Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I thought it just dropped in through the hole in the tool head? If it's that type I would be interested.
  2. I need to try this i think, the llittle flashlight i got from uniquetek is just not cutting it. I also found it does not fit one of my tool heads. The hole is smaller. Hmmm
  3. I have used scotch bright pads on the bars, saw that mentioned a while back and it helped some. It is picky for sure, i clean it and it will run for a few rounds perfectly then start up. Seems like it doesnt take much to agrivate its function. I still love the press and would use no other. Well i do use a rock chucker for sizing and depriming rifle brass, but thats it.
  4. Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I am so worried about hitting it every time i use it.
  5. just to share the specs and results of my 30 shot string. mixed brass trimmed to 1.755, 55gr Hornady #2267, wolf primers, 23.2gr of TAC, no crimp, with OAL of 2.200 resulted in average velocity of 2675 fps. ES was 143 and SD was 34
  6. It must have been the shade. Set it back up at 10 feet and got data from the first shot. If i run into that again i will try pulling the shades.
  7. No trouble. I am just at a loss with this. Book says 10-12 feet for rifles so I followed that. I am going to try again today. I really want to get some data on my new load. Thanks though.
  8. Dirty you responded as i was typing. But your saying the inverse of what sarge is. He says to close you say to far.
  9. Fresh battery, yes. What distance should it be for 223? Guy at the range has same chrono and was stumped as well. Only thing we came up with was it was late in the afternoon, after 4pm, and the shadow of the awning. I willl try again today if i can so what distance should i set it at?
  10. Went to the range to chrono some new 223 loads. Had the chrono at 10 feet and it was not reading any of the shots. Chrono has worked many times in the past with 260 rem, 45acp and 9mm. The only thing i could think of was it was late in the afternoon and the chrono was in the shade of the awening we shoot under. To those ofyou with more experiance does this sound like a possible cause? Thanks!
  11. I have this issue on my 550 as well. I have to, very often, tap the right side of the primer bar to get it to come all the way back. If not,it fails to pick up a primer. They gave me a new plate to try, installed it and right away the same issue. I have this issue with both large and small primers and tapping the right side gets it to come back. Slows down the loading process for sure. This is my only complaint about the press.
  12. My order of ops 1) Tumble brass 2) lube brass 3) Size and decap on RCBS single stage 4) tumble to remove lube 5) Trim and work primer pockets 6) The rest is on the 550 (prime, powder and seat).
  13. I just loaded up about 75 test rounds using TAC. 23.1gr TAC with a 55gr Hornady BT round set to 2.20 OAL. Because of the holiday and weather have not had a chance to test or chrono it. Why do some of you not like the TAC for 55gr bullets? I am just making plinking rounds, not match. Thanks all and Happy New Year.
