewers.
  19. This is a response designed to cease the discussion, not guilt Brandon into somehow increasing the performance of the RO staff, which isn't even the heart of the matter here. The heart of the matter is whether or not the RM gave certain shooters the option to reshoot a stage, not whether or not the ROs were professional (which I have no doubt they were).
  20. I don't know if you meant for that to be a poem, but it's a pretty good one.
  21. No worries dude. If you liked the gun before, you're going to really love it with the new trigger mod.
  22. I commented about Ben trolling. Any other mention of trolling is a member of the BOD trying to deflect criticism of a serious issue at a Nationals level match. And speaking of deflecting, you mentioned "a call to troll" which is a specific subforum on the Doodie Project. You said people on this thread were posting in both forums. Which forums, Chuck? I specifically asked. If it's not Doodie Project forums, then is it Doodie Project Facebooke? If so, is there such a thing as an "a call to troll" thread on that page? In fact there is not. So what, specifically, are you talking about, because it has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. So I must say Chuck Anderson, Area 1 Director, is the troll on this thread. Ban him!!!!
  23. Can someone let me know why the "Shooting USA" cameras get to constantly cut in front of Paul? I would like to see which gets more viewers - all the videos posted to liveshots.net, or the 40 seconds of footage "Shooting USA" uses when they release the USPSA Nationals episode sometime next July.
  24. Chuck, can you PM me the link to the "A call to troll" Doodie thread you're referencing? It has been about a year since I've posted on Doodie, so maybe I'm slow, but I just don't see the thread you're referring too.
