  1. Well I am using a Dillon SDB which probably doesn't have as precise of a powder drop as higher end machines. But then how do you explain the ones that are very low ES/SD? I don't know. James

  5. Until I run out of all my other bullets, the 200gr X-Treme SWC are going to collect dust - not worth my time and trouble. I've also got some 200gr X-Treme Flat Points I'm trying to shoot up. They run more reliably - in some guns - with certain mags. I like them, they make nice holes. Loading to 1.20 nominal OAL. James
  6. I have found that these are very hard to get to run reliably in any of my 1911s. Wilson Combat doesn't recommend plated 200gr SWC in any of their guns. Just my experience. And I have a "lot" of them left James
  7. I loaded up some MG JHP 124gr and chronyd them last week and they were too "minor". 6.0gr N350, 1.265OAL, sorted brass out of my Wilson Combat CQB .38 Super: 1059 1055 1085 1083 1064 1069 Avg, 30/13 ES/SD. Had a Failure to Extract on this string. "Okay" accuracy at 13 yards (longest I could shoot on the range) 1068 1069 1004 1064 1064 1053 Avg. 65/27 ES/SD. "Okay" accuracy. These worked out to about 130-132PF. I'm going to bump the load to 6.5gr N350 and shoot some more. Should get up closer to 1150 fps hopefully. Will follow up. James
  8. Check these two forums for good info on Doublestars: http://www.1911addicts.com/forum.php http://forums.1911forum.com/search.php?searchid=10478455 Good 1911s from everything I've read. Don't own one myself, but wouldn't mind owning one James
  9. Just go to Gunbroker and look at some of the test targets that are in the photos for Wilsons for sale. I've seen 4.8gr Bullseye with 200gr Lead SWC. James
  10. Wilson Combat's Accuracy load for a long time was 4.5 VV310 under a 200gr Lead SWC at OAL of 1.25. However, they've since gone to different powders for their test and accuracy loads, using VV320 and others. James
  11. Wideners just put them up for sale: http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=6788 I ordered a 1000 to try them out James
  12. Search for 200gr N310 Wilson Combat load on google and you will find lots of hits. That was Wilson's accuracy load they shot for test targets for the longest time. I does exceed Vit's published max load, but I've used it also and seen no pressure issues. 4.7 is a little hotter than necessary, 4.5 N310 under 200gr LSWC typically makes 825-850 fps which make IDPA 165 PF. Regards, James
  13. For IDPA CDP PF loads out of my 5" 1911s, I have to go to 4.2 N310 with 230gr Jacketed or Plated bullets to make it (moderate temps above 50 degrees outside). I would think with Bayou Bullets, you could back it off to 4.0 or so to make 165PF. I use ~1.245 to ~1.255 OAL with my FMJ bullets with good success in all my 1911s. Regards, James
  14. My favorite 115gr load is 5.8gr N350. It gives me about 130-135PF and it is superbly accurate in my Wilson 1911 9mms. And my Glock and Walther like them too. I'm experimenting with 124gr loads and 5.5gr was a little warm (about 143 PF) and showed some primer flow, so I'm going to back those off to 5.2gr and re-chrony them. VERY consistent and accurate, with 124gr XTP and 124gr Combat Truncated Cone Hornady bullets. I've also used 4.2gr N320 with MG 124gr FMJ and 4.5gr N320 with 115gr FMJ and they were great loads too. I like the N350 for the load density. But N320, AA#5 and Titegroup are also great powders that work well with 9mm James
  15. I had 3 PC1911s, I now only have one. Mine is a tack driver and totally reliable so far. About 500-700 rounds through it. I did pay well under retail for them, ranging from 1325-1425 for each, 2 had less than a box shot through them, one had probably 200 rounds through it. Here's a pic of mine: Pros: - Great trigger - Great Finish (Melonite over stainless steel) - Great sights (Wilson Combat adjustable) - 30 LPI front/rear strap, cool slide serrations front and rear - Cool Koenig speed hammer - Magwell Cons: - Stupid Swartz Firing Pin Safety (already had this fail once on my SW PD1911 Tactical Rail, but not on my PC1911 - yet) - Lots of up/down play in the ambi-safety with hammer forward (probably a defect I can get S&W to fix, just haven't bothered) - Magwell is not blended - Front sight is hydraulic pressed in (cannot remove with sight pusher). Gave up trying to replace it with Dawson Fibre Now, for $1300-1500 I think it is a GREAT 1911. However, once you cross the $1500 mark, I think it is Les Baer PII time. And the Dan Wesson pre-2010 Valor models were also much better than the PC1911 (I have 2), but now the 2010 Valors in Black are crazy priced compared to Les Baer. IMHO. And I've sworn of buying any more 1911s that have any firing pin safeties Regards, James

    HK P9

It's an early P9S Target/Sport model with an extra barrel, and weight, all original packaging, manual and test target. Very desirable to a collector. I would start it at $1500 and see if you can get it. Advertise on HKPRO and ParkCitiesTactical. I haven't completed my HK P9S FAQ yet, but have posted an article from a while back on the HK P9S. Check it out, the pic of his gun is in the article. http://www.gunfaqs.org/P9SFAQ/index.htm Regards, James
  17. My experience, and granted I was new at it and worked for 2 months developing my IDPA load for my 4" Smith 686 for Louisiana State 2010, I could never make PF with N320 or Titegroup. Tried AA#5 and W231 also, never could make it consistently. It COULD have been because I wasn't crimping enough. I ended up going with 6.1 N350 and a tight crimp to finally make PF for LA State. 158gr Plated Flat Point bullet. 6.1 N350 FWIW - and I stopped shooting SSR for IDPA - just wasn't as much fun as CDP James
  18. The EMP is a superb pistol, I have two, my wife carries one regularly. You won't be disappointed. Regards, James
