  1. Ted, I've been using Bullseye in everything. If it was good enough 100 years ago then it's good enough for me. Bill Nesbitt
  2. I think that stage design can be a local thing and not all areas are guilty, but I agree that speed outweighs accuracy on most stages. I guess it's up to us to change things. Look for longer distance shots at the 2003 Ohio State & West Virginia State IDPA Championships. Flex, have you picked all the stages for the Buckeye Blast yet?? If not prepare for e-mail. Do you want a speed shoot, a field (assault) (whatever they are called now ) course or a fixed time standards?? Bill Nesbitt
  3. I just looked at the rule book. I don't see any reason why you couldn't shoot a factory produced 8 shot revolver in Limited 10. It would have to be 40 caliber to make major, but I don't think anybody makes 8 shot 40's. You can't change caliber so 38 super would not be allowed unless some factory had made enough of them. I guess the moon clip question would have to be answered by USPSA HQ. The 357 major is only in revolver division now. So I would guess if somebody wanted to shoot an 8 shot minor 38 special revolver in Limited 10 they could. Bill Nesbitt
  4. THS, OOPS. Being mainly an IDPA shooter I quoted from the IDPA Little Green Book. For IPSC how about rules 1.1.2 Quality, 1.1.3 Balance & 1.1.6 Difficulty? Bill Nesbitt
  5. THS, Page 18. 75% of all shots required in a match must be 15 yards or less; however occasional targets out to 35 yards are to be encouraged. That certainly separates the accurate shooters from the trigger slappers. Bill Nesbitt
  6. Ron, You haven't seen some of the stages I designed. The rule book says occasional shots out to 35 yards are OK. Bill Nesbitt
  7. Flex, I'm not sure what you are looking for here, but, I think we too many times only have close shooting in our pistol games. I know several shooters who do OK until the targets are moved farther away than 10 - 12 yards. A lot of IDPA shooters can't move up to the next classification because of the longer shots on stage 3. My thoughts are that there should be some longer range shots in each match. They don't have to be in every stage but there should be a few shots out to 25 or even 50 yards. Many shooters can still get acceptable hits on close targets by not seeing the sights and jerking the trigger. I know because I have done it. Bill Nesbitt
  8. I am one of the Safety Officer Trainers for IDPA. When I give a class I always tell my SO's that we are in the "Entertainment Business" People only have so many entertainment dollars to spend. If we want them to come to our club then we have to entertain them. They could go golfing you know. This means we treat the shooters with respect, courtesy and above all, bend over backwards to be fair and equal to everybody. Even a DQ should be treated with respect and courtesy. This treatment should also be used in all shooting sports. Bill Nesbitt
  9. Flex, Here's the method I used on my model 10. Place revolver in strong hand. Wrap weak hand around grip just like you would do when shooting. Then pull trigger. Repeat around 10,000 times. Then if trigger is not light enough, replace the rebound spring. Of course you could send the gun to a gunsmith but then you would lose all that dryfire time. Bill Nesbitt
  10. Flex, Get Tom to run a bunch of the revolver friendly ones. Bill Nesbitt
  11. Flex, Congratulations on your new title. You da man. For those of you who don't know Flex, he is just as nice and knowledgable in person as he is here at be.com. Bill Nesbitt
  12. They just added some IDPA scoring stuff as well. I asked for a car but didn't get it. I have used this for several stages so far. E-mail them with your suggestions. They listened to me. Bill Nesbitt
  13. vluc, Around here (Ohio Valley) most IDPA clubs set up 4 to 6 stages or so for the club matches. After you shoot for score you can reshoot as many times as you want. So the COF for the reshoot is the same as the first time through. redmist, Yes I have seen and experienced that. Bill Nesbitt
  14. My loads are all 900 fps or less. Bill Nesbitt
  15. I've been loading my revolver ammo on a Dillon 550 with a Lee factory crimp die. I use West Coast plated bullets. I have fewer rejects with the Lee die. Bill Nesbitt
  16. gunfighter, Just ignore this thread. It is only about one match years ago that probably wasn't run by IDPA rules anyway. Just do what the SO tells you to do at your range. Bill Nesbitt
  17. My wife & I can't use the same sight settings. If she shoots my guns she hits low & right. If I shoot her guns I hit high left. I am right handed & she is a lefty. You have adjusted your sights for yourself. Shoot center & be happy. Bill Nesbitt
  18. Sue & I have more clubs than we have time to shoot at. The ranges with the worst facilities are the ones we dump first. We shoot at 3 IDPA clubs that have his & hers inside bathrooms with hot & cold running water. Those are the ones we go too most. Besides, I would rather go indoors rather than behind a tree. Bill Nesbitt
  19. Hawker, Most of my experience with revolver shooting is in IDPA. I have found that jacketed bullets are MUCH cleaner. I can shoot a whole match without cleaning my chambers. My hands don't get that grey gunk on them either. www.moonclips.com has some moon clip holders and the shoot the moon clip holders are nice too. I use a Blade-Tech holster & like it. Make up some reload practice rounds with bullet only. Put a little silicone in the primer hole and use them for reload practice. Smooth is the key. If you get a trigger job, don't get so light that some of the rounds don't go off. An extra reload is a real time waster. Use Federal primers. Good luck. Revolvers are fun. Wait until you start beating the flatgunners. Bill Nesbitt
  20. smoney, trying to be better than Nationals, TRYING???? The 2003 West Virginia State Championship is probably going to be on August 30 at Hancock County Sportsmans at Weirton WV. Don't miss it. We will try to top the last 2 years. Bill Nesbitt

    El Prez

Since this is the IDPA forum, How many of you are shooting El Presidente the way they do it at the IDPA Nationals? The targets are at 10 meters and the targets are spaced 3 meters between them. And you shoot from concealment. With a slide lock reload. TGO shot it in 8.81 down 1 point. Will S did 8.79 down 1. Set it up and try it like that. I expect your times will be different. Bill Nesbitt
  22. If your slide lock doesn't lock your slide back, then should you still call it a slide lock??? Thanks for the idea Flex. Bill Nesbitt
  23. Did you ever notice how many auto shooters try to fire one more shot with the slide locked back. Thats even worse than us revolver shooters. We don't even have a visual clue like the autos. Auto shooter: "I noticed the sights looked different but I tried to shoot anyway." Bill Nesbitt
  24. I just reholster the guns when they go empty. I tried shooting 2 guns at the same time once. Each time I shot I would be firing 2 shots at different targets. Hey, Kevin Costner did it in Silverado. I could hit pretty good with the right gun but not too good with the left one. It's pretty neat with all the gunsmoke, SO's choking, targets on fire. Bill Nesbitt
  25. down0, I have already started black powder IDPA. The rule in IDPA says you can't carry 2 guns. They don't say anything about more. I do reshoots with black powder cartridge & cap & ball revolvers. I carry 3 or 4 depending on the stage. It is fun. Bill Nesbitt
