  1. I'll second that. I like Dreamweaver because it makes it very easy to move between HTML and Deramweaver editing, and doesn't crap up the HTML with all sorts of options and tags which make even the simplest of HTML a real pain to edit. I also tried Net Objects Fusion, but it was extremely difficult to work in HTML for a variety of reasons, including their storage of you web page in their proprietary database and then exporting to HTML. Back on topic - another thing worth hating is web sites which post photos at full resolution, rather than coming up with a resolution (and file size) more appropriate to the display media.
  2. I guess that means that you could not purchase a gun and store it and bring it to the matches for them either ? What country is he/she from, not another Brit ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The individual in question was an Israeli. MA is a strange state. If you live here, and are a citizen, you can get a license to buy handguns, rifles, shotguns and ammo. If you do not live in MA, you can mail order a MA license to carry handguns and to carry and posess ammo even if you are not a US citizen, but you cannot buy ammo in-state. There is a specific exemption for persons attending matches or gun shows, but this does not cover persons living in-state. BUT... if you live here, and a not a US citizen, the only gun license you can get is one allowing you to posess a low capacity rifle or shotgun (but they will let you buy ammo). ------ NY is equally strange. It's illegal for a person under 21 to fire a handgun in that state unless they are a non-reisdent visiting the state for a match.
  3. Phil, I'm sorry --- you're wrong. Larry Eckert from Topton pulled a copy down off the USPSA server, and converted it into a document that could be printed on standard paper, folded in half and inserted into the USPSA rulebook for easy reference by match staff. That printout, handed to me at a section meeting in early February, clearly lists the SP-01 and P-01...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The USPSA list is simply the IPSC list with USPSA annotations indicating additions to the list, removals from the list, or interpretive comments on the list in red. The USPSA list you can view from the rules area of the USPSA web site is actually a composite of data from two sources. The items on the list displayed black are loaded directly from the database on www.ipsc.org, and the red alterations come from USPSA.org. If IPSC were to add a gun to the list on thier website, it would show up on the USPSA list instantly, and that data is retrieved from both IPSC.ORG and USPSA.ORG each time the list is accessed. USPSA is aware of the removal of some guns, and NROI is studying the issue. The removal from the USPSA list was not a specific act by USPSA, but a reflection of our incorporation of the IPSC list by reference. I expect USPSA will be able to state a position on this matter once NROI and the board has had time to gather and evaluate the relevant facts.
  4. If you are looking for a DVD and don't yet own a Tivo, consider a replaytv. They do not encrypt the format, are openly tolerant of hobbyists pushing the envelope, and there is a freeware program to turn a PC into a storage unit/server (java - I've run it on Linux and Windows without problems). Or, you could alwas go to www.mythtv.com. TIVO has done a much more effective job of maintaining complete control over the data stream, which I suppose is a good thing if you are tivo. When TIVO operating system images were posted to the web, TIVO threatened to sue unless web sites took them down. When Replay TV OS images were posted, ReplayTV would informally give you hints where to start looking - which made it real easy for me to repair an older unit, and upgrade the storage capacity on another. Loads of good info at www.avsforum.com
  5. "I need 6 inches of small brake hose" Here. "That's the correct inside diameter, I need the outside to match as well" No you don't. "Yes, I do. " Huh? "It's not for a car?" What do you mean it's not for a car? "My ammunition press uses a quarter inch length as a bumper on a roller pin" After three stores, I found one which had hose with the correct inside and outside diameter for the 1050. If I don't lost it, the section I bought should last a lifetime.
  6. Just curious - Why a McMillian instead of a Barrett? How does the AR50 stack up in terms of general quality an accuracy? Thanks, Rob
  7. USPSA did not "change" the list, IPSC did. The USPSA list is IPSC's list with our changes, noted in red, maintained by NROI. I'll ask NROI to follow up with an option regarding the SP01 in USPSA.
