  1. I'm running: Precision Black Moly 124gr Solo 1000 4.4gr 1.10" OAL Wolf Small Rifle primer 130.4pf through Springfield XDm 9mm at 50 degrees, 800' above sea level About one in every 100 is a light strike with Wolf SR. Ran almost perfectly with Winchester Sm Pistol Mag primers, but I have had a re-order with Powder Valley on back order for 10 months now, so Wolf is all I can get.
  2. That's great news. Grant and I are in. Just printed out the forms and sending in tomorrow. That really beats driving to Florida and we have family in GVL to stay with.
  3. Gonna be a great match. Got a room at the La Quinta for Friday. They still have a few rooms available.
  4. Yup. Extended basepads are the way to go if you want more than 17. I'm a huge fan of SSS: http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/catalog/search.php?submit=submit&categories=Smith+%26+Wesson+M%26P+9%2F40%2F357&subcategories=Magazine+Base+Pads
  5. Definitely going to have to bring a bunch of ammo. Not too many mags, though
  6. Yeah. It was slowing me down. Now, I can only aspire to carry around some Swiss Cake Rolls...
  7. Was hoping to sandbag my way to Area 6 as "C", but very happy to make "B" in my first year. Loving Limited. Some great mentors and inspiration have been awesome support. Hoping to branch out more in year 2. Many thanks to Boz, Mark, Tod, Bruce, Larry, Mike and the SAPSC crew for all the help.
  8. Still got slots? I just got the go-ahead. Would love to join in the fun.
  9. Yeah. I'd love to see that video. I tried to get my extractor out for a couple of days and a couple of punches. Tod Litt had to help with it and he said it "came right out". My punches were definitely too long.
  10. You should have at least 4 mag pouches. Many people put their initial charge mag (with Barney round) in a pocket. A 5th mag pouch can be helpful for that sneaky 42 round stage. I'm a huge fan of Ready Tactical holsters and pouches. Check out http://cpwsa.com/ready_tactical.htm. One tip is to take a heat gun to warm up the mag pouches and with an insulated glove, insert a mag and press pouch around it. Makes a perfect fit every time. Also, I highly recommend taking some velcro and placing on the inside of the pouch to keep it extra snug on your belt. Shooting .40 in production can be fun, just make sure to build a soft load to take advantage of the extra bullet weight.
  11. many thanks. tried looking all over site for that. maybe we can make your class in FL.
  12. My son and I were hoping to go through the NROI course this year. Anyone know of plans for one close to GA soon (before Area 6)?
  13. Finally filling out the form for me and my boy. I missed this last year. Very excited. Count us in for coming to help setup, too. -R
  14. Wow. That is so sad. I will keep praying for the families. Very sobering reminder of how every second near a firearm requires a sharp focus on safety. My 9-year-old is getting into the sport and becoming a very safe and good shooter. I am extremely proud of him, but very hard on him at our range. Even when it is the 2 of us, I will DQ him for the day if anything happens. Recently, on his first practice stage, he brought the gun to the 180 during a reload and I stopped him and he was done for the day after another safety briefing. Later that day, he thanked me. I hope that these lessons are ingrained for life.
  15. I think I met the guy from number 10 last year at a campground on West Point Lake.
  16. Pretty smooth. How long does it take to build up a holster?
  17. Thanks, man. Too much fun. I really appreciated the accolade of that run being "bad ass".
  18. Still working on winning a match, but had a blast at the GA State Championships. Mark, Mark and crew put on a heck of a match. The stars aligned for me on Stage 10 and I made all my shots, stuck to the plan, and felt a major rush. After my last shot, I'm sure I looked shocked. Got great encouragement from my squad and a great RO (singlestack). Woo Hoo!
  19. When I first got my STI, the Bolen followers were forcing slidelock with 1 round left in the mag... A little dremel work and all was good. I prefer to cut the notch out and not let it slidelock. Knowing where you should reload and how many (if any) extra rounds you have allows just counting any extra shots you take and then adjust.
  20. Great time today. Fun stages. Of course, I wish we didn't have to shoot in the rain and with glistening plastic bags over the targets. Good luck to all over the weekend. One hint: Stage 3, Forty Caliber, doesn't specify that the gun has to be lying flat...
  21. It'll change since I'm shooting Friday and my wife may go into labor at any minute. (hoping positive thinking gets me somewhere)
  22. Here's to hoping the rain holds off on Friday. Looking nasty as of now.
  23. Great job, man. Motivating for us youngsters. You've definitely earned it.
  24. I have a Springfield XDM 9mm and a S&W M&P 9mm Pro that are currently setup for production. I would like to set one up as a limited minor gun and can't quite decide. It looks like the parts for the M&P would cost less, but would love some advice. Anyone have experience that they would like to share? Curious most about mag capacity. I have heard rumors that both can comfortably go to 24 rounds. Thoughts?
