The term "unsupported chamber" is misleading.
All barrels must support the round they are chambered for and most guns that uses the modified Browning action have partially supported chambers.
You keep talking about "KABOOMS", but those can happen in any gun. A concern with Glocks is lead building up in the barrel.
If you read the book "Glocks in Competition", you will get some good info.
Most people who reload and shoot lead go ahead and put in an aftermarket barrel. I have G35 and Storm Lake that I shoot moly-coated BBI's out of. I only did that because .40 is a high pressure round.
I shoot 147gr BBI's out of my stock G34 barrel with no problem, I just clean the barrel.
