  1. What is crimp measurement?? With a 9mm, it should be about .375 or so, depending on the brass but that's a good estimate. Most of mine come out at .374-.377, depending.

Also, I agree with CocoBolo about the bullet/barrel combination - I've seen that before but not to that degree of group size.

    Let us know...

  2. Also, here are some posts that are helpful (the search feature is your friend :))

I did search those threads

First one is a 9mm STI load info - not exactly what I need...

Second one only mentions OAL/95gr once and the OP is experimenting with those loads.

    Hence my topic...

I was only saying those post are HELPFUL, not that they contain all the content you are requesting. I added my information in the first thread since I experimented with this bullet quite a bit, hence my posts...

  3. Normally, for those, don't go over 1.100 or close to it. I pulled it out to 1.110 and didn't have any issues and accuracy was still great (with N320) and it felt great. Once you get your load with 3N38 worked out, would you post it here? I'm looking to get some 3N38 soon and work up some Major loads. Thanks...

  4. Yeah, that was the thread I was referring to in my post but it just seems like there should be another way to get it or maybe any updates to get some. That was almost 6 months ago so I'm hoping something has changed and someone started carrying it.

I called Powder Valley and there are no plans of them getting it but I was just hoping there was another way.

  5. Yes, turn the die to the right until it touches the round, you will feel the pressure of the case neck, then stop, lower the shellplate, turn the die some more, raise the shellplate to crimp the case mouth, then take it out and measure...

  6. Lower the die until it touches, then lower the shell plate, turn the die another 1/4 turn down (right), then raise the plate/round up again to crimp. Take the round out and measure, keep doing this until you get the desired crimp...

  7. I got my Spartan 9mm last Friday. Loaded up some rounds and shot yesterday. With the MG 95gr JHP, I can't get it to feed more than two without a Failure to Chamber. I had some old Barrys HBRN that I haven't shot in a long time. They all ran perfect, no jams or anything and the groups were decent. I shot around 300 rounds of that load and it was fun. I'm shooting more tomorrow so I have to load up more of the Barrys until I get some FMJ MG or something else. So far, for the money, it's a steal. I now own 8 STI pistols and while this doesn't compare to the high dollar double stacks I have, it's one of the best SS I've shot in a long time.

Good luck finding one, I had a lot of trouble locating one in stock...most people are out until Apr/May...I think there is still one on GB but that's about all I could find.

  8. Oh, btw, I love my DeltaPoint 7.5 with the triangle. I purchased a mRDS, STS, DeltaPoint, a chinese knock-off, and a J-point. Out of all them, I like the Delta the best. The only thing I wish it had was an adjustment for the brightness. So far, in bright sun shine and gloomy days, it's been just about perfect for brightness. I guess I'm a control freak and would like to be able to adjust it manually. Other than that, it's the best small "dot" sight on the market for me.

If you are curious, I have it mounted on my custom built "Ruger" style rifle that I use for Steel Challenge. At my local club, I'm usually number one with it. Not bragging, just saying how good the gun and sight is, not me :)

  9. The Delta points are fantastic. The only drawback is, I agree the small torx screws for the adjustment. My solution was to abandon the soft torx L-keys and get a quality torx driver. I opted for one by Wiha, mcmaster part number: 53415A21.

Wow, I think I finally got this search thing down - this is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

  10. I recently bought the Sordin Pro X model. I have only used them for about twenty hours over the past month, but I have been very happy with them. The comfort with the gel pads is excellent, as is the sound quality. I was a little uncomfortable spending that much money, but decided to go for the waterproof hearing protection after having several sets of electronic muffs go bad. I've had two different models from Peltor and at least two Dillons die on me in the last ten years. I think it's because of sweating in them and ruining the non-protected electronics. I sure hope the Sordins last. The waterproofness was the reason I bought them over the competition.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I did purchase the gel pads and the cloth cover for them. They are so comfortable so far, a little shallow in the cup so if you have big ears, these may not be for you :)

Putting the batteries in was a pain. I don't know if it's just me or what but I had a difficult time getting the first one to drop in just right so I could get the second one in...very strange setup but it looks like it is for the waterproof protection.

  11. RANGE REPORT on the Sordin Pro-X...LOVE THEM! Although I was only at the range for a few hours, they were very comfortable, very good protection, didn't feel like I'm wearing 6x9 speakers on my head like the Pro-Ears, the controls are awesome. The only small con I can think of is they were a little tight but will probably open up a little with more use. I will be using them all day this coming Saturday so I will get a better feel then. Also I will be shooting a rifle so that will tell me how it works with the cheek weld. Will try to follow-up at that point...

  12. That can be aggravating but the opposite happened to me...I referred to my loading book log, checked my powder as usual several times, made 400 rounds to get ready for a few matches and then I noticed I was using the wrong bullet!! Dooh! After I did some checking, these were going to be very high on the PF scale so I decided to take apart every round...what a painful experience. I've been loading for a long time but I was in a hurry and that's what happened. You really have to take your time and double check everything - no matter how long you've been loading.

  13. My first Open gun in 1997 was a 9x21. I had it re-barreled for 38Super after about 5 years, it was getting harder to find brass/load data/etc. You might want to think about having that done and using something more readily available like 38Super or 9mm Major.

I thought I still had my old data but I can't find it. Good luck...

  14. Hey guys, thank you very much for the info!!

Gng4life: that combo chronoed at 925 during the summer, but only 898 that day. Not the first time I used it, but it's been almost a year since I shot last (Divorce...), and I think I was using W 231 last time ...

    Will order some N320 ASAP.

    Thanks again,

    Miguel.

Yeah, usually shooting the significant other will get you divorced roflol.gif

Powder Valley has a great price on it, that's where I get it from.

  15. I've shot a lot of Barry's bullets before and never remember it smoking that much, what are your loads chrono'ed at? I've not used WSF in the last 20 years or ever with Barrys. Seems more like the powder or combination of the powder and temp. Is this the first time you've had this combo (Barry/WSF)?

I'm very partial to N320 now but I haven't tried it with a 180. Seems like it would be a great combination. After doing a few searches, here are few links to check out:
