Caswell Ranch Match Days
John Z Sr replied to DBrevit's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
John, With all due respect, I enjoy rimfire just as much as you enjoy USPSA. Caswell Ranch is the only club I'm aware of in central North Carolina to even offer these matches, so my question to Dean was merely to see if he knew of any other clubs anywhere within driving distance that might offer them in light of his giving one of his up, leaving us with only one per month. tammy Lighten up, part of shooting revo is trash talk, learn it, give and take, no repsect is due me, just lighten up and have some fun -
Revolvers for GA State match

Don't worry 'bout Josh, school will be starting again soon and he will have too much homework to do to be able to shoot matches and beat all us old guys !!! -
Start hydrating for the match now Otis, Coor's Light is about 95% water, so that would be the way to go, make up for the 5% loss by drinking more

John Z Sr replied to John Z Sr's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
The voice of the people, what a refreshing concept !!!! Like the old days. Dean, from what I've been hearing, the Saturday looks better, but lets see how it all goes. The first match will be a good one !!!! -
I went barely 165.1 last year at chrono at A8 and 2 days before was pushing 171 on my chrono, same load and basic weather conditions

New USPSA match in NC

Nothing to afford my friend, I have a 2" 66, 4" 686, and 6" 57 sitting here. Tell me which one and it's your's for the day, ammo as well. Just think of it as Single Stack Limited. 4 classifiers, what a great way to get back into REVO, where the real men get it done with only 6 !!!! -

Caswell Ranch REVO style
John Z Sr replied to John Z Sr's topic in Revolver Match Announcements and Discussions
There is nothing that is more important than REVO shooting, will see you there Tom, must gives Bones an update on you -
The new match will be 29 Aug, a classifier match (4 classifier stages) and what a great chance for all you closet REVO shooters to get classified !!!! We lost ICORE at Caswell due to lack of participation, lets get some REVO's out for USPSA and maybe we can have a quarterly ICORE match at Caswell, it still is an ICORE club.

That would be a wasted effort and wouldn't change anything, as the alloy we use determines the BHN. We use certified analysis foundry alloy in two hardnesses - the 12 BHN alloy is 1.33% tin, 4% antimony, balance lead. The 18 BHN alloy is 2% tin, 6% antimony. We actually sell this alloy in 60 lb. pigs to bullet casters and there is a photograph of one of the pigs on our website and I am surprised you didn't run across it when you were browsing our site (it's in the main navigation under "Bullet Casting Alloy." FWIW, I don't know of a single commercial casting operation that uses water-quench in production, as the added operational load would be a nightmare. For example, we manufacture and ship a million bullets a month, on average, and the thought of adding the steps necessary to water-quench our output would cause nightmares. Number one, we would have water splashing under our five Bullet Masters with every drop from the double-cavity moulds (as you know, ahem, water and the proximity of molten lead is not a good combination), the temperature gradient of the water would change with every 250 degree bullet entering it, making a constant and predictable water temperature impossible, you would have to get the bullets utterly dry before sizing them, preferably using heat with a blower on small batches of bullets, then you would have to cool them to a consistent temperature before the lubrisizing operation, and then you would wind up with dull-looking, ugly bullets with inconsistent hardness. No thanks! Again, we regulate bullet hardness by working with the correct relative proportions of tin and antimony alloyed and certified at the foundry and we purchase this alloy in 22-ton truckload lots in both hard (2/6) and soft (1.33/4) form. Brad As a small scale caster for myself, son, girlfriend and a few other friends, I appreciate your response and info as to how you cast, thanks from a little guy

Any RO's in the area, please give us a hand -
We are happy to announce that there will be another place to shoot USPSA in the central NC area. Caswell Ranch has become a USPSA club and will hold matches on the 2nd Sunday of every month starting 12 SEPT. This adds to Sir Walter and Pitt County for 3 monthly matches in the Raleigh area. Sunday the 29th of Aug, we will have a classifier match with 4 classifiers so all the IDPA shooters can get classified right away, please come out and join us. Great place to get some extra practice in before our NC SECTION match in early OCT

Thanks, I'll try to make it back up there for the USPSA match in Sept. and pick them up. I found a small handful as well, they will be at Caswell for you
-
Josh, in all fairness, you might just consider dropping 1 "Delta", just to give the older guys a chance. It's fast or accurate or no mistakes, stop doing all 3 so well

OTIS shall reign supreme, or at least boost the local conveinence store profit margins, all hail OTIS -
Congrats Josh, keep in mind that Craig shot 20 stages in 100 degree+ heat by lunch time the day before and then drove up to AREA 7. I told him you would win by 10% not the 20% you won by, so give the man his props. Good luck at AREA 8, Cliff is ready to kick some a,,

Thanks Tom, USPSA time for you, Bones ,,,,, rest up my brother, next year you will be done ( not as good at trash talking as my mentor OTIS, but give me time)
