  3. Jason, we'd love to have you come out. The most important thing we are promoting is to get out and shoot, plus have some fun. Trying to make it a little less competitive and make it more of a learning experience. I know a little bit about AR's, so if you need some help sighting in or shooting out to 500, my schedule is very flexible.

  6. Rifles Only for sure. They are in Kingsville, TX Jacob and Lindy are some of the best teachers out there.
  7. I've only broken an ejector. But i also carry a bolt disassembly tool and a few springs for my 700.
  8. Website updated with new info. www.tacticsprc.com
  9. Very cool design, i have my own unique design coming out when i build my 300 win mag(waiting on krieger barrel)
  10. We will be done shooting by noon, then awards hopefully at 1pm, so 3pm would be safe to say, maybe 5 or 6pm flight if you are flying. Lots of Californians, Kurt is bringing a crew from nevada, Utah folks emailed, lots of arizonians too. 4 from texas already emailed, i told everyone to wait until Nov. 1st though. No applications til then, to be fair to everyone. Hope you can make it, missed meeting you last year at smm3gun or was it desert classic? whichever. I'll be there again with a Tactics booth in the vendor tent.
  11. We'll be using MOA or bigger targets. Zero rifles after check in on friday Some COF's will be published, but not all. Elevation is 1650ft
  12. We will be holding a long range precision match on Feb 21-22 at phoenix rod and gun club. 45 shooters, 2 days of shooting. This is an individual event with shots from 50ish to 700ish yards. Entry fee is $150 before Jan. 1 and $175 after. We will start taking applications on Nov. 1st. From some I have talked to this will fill up quite fast. We have beautiful weather(usually) in February and being a big metropolis, there is plenty to do either before or after the match. Our website for the match is: www.tacticsprc.com Feel free to email me any questions you may have.
  13. We do 14.5/16/18/20/22/24 inch barrels, the barrel length is important to how far you want to shoot. Several guys on this forum all shoot my 18" mid-length barrel for competition shooting. Thats what I prefer also. There is nothing wrong with a 16" barrel nor with a 20" barrel. Our home range here in Arizona(RIO) we shoot out to 350yds. Some people only have the luxury of 100yd bays. In Raton, NM, I believe they shot out to 600yds this year. For that long of a range, i would run a 20" barrel. Again, personal preference and some good info on here with all these world class shooters. Good luck whichever way you go.
  14. a couple of my buddies have the 6.5 creedmore and they like it. i shoot a 260, only because when i got it the 6.5 creedmore wasn't out yet. They are very close in ballistics, the advantage to the 6.5 creedmore is barrel life over the 260.
  15. RS, the problem I ran into was with extruded(stick) powders, the dillon throws very inconsistent. I load 43.6gr of Varget with my 175smk's, if i don't weight each one, my 550 throws anywhere from 43gr to 44.4 gr. To my 550's defense, I don't clean it a whole lot and the one time i stripped it down and cleaned it, it threw 43.4 - 44.0, probably not make too much of a difference out to 500yds, but since we do alot of 100yd precision, i bought a Quick Measure system and it throws perfect every time. Good luck!
  16. Kgunz, Unfortunately, i'm having a precision rifle the same weekend in february. The one by you sound like a blast. maybe we'll have to schedule something for 2010. I used to hold wind, but now dial it, unless i'm engaging multiple targets too. I just bought some 155 scenars and using varget myself. I just got them last week so i haven't worked up a load yet, i want to push them at 2900fps, I'm using a 22" bartlein built up by GA Precision. My load now is 175smk with 43.6 gr of Varget, shooting @ 2670fps.
  17. Aren't we all. LOL To be completely honest i have never seen the reticle you have first hand, maybe I'd change my mind after shooting one. Thanks for posting your equipment and hope to shoot some distance with you one day.
  18. Kgunz, i hear ya with the math. MOA ranging seems easier, but thats why i have a mil dot master. Most of the guys I shoot with and when i go to the bigger competititons, its seems like everyone is calling in impacts or corrections in mils. I learned it and now its easier for me. I like to hear from folks like you who use the other method, that we can share methods and ideas. just a fun number too, that my .260rem(139gr @2850) at 942yds would still be a torso shot at 906.
  19. To each his own on reticles and knob adjustments. I have several long guns and different scopes. I like the mil on mil(mil reticle and mil knobs) Once you learn mils its much easier than MOA in my opinion. Both my US Optics scopes have the GAP reticle in them, and 1/10 mil adjustments on the elevation knob. When most people call out your impacts/adjustments, its easier to dial when mil is given. It is rare someone shouts out, " your 3 1/2 MOA" left. It is usually 1 mil left/right.
  20. For us single stackers, i think an extra mag will be added also. for those who arent privelaged enough to live here, show up a day or two or three early. Tuesday night at Rio, Wed at SGC and thursday night if you want to drive a little: steel at south mountain then run to ben avery for cactus league. Just dont shoot too much steel before the big match, it makes for sloppy paper shooting.
  21. Another 4 of us are coming from phoenix, mailed mine yesterday too.
  22. I don't remember it at Mystery mountain, but i do remember it at rocky mountain where good ol Mr. Miller gave away a rifle he won, someone else a pistol and Benny a shotgun. I thought that was the coolest thing i've seen at a match.
