  1. --- The UPS guy calls the local police because he thinks that a delivery of thousands of bullets is suspicious. (This happened to a local shooter - nothing bad happened though)
  2. You think that's bad... imagine going to the movies later and seeing the stolen gun in the picture (happened to TGO).
  3. 1995 Grand AM, 151K miles vs. SVI Limited 40 and JP CTR-02 No contest
  4. Not a gunsmith, but a match food vendor, once got a letter like this from me which went like this: "I'm sorry you threw out the $700 money order for food in error. Our treasurer has contacted the bank, and they will issue a replacement money order only after a 6 month wait. If you had not treated us as a bad check risk and insisted on certified funds, we would have been able to enclose a replacement check with this letter."
  5. Really? And HOW will they guarantee that the competitor is really using the ammo they ordered and not something else? Unless they are going to use brass with a unique head stamp or other marking on it for match only ammo that changes every year the door is wide open for cheating. There are proposals under consideration, however, there is not yet any rule or procedure in place to handle power factors for match ammo differently from any other ammo. If any new rule is passed, a notice will be placed on the ammo program page www.uspsa.org/ammo. That being said, I would feel very comfortable using the 40 S&W and expecting it to chrono major. The loads I gave Nick were increased by .2 grains in final qualification to provide a reasonable margin. We targeted the ammo to make major with a bit to spare on a "straight average" basis. The chronograph procedure at matches (effectively a "best 3 or 8") provides the competitor with an additional safety margin.
  6. USPSA now has a Match Ammo Service whcih will deliver ammo directly to participating major matches. Relevant info: - Vendor is Precision Delta. Their complete product line is visible at www.precisiondeltasales.com and the USPSA Match Ammo Products may be seen at www.uspsa.org/ammo - Orders wil be accepted starting 1/1/06. The Florida Open, Nationals, most or all Area Championships, and other major matches will be participating. - We do not have 38 Super in the program at this time. - Precision Delta has developed "40 Major" and "40 Major Long (1.18)" loads specifically for USPSA. Michael Voigt, Greg "Chronoman" Lent and myself have tested these loads with great results. Precision Delta is now tooling up to manufacture these loads and will have them ready in January. - Precison Delta has done everything they said they would, when they said and met every promise of sample loads through the qualification process. When a company in Mississippi tells you they are "having a little rain" during Katrina and *STILL* meets their deadling, it gives the impression nothing can stop them. - 3 gun needs will be met with Wichester rifle and shotgun products. - In addition to the normal "case lot" sales, Precision Delta has added "250 round evaluation packs" to their product line for competitors who want to try out a match load without buying a full case. - Sales of ammo for match delivery are done via www.uspsa.org, and each match receives a single shipment of ammo with a delivery manifest listing what each individual ordered. Yo will be able to see the UPS or motor freight tracking number on-line so you will know you ammo has arrived before you even leave for the match. - Competitors purchasing ammo for delivery to themselves, rather than directly to a match, should deal directly with Precision Delta. - All loads use the same Precision Delta bullets which are available for direct purchase for your own reloading.
  7. My original offer stands: Email (rob@boudrie.com) or PM me with your member number and the numbers on your label that you are trying. Usually, this sort of problem is a printing issue, in which case I will be able to see that the actual PIN is very similar to what you think it is - in which case I will email you the correct one. Feel free to contact me if you can provide this information. I am not running a "lost my front sight" service, so please don't email unless you can provide me with the number on your Front Sight label (or at least what the number looks like to you). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As to broader questions: USPSA HQ was working a tight deadling with this survey, as they need to have resuls by the end of the year in oprder to satisfy a specific business need. I expect that USPSA will run another survey in the future, but I don't want to see members bombarded with lengthy surveys on a frequent basis. I know I'll be seeing Dave Thomas before the next demographic survey, and I will bring up the suggestions presented here. Rob
  8. Prizes for the survey: $150, $100 and a $50 gift certificates good for Precision Delta loaded ammo or bullets - www.preciiondeltasales.com
  9. -Chet The personal password you set does work for the survey. The "extra" password which world for on-line squadding is a "Squadding Code" which is specific to the individual match, and used for squadding only. If you have set a personal password and it does not work for you, email me the password and member number and I will investigate. (rob@boudrie.com or PM me on this forum)
  10. When I originally created the on-line squadding system, it used a separate PIN specific for the match which was provided to the competitor by the match director or automagically emailed by the squadding system. I later added the ability for the member to use their own PIN instead of the squadding-specific one (either will work). I added my dog's name to the mailing list for the associate member post cards so I would have confirmation the mailing was done (we use an on-line service which prints and mails the for us). Simon D'Og received his postcard on Thursday. Thse are plain white postcards so check your mail carefully. We also left the member number off the postcard so we would not have a PIN and Member Number on the exterior of a posctard.

    Cracked Slide

I meant "a character", as in A-Z. Replacement frame/slide/barrels are of the form A### or A####, whereas originals are AA### or AAA### where A is any character A-Z and # is 0-9. The frames in the US market all have the prefix US in the serial number, but this is not on the slide or barrel number. Glock used to make replacements with same # available (sure sure if they added a digit), but the last I heard, that service was discontinued. "Stock" replacements have the single letter character convention, and do not match the numeric portion of the number.

