Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Will a zero classifier be used in your initial classification? I needed one more for my initial classification, but zeroed it thursday night. Will it be used? I don't want to be unclassified for single stack nationals.
  2. I bought an MC operator, sent it back to springfield to have 20lpi checkering on the FS and had the black armory cote the frame, added a dawson fiber front sight. Love it, love it better than my TRP operator, just feels good to shoot, nice trigger, might send it off to have the creep taken out, but for the money can't beat it.
  3. The 2011's are the standard for limited and yes sometimes they are able to squeeze in an extra round in a mag with a little tuning. The big advantage the glocks have is that they require very little gunsmithing, you can play with a glock and change, add, remove just about anything yourself with almost no problems. Parts are highly interchangeable in the glocks, where the 2011 and 1911 platforms sometimes require a bit of tweaking to get running consistantly. Everyone has made very valid points, what it boils down to is what do you want to shoot, and what do you think you can be competitive with. Sevigney could beat most of us with a slingshot. Your preference is what counts, don't buy something just because your local hot shooter has one, buy what works for you.
  4. Read the post on the new gen 4's, you might change your mind about them. I would look for a good condition gen 2 or 3 and start there.
  5. I went with the setscrews through the pouch to keep it on the belt, then the velcro on the back to lock the outer belt onto the inner belt. Works well so far.
  6. +1 for the CR Speed's, I have them for open through production love em.
  7. Is the Ice magwell legal for singlestack?
  8. Also look at www.oregonaero.com/p606162-2001.html#softskin they are made for headsets but work well on shooting muffs.
  9. Have an SJC production, they used a KKM Match that they fit to the slide, then ream the chamber for the ammo you are going to use. Excellent accuracy and fit in the pistol, SJC just does great work, and the way they stipple is awesome.
  10. Springfield TRP or Kimber Tactical entry I have both and they are both excellent 1911's
  11. I use a Red fiber optic it really helps indoors.

    Low cost Gen3s

I doubt we will see a big rush by LE to convert to the Gen 4's. While the adjustable back strap is handy for those with smaller hands, I don't know how many agencies will totally swap out just for that factor. I would think it might be done on an officer by officer basis.
  13. Stock magazine with the Taylor Freelance +10, and Arredondo +6 for shorter courses. Talk to taylor about what gen mags you are using for advice on sanding down the stock follower to prevent it getting hung up in the mag. Newest gen follows need to be rounded a little or the get caught up sometimes.
  14. A local match I really don't take or worry about spares. Majors I take an identical back up gun. If that's not practical like my SJC open glock, I take a spare in the same caliber so I can just swap whatever parts are needed.
  15. I am using the Mil-COMM TW25b on all of my SJC Glocks, works like a charm.
