Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I added the short stroke spacer and 2 tungsten weights to an enhanced buffer- used to be 2 tungsten and 3 aluminum, now it is 4-1 and the spacer. For me it is a sewing machine, super smooth and fast and dot wiggle is way reduced. I would have to say it is done at this point, tried it on a bunch of different loads and weights, all cycled well but i am liking 147s and slow speeds best. Cheap brazer aluminum case 147s feel super nice. Stock spring, could possibly go lower but i am thinking i want to use different loads for different tasks. This gun is new to me as is the platform, I am still learning the trigger and am almost through my first 1000 rounds. Really liking the accuracy, longer shots my trigger control is not perfect yet. I am pulling a little too hard still, but the dot is staying put.
  2. wish this style came out for glock mags but they have that uplula. I use this one for ARs and prefer it. Works great on a table, you just tilt it hole/bullet tip up, and drop one in for every swing of the lever. Each direction loads a round. unloads the same way
  3. got a red one for 224 plus a free upper parts kit from ar15 safe space, that includes shipping
  4. i got a dd mk18 pistol and as a package it is amazing and accurate. I don't see the need for a stamp and a regular stock, a brace is fine. Super fun and loud, fast and i am comfortable out to 300 with it, but as mentioned much better under 200. I am really impressed by DD.

    Eye lessons

I recently lost my dominant eye in a freak accident. This is the sixth week of my new sightedness. I've worked my dry fire and drills around really locking in my natural point of aim, and trusting it. I'm needing to really have my front sights come up first and raise the rear to the sight, and then let the shot go. Often I'm on target before I can confirm with my eye and the whole draw-first shot motion is working itself out with much less eye involvement than before. I've had my grip pretty well sorted before the accident, and am now able to feel it better. I am much less distracted going through my stages- grip is all about grip now, sight picture is becoming less of a sticking point, and when I'm pulling the trigger my entire being is feeling the trigger. The trigger is now my main concern, that's what is going to pull me off target in a miss.My sight picture is much more stable without my eyes confusing me once it is on it is on. Without my eyesight trying to completely run the show everything falls together. This is still a new process I'm learning to trust, anxiety can crop up and ruin everything, just like it always did, but it used to manifest through my eyes and now attacks my breath. For me it is much easier to address my breathing eyes are a trap. here are a few not so zen observations- My non sighted eye tries to fill in detail based on what the other eye knows and off memory. I bet that happens all the time to full sighted lookers, watch out! I can now see my eye lashes. Curling them up helps my overall vision, it is like cleaning glasses. I wonder if it would help stereo vision to curl them up- it's one less thing for the brain to erase.
  6. I like the idea of tumbling with no media, thanks!
  7. Have you tried an anaconda? It might be the cowboy grip is throwing everything out of whack for you
  8. my 627 really liked the 158s, the lighter weights were less consistent no matter what load I tried. I got amazing groups with 158gr.
  9. Love the cobra carry! Has anyone bobbed a full size?
  10. I really recommend a spartan, the one I have is bombproof and very accurate. No issues ever.
  11. Taking a photograph or making a painting both require the same mindset as making a nice shot. I think they involve more subconscious parts of the brain..especially composition. There's also an aspect of getting into a flow in both photography and shooting that are complimentary.
  12. I've found the trigger on an XD to have a lot of over travel, and it is very hard for me to feel the shot break. I've only put a few rounds through them at the range in a "here try this" situation. I'm not sure how it would be once I learned the trigger, but the overtravel pulls me low left if there is any slop in my grip at all.
  13. I had the same problem until I got a lee factory crimp die. My 627 is very picky about the crimp. I might have had a slightly bad crimp all along on my auto loads but the way they get cycled into the chamber is a little more forceful than the revolver. I thought it was carbon too, or that some chambers were tighter than others. I think any little bur that might not necessarily measure can mess it up.
