  1. Your fixture isn’t stable enough judging by the cuts.
  2. Definitely remove the buff. It won’t hurt a thing not using one.
  3. The lower the power mainspring the less force it takes to reset the hammer. The slide has to move to the rear to get that hammer moving. The lower the spring pressure the less force that takes. Usually makes more of a difference than the recoil spring. The reason you put an extended firing pin in the gun as it takes less force from the mainspring to ignite the primer.
  4. Try a 9lb or even an 8lb recoil spring. You can also go with an extended firing pin and drop the mainspring to a 17 lb.
  5. Awesome. Im building myself one on the last STI frame I have. I’m looking forward to it if I could just find the time. Lol
  6. It was my pleasure brother. I appreciate the kind words… now go kick some ass with it!!!
  7. Honestly it’s been a fair amount. Right now I have 4 slide rides and three open guns in my immediate q. Limited guns have been on the decline for awhile.
  8. Lol. Hell yes since I build a lot of them these days.
  9. That’s exactly what I said if you read it. 9major makes has way more pressure to make major. No one is shooting .45 in open. I’m not going to argue the facts of today. It’s a stupid discussion to be honest as this is the open gun forum and no one shoots .45. .38 super and super comp is harsher in major than minor obviously, as a bigger explosion means more heat and pressure but it’s less than 9major apples to apples.
  10. My comment wasn’t about lowering the power factor. It was to correct the comment that basically stated that major isn’t more harsh to a gun than minor. 9mm major makes a ton more pressure than a 45 making major and more pressure than a .40. A few of the now common powders can spike pressures pretty quickly in 9 major if over loaded by just a little. The rest of your statement I’ll leave alone as it’s just plain stupid.
  11. I say that because it’s true. Far more cracked slides in open than any other division. It’s harder on not just the barrel. If you look at the where frames have been beefed up over the old style 2011 frames. There was a reason for that as well. The enemy to steel is heat and pressure. Major makes a lot more of both. Reloading practices come into play as well obviously.
  12. A good gun builder should be a good gunsmith and that type of job shouldn’t be an issue. Most well known gun builders don’t have time to take that kind of work on as they are completely booked with custom orders. That’s the issue.
  13. There is no getting around open major is harder on a gun than minor.
  14. Mark the lower lugs all the way dow to the barrel with a marker and see where the slide stop is contacting the lower lugs.
  15. How much upper lug engagement to you have?
  16. It absolutely can and will rust if you sweat and are a salty. Lol. The finer the bead blasting will help the grip not be as porous. Install the grip, shoot it and see if any areas need to be relieved. Meaning if certain areas are harder on your hands than you’d like… address those. Even if the grip has a little surface rust any coater will blast that off before coating. Even if you have the grip cerakoted it will look good and have excellent rust prevention. Clean it and lightly oil after a practice session or match and you’ll cut down on any rust. Also know if you have it DLC coated etc and neglect it it still can rust. I see it all to often.
  17. This would be a far better choice than the other two.
  18. Get the cheely mount. Hell I’ll machine it for ya for free.