  8. Just to follow up on my post about scoring the match ... when I spoke to Dave Kenick I told him I would be glad to score the match if their scoring system worked with EzWinScore. His co-match director and I spoke a few weeks before the match and our mutual conclusion was the the scoring system they came up was sufficiently dis-similar to EzWinScore as to be unusable by that program. Since there needed a new scoring system "from scratch" there was not benefit in bringing in someone whose offering was to run EzWinScore at the event. This explains why I was not scoring, and how that was totally consistent with my original offer to the match. I'm glad to hear it did so incredibly well.
  9. Always have the seller remove the grips on a used gun when you inspect it. I've seen used guns (particularly blued ones, but stainless can corrode as well - just more slowly) which were regularly cleaned, wiped down after each use, and appeared pristine. Since the owner never removed the grips for cleaning and wiping with a thin coat of oil, corrosion set in where it could not be seen.
  10. If it's related to USPSA or a USPSA match, you can use www.uspsa-photos.org
  11. If you have a 9mm major build with a 9x19 breechface slide, you will not be able to go to 38 super (but will be able to switch to 38 supercomp). I expect a 9x19 major could work with a Super breechface, but that might be less optimal since it would be larget than needed.
  12. Another thing to try is to turn DHCP off in the router, connect a router of known speed to the cable mode, and connect one of the ports on your wireless router to a port on the known good router (use a crossover cable for this, although some routers have autosensing ports so a straight cable may work as well). You will then be using the router as a switch with wireless capability, but not using the NAT or DHCP features of the wireless unit - see if that makes a difference. If the performance slowdown is in the network address translation feature of your router, this could help. I use this topology at home, but not for performance reasons. My router w/NAT is in the basement connected to a second switch and all my systems connect at this point. I placed a wireless unit upstairs so that I would have best signal coverage, and use the DHCP from my main router, using the wireless unit as a switch w/wireless, but not as a router, NAt bor or DHCP server. Works great. The only problem is askin customer support about this. Most of the consumer level customer support types are trained to support only the most simple basic configuration. Rob
  13. Your best bet is to see if a club member can borrow one from work.
  14. Looks like the test found the test file in the browser cache and used an elapsed time which did not include actual data transfer in the calculation.
  15. Anyone have an idea what the stocking dealer price on a AR50 is and how hard they are to get?
  16. The usual suspects in MA are currently beating thr drum for a FN-five-seven ban and 50BMG ban. This means, of course, that I may have to buy a fifty soon. Any suggestions as to a quality firearms for a bit less than the $7K or so for the Barrett 82?
  17. Diet Coke through the nose on that one! That is the term used in the Second Chance video which discusses the UAP menace. Thre is also a neat scene of Richard Davis dealing with the Energizer bunny.
  18. There are a two phrases which persons teaching firearms courses find very hard to utter: "This is just my opinion. Other equally qualified people have a different opinion from me on this issue." "I don't know the answer to that question"
  19. What part of this isn't correct? The "overnight" is a UPS policy, not a law. BUT..... it may be a violation of law to not tell the shipper what's in the package, and they will refuse for 2nd day air if they read their manual properly. There may be some law somewhere which makes it a The shipper is virtually certain to deny any insurance coverage if the package was shipped in violation of their regulations. I have read that the "overnight" policy (also known as the "you pay extra because our employees may be theives" policy) does not apply to inoperable partial handguns such as frames, despite the fact that these meet the federal definition of firearm. The USPS handgun shipment form is http://www.usps.com/forms/_pdf/ps1508.pdf
  20. Do you really expect a police officer speaking on an official capacity not to wear his real badge of authority? In addition to the safety violations, one could also argue that his action of unloading his duty gun was disarming himself while on the job. I wonder if any regulations cover that?
  21. I just recieved theOK to post the minutes, and should get to it tonite.
  22. Hhhhmmm, that is odd, Rob. I asked my Area Director about the minutes and he replied that he had already voted on the minutes. Arnie I voted on the minutes as well. I am awaiting official notification from the USPSA president that the vote has been concluded and that I can post them. I will have it done the same day I recieve this notification, and I am reminding him now.
  23. I don't know about the 45ACP, but I find that the Case Pro greatly improves the qualify of my 40S&W and Super loads. I don't even have to worry about getting 40 "not from a Glock" brass.
  24. If this is indeed the case, the news media, including the Washington times, were fooled. http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/2004...90313-2463r.htm
