I have been stuck on a B classification for a couple of years. I've always shot them defensively (not to screw them up). I have been improving on my match results pretty dramatically in the last 6 months, mostly due to going to Max Michel's school and a lot of hard practice. I have been accused of "sand bagging" the classifiers by my "friends", but I have always tried to shoot them the best I could (albeit safe). I made a conscious decision to go as fast as I could on all classifiers about a month ago without fear of misses. While I have been a low B for 2 years I have thrown 86%, 87%, and 92% in the last 3 local matches classifiers. All M level. They have not all posted yet, but I will be moving up soon! Hope that helps.

Limited Thumb Rest / Gas Pedals
Leftylivesmatter replied to Leftylivesmatter's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Good info guys! I can't wait to see your custom one Allen. Not a lot of options for us lefties! -
Now that thumb rest / gas pedals are legal in UPSA Limited Division: Will they help recoil management? Are they just a place to ensure a consistant grip?

Florida Open 2013

+1 I agree that this year was not as difficult as in the past, dispite my 4 mikes on the stage 2 swinger (long swingers are now on my practice list). We had a great squad and everyone worked hard. Still the best match of the year. Great match Smitty and crew!!! -

Best match of the year for sure. The international shooters who will not paste or reset do dampen the fun if you get stuck with them. Love the "put them at the end of the shooting order" trick! Wish Frank would just charge them more and pay enough staff to paste and reset... -
The match is on. Yes all are Classifiers. We do allow new shooters USPSA or not, but they must arrive by 9:00 for new shooter briefing. Stage 1: CM 09-09 Stage 2: CM 09-13 Stage 3: CM 99-12 Stage 4: CM 06-06 Stage 5: CM 99-57 Stage 6: CM 03-04 They can be found on Lee's page: http://people.musc.edu/~kingl/Stages/

Watch my last match and give me some tips
Leftylivesmatter replied to 44stevenson's topic in Tips for Improvement
You seem to align your sights very well. A few points I saw: -Have your sights aligned prior to getting into the port. -Have a reload plan as a part of your walk thru. Know where you are going to reload before you need to. -Make two good shots/sight pictures instead of 3 or 4 marginal ones. Regarding the finger in the trigger guard; it's about safety not technique or pride. At some point you will have bad footing and may slip. When someone falls they tighten every muscle, including the index finger. We have all seen it happen. You have a lot of good skills to build on. Practice good skills and you will get better. -
Move faster without shooting faster
Leftylivesmatter replied to bthoefer's topic in Tips for Improvement
Three things I have been working on to become more effcient (you may call faster) are: -Shooting on the move whenever possible -Having a site picture while getting into shooting position (not after getting there). -Transition quicker from target to next target (leed with eyes, sights follow) I was also focused on splits, but have realized it has very little to do with better rankings.
