  1. Other Enos Road mystical spots: --Whitman County, WA --Marshall County, OK --Hinesburg, VT --Watrousville, MI Also: House for sale in Chesapeake Bay area (3402 Enos Road), 3bdr/2bath, $102K. No mention of "Master" Suite, twix. (At only 1,265 sq.ft., hardly enough room for one) Sorry.
  2. BSvrs-- That's something I concluded, thankfully, long ago. It works for me. I'm accused of being "cold" sometimes as a result, but it's better than being emotionally scorched one minute and frozen solid the next. And yet I can still experience the full range of what happens to me... just with less pain, if you will. Another thread on another forum addresses ignoring "mistakes" made in matches and going on to your next shot with all the newness of the moment of your first shot. And so on. Just keep shooting for the TenZone... every time.
  3. Being a shooter (therefore a performance-based individual) is a lot like being in the entertainment/broadcast business (also performance-based stuff)... you're only as good as your last break (on-air) or your last shot (targets). The personality/ego sensitivity is high and the pressure is higher. But that's what it takes to do the gig and perform--whether on the air or on the range. I am DOUBTLESSLY my own worst critic when it comes to my range peformance, but without that continual self-critique no progress is made. No RAPID progress, anyway. I'm fortunate to be among a very supportive (to say the least) group of shooters who are cool to be with, cool to share tips with and generous with their knowledge and experiences on the range. I, too, have come home from the occasional night match at the range with my tail between my legs (like last night) because I screwed up (or THOUGHT I did) even though someone else thought I did OK... It's all relative and depends on who's paying the compliment (are they better shooters than you or lesser...?). But I've also found that discussing the bummers you DID observe in your own shooting is frequently something the OTHER shooter is also experiencing, so you end up sharing some knowledge about it and maybe even solving the mutual problem. For real. Don't have IPSC experience (need to have my hip replaced first) so can't vouch for anything going on there, but my current group experiences are good--even though I agonize like hell over my performance. I mean REALLY agonize. The range owner teases me about it sometimes.
  4. Typed in "Enos Road" into the search engine... turns out there are a few others around the country. Some even have homes for sale on 'em. Any takers...?
  5. After all these posts I can guarantee EVERYONE here will know when I finally receive it...!
  6. Moreover... "If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." --The Dalai Lama (Guns & Ammo Magazine, December 2001, p.19)
  7. ErikW & Carlos... After about 10yrs here in Blue-gene, I realized it was (among other things) the bank robbery capital of the galaxy and, yes, also had a blatantly embarrassing high incidence of gender-related assaults in public places where this sort of thing should NOT be happening. Again, this IS a shall-issue state and "reasons of personal defense" is considered a VERY legitimate reason for applying for the CCW. And the local indoor range is very accommodating in offering frequent (and high quality) classes in basic handling and safety, so... there's no excuse. I just wish I could do more to promote handgun use and awareness (and the sport!) in local women without getting thrown off the board of directors of my local women's business group. There's a bit of unecessary sensitivity to the issue around here. There was even one of those "Mother's Against Guns-n-Stuff" marches this spring and, boy, I didn't want to get into it with THEM in a public place. Erik: (Which "ultra-liberal" did you attend...? I 'did' Evergreen in WA.) Eugene IS an attractive place to live; the weather is temperate, the population is still low, but the economy is horrid and is now considered one of the nation's most expensive places to live (outside of SFO). We also have (at last count) several thousand homeless people and a few other chronic problems with transients and panhandling. As an Interstate-5 corridor community, I don't think this can be avoided. People routinely get their throats slit, get shot, get whacked out on drugs and just plain get crazy. The U/O students (about 1,500 of 'em) started a riot--complete with bonfires in the street, etc.--just two nights ago. No mention of gun-toting students, though. Thank God. THAT issue would've brought out the REAL crazies. OK, enough of our problems. We DO have a happy little shooting community of savvy, hip business people, though, and we seem to be the other side of the Eugene coin. The sane side.
  8. BE and staff: I'm sure it was merely 'ground'. I'll simply keep an eye on the situation for awhile and not panic. (I, too, have seen the occasional postal weirdness--sometimes in just getting something across TOWN let alone OUT OF STATE). Again, you likely didn't receive the check until the 14th (a Saturday, at that), and perhaps didn't process anything until the following Monday or Tuesday at the earliest... So, there's several days right there if you think about it. But... looking forward to it anyway! Thanks.

    Bad Karma

Zen not so much like hat you put on then go kick ass... more like shifting of gears in the grey cells. Go peacefully and kick ass effortlessly.
  10. "Be", perhaps. not so much an admonition but an invitation.
  11. No license apparently needed. We poach on the honor system here. Happy hunting!
  12. Yes. Until Monday. A slowdown to infinite stillness, I trust. BE there.
  13. Facts of the case: Snail-mailed a check on September 12. Allowing a good 48 hours or so for out-of-state delivery, too, I suspect a contact next week might be informative. At the time of order I was uncertain of delivery times or method of same. Assumed it might be common carrier/ground. Thanks!

  15. (Pat, that was quick...!) Thanks. It's just been a bit over two weeks and I thought I'd ask. (Mainly, I'm dyin' to read it!)
  16. Does anyone know how long it takes for Brian's book to arrive once it's ordered...? Thanks.
  17. Yeh, some people really have made my life complicated... political correctness, my a**. Here's my take: Every lady is a woman, but not every woman is a lady. Amen. (or is it Awomen...?).(Heh, sorry.) PS--Please don't anyone call me SiG Person...!

  19. Not three minutes ago I SAW the Victoria's Secret network TV ad...! To call it soft porn would be polite. Artistic--definitely. Makes the Blue Press stuff is VERY soft. (And I gotta deal with 105 ladies in a business group--I'm on the board--who, would you believe, are offended if I call them "ladies"!! What am I supposed to call them, bitches? chicks? babes? worse? Political correctness has gone too frappin' far, I tell ya. There are some females over HERE than need 'teaching'. What's more, none of the 105 know that I shoot. I don't dare mention it. Yet. (Hmmm... perhaps I should move this to the What I Hate forum....)
  20. Perhaps the answer to that will come during your retreat.
  21. OHMYGOD!!... I just posted myself OUT of the Gatherers Club!! That means I'm out of the loop for the "Gatherer's Question"...?????.......