    Cracked Slide

As a bit of trivia ... If the serial number prefix on your replacement slide is on character before the digits, it was made as a replacement slide and not part of a gun. If it has two or three letters before the digits, it was originally part of another gun. Ditto for frames and barrels.
  13. Yes it will. Setting a personal password will not disable the PIN. The PINS are always 7 digits, and we ignore dashes in the number. XRE sent a PM with the member number/pin pairs he was using. The old one was expired, and the new one had one digit off (my guess is smudged ink on the label). I've sent him the correct PIN and he should have no problem now. I'll be glad to help anyone who can't get their PIN to work, but you MUST email me the member number and PIN you are using. I am not running a "lost pin service" and will not handle "look up my pin" requests ... even if I believe you are you.
  14. I like it when USPSA members go to www.uspsa.org and select the "Amazon and other referral programs" link in the left column, and then following the link to Amazon (or the other affiliated vendors). USPSA gets a comission of a bit over 5% from Amazon and it's "Free money" - you don't pay *any* more. If you get to the Amazon site via the USPSA site's link, USPSA gets paid. We've earned a bit over $900 in free money from Amazon in 2005 - It will easily go over $1,000 is member remember this program. Remember, it's free money for your organizaiton.
  15. The plight of Associate Members who do not get Front Sight has not been overlooked. USPSA is sending postcards to associate members which contain the PIN (leaving the member number off the postcard). These were transmitted to the mailing list late today, and should be mailed on Wednesday (or maybe Thursday).
  16. AS a foriegn member of an IPSC region, you are welcome to compete in USPSA matches without a USPSA membership. You might want to consider membership anyhow - you get to ocmplete in our classification system, and also get Front Sight magazine. Also, there is one club in Maine, near Augusta : (using the clubfinder at www.uspsa.org) MAINE PRACTICAL SHOOTERS Paul Mitchell Section: IPSC Area: 7 Club Number: IPSC55 Readfield, ME 04355 Home: (207) 377-3189 Work: (207) 622-6241 Email: northernxtreme@hotmail.com Mapquest reports a city to city driving distance of 56 miles.
  17. Answer it on the base of any USPSA/IPSC matches - if they're USPSA or IPSC 3 gun, or USPSA multi-gun, they count.
  18. I followed up with Clay1. You need to use your personal pin from teh Front Sight mailing label, or the private password you set in your profile on the members page. This is not the same as the password used to access www.uspsa.org/members (which is the same for everyone). Rob
  19. USPSA is conducting a member survey - there is a link on www.uspsa.org to www.uspsa.org/survey.php, and you will also see a link at the top of your classification report if you have not yet completed the survey. USPSA will be using this survey as a tool to market our sport to various sponsors and vendors in firearms and related industries. The survey results will not contain any information which identifies your specific indivdual answers. There are some prizes to be had. USPSA HQ is still working out details, but there is going to be at least one door prize for a survey participant. It's not going to be anything super expensive, but we will be giving away $250 or so worth of something that competitors can actually use. Every response helps, and the validity of the survey and impression that it makes on a vendor will depend in large part upon the number of members who respond. This survey requires use of your USPSA member number and Front Sight label PIN. We're doing this so we can provide recipients of the survey with assurances that only USPSA members participated, and that every member's information was only counted once. The survey will be open until 12/30/05, however, it will help if you could respond soon as HQ will be monitoring progress of this project on a daily basis.
  20. Glock makes the non-functioning and simunition guns in different colors so they can be visually distinguished from functioning guns. Swapping parts around to create a functioning firearm which has the appearance of a non-firing replica, or non-lethal simulation firearm, presents the obvious potential for a safety problem. I'd be willing to guess Glock restricts sales of these models for exactly that reason.
  21. There were two other Glock frame colors - red (deactivated training gun) and blue (a model which uses some sort of simulated ammo - simunition, I think). I know the red frame was a single locking block pin G17 frame, and that it could be made into a real gun by replaceing the neutered parts, and the same may be true of the blue frame. Obviously, doing so would not only be expensive, but would be a profoundly bad idea.
  22. I fixed it. I accidently uploaded an old index.html from an obsolete subdirectory to the root. It should be OK now.
  23. USPSA has a version of EzWinScore working with the Single Stack provisional division. There is additional "back end" data management tasks which must be completed before we can release EzWinScore (otherwise some data transfer processes will break). That will be complete on or before 1/1/06, at which point I expect Sedro will be able to release the EzWinScore update. Please do NOT contact USPSA asking for an early release of the Single Stack version of EzWinScore. Files generated by that program will break some of our current processes, and we are not going to release that version of EzWinScore until the proper support systems and back end are in place. Rob

    Ups

I once had a gunsmith tell me a package I sent had not arrived which was shown as delivered on the Fedex web site. Fedex called the driver, and found out that he "guessed wrong" as to which building it was (as he could not find numbers). They sent a driver out that night, move the package to the correct doorstep, and delivered a refund of my delivery fee the next morning (by Fedex overnight, naturally). ps to Pistol Pete - just imagine if you were in CA and had to endure a 15 day wait after the gun arrived at the shop!
