    Sig P320

Any one that can't figure out how to shoot it well , sell it , and buy what you think you want next . . Life's to short to worry about it . Some people will shoot most any trigger well with only a few rounds down range . Others never figure it out something new if its different . I take snap caps with me to a gun store so pulling trigger does not become a surprise at home !
  2. ZZT I can do that . Steve RA I have a little bit of clays , maybe enough for 50 rounds or a little more . I was going to give it a try . Thanks

As Clay K said . The trigger will smooth and see if you find it can be stacked , sort of like a good double action revolver . Only striker I have had that does not move up some amount is my kahr tp40. Its stead tight .
  4. open17 6lb spring . That's extremely light . What velocity are you getting . Vihtavuori and very hard to find around this area . I'm going to try to start with what I can lay hands on near by but will keep it in mind . I have been wanting to try some of there powders for years and but others when all where hard to find and still burning threw several 8lb containers . zzt that's the type load I want to start with Not looking for the run of the mill modern manual loads and I know some powders don't work as well at low volume . velocity can vary . Found some bullseye loads info that matchs what you have but 5gr of unique should give give me about 715fps Found a old reloader hard back that was put away 19 years ago when we moved to NC by Don Geary - The Reloaders Bible with some info that covers a few lite loads with red dot ,unique and bullseye . wgj3 My normal practice load is 200gr swc at 964fps . HP is 200gr GD at 1110fps but I just don't shoot it any more , I do have a decent amount of standard loads set aside if he decides to step up in a years or so or I buy a different 45 for me .
  5. For the next year power level is not a concern with the local group . Looking more for a bullseye - cowboy type load but as concerned with pistol set up as the load . 12 and 14lb recoil springs are ordered 18lb hammer spring is in the pistol on now. I loaded a few 200gr coated swc ,Winchester primers . I will star with this bullet going to avoid clays and hp-38 at low volume levels as it reads to be temp sensitive . We shoot if its hot or 25* out . Gona start with Unique -around 5.0 gr May try some bullsyeye too starting at 4.6gr Trail Boss A local shooter the gunshop owner put me in touch with has some Trail Boss he's going to let me try . He loads 4.0-4.1gr gr could move a 200gr swc at about 700fps and might cycle with a 12lb recoil spring and 18lb hammer spring and can go up to 5.5gr and still be slow if I can get my 1911 to run like his . Its not a dollar wise choice of powder as its a high volume powder . 9oz in a 1lb typical container but may be the best to start with. Low pressure powder even when at max .
  6. Thank you. Have something to work with now .
  7. I have a 10 year old grandson that loves to shoot and has little fear of snappy handguns with in reason . He has shoot my p320 with my carry ammo 155gr 1321fps . He has an interest in trying uspsa . He has shot my practice loads in most of my handguns but loves the 1911 platform . I don't shoot it much so setting it up for him is fine . May problem is I don't know what would make a good soft controllable 45 load . 155gr or 185 or the 200gr but don't know what powder to use or how lite to start , I have some unigue , a little tite group and a bunch of hp-38 . My old range load is a 200gr swc at 1040fps and he shoots it but it works him , moves him around . I'm still running a stock well radiused firing pin stop . I have 9mm's and 40sw's but he wants to try the 1911 and he can reach the trigger . Also looking for any help with recoil and main spring for a 5" 1911 that should work with the load
  8. You have picked an interesting area to live . Naples and surround areas use to be more shooter friendly . I moved away19 years ago but was born and raised there till 40. Guess by now you have found Wayne Bergquist gun smith . Used to be a good guy and talented smithy to deal with . The shooting range sporting clays and matches moved after I left from the swamp buggy tract range out behind what was know as Remuda Ranch and Port of the Isle's . Collier county use to be one heck of a place to live for an outdoorsman type . . Louland gun club - Sure you know of it by know .
  9. First off I can figure out how to post a photo here . I am computer stupid and can't figure out the attachment garbage and can copy and paste from photobucket like on other forums Sooo. no photos . I am at odds with a holster I bought for the p320. A Garrett silent thunder Fusion . Its a nicely made holster that will work for most pistol in the same general size class but its not as adjustable as my old comp-tac neutral I have been using for some years so I have a ,Hope it works P250 body coming for it . I wear a iwb a bit differently from most Think cross draw but on the strong side . I wear just in front of my hip bone canted to the rear so the grip is parallel to my belt , high enough to get a clean grip. That angle moves the barrel forward so siting and driving is easy and drawing the pistol place's the grip in a more normal position to grab . The holster is very well made to and mine has held up very well to right around 10 years of use . It does have some extra leather at the bottom for long barrels that I cut off . I like the p320. It has the heaviest trigger I have short of the double action trigger pull on my DW revolvers I hunt with. I had planed on having a trigger job done to it to get it down to 5lb range but the more I shoot it and dry fire it the more I like it as it is for defensive needs . I find its more like a well tuned revolver DA trigger than a striker trigger pull. On Mine the take up is 5lb pull , then a little bit of "creep" at the wall with an additional 1.5lb pull to fire. I find I can use that "creep " to stag the trigger while waiting on the sights to settle to fire again. I like the grip well. The recoil impulse is rather flat if anything over sprung a bit even with the hot 155gr 40sw underwood ammo . I think if the trigger pull was in the 4.5 to 5lb range I would have to treat it differently . More like a typical striker trigger . Fire , get off and back on the trigger quickly with out the pre- staging . Make sense to you ? Anyhow the pistol when shot from a rest is much closer to a good 4" revolver for accuracy than the average semi-auto . My CC for the last ten years has been a kahr and I have 28 years of concealed carry with a highly tuned snubby both with 5lb pulls .

    Sig P320 .357

Let me start by saying I have not shoot a match in some years . So my view as from a carry ammo and pure plinker load perspective . I have enough time shooting a friend 357sig in a m&p full size and my 40 m&P full size to say when comparing a 125gr sig and 135gr 40sw both using underwood ammo hot ammo they feel the same . Power factor goes to both the 135 and 155gr 40sw but not buy much . I also have some low power 40's my grandson shoots , 155gr coated swc at 1000fps or a fuzz less that have always been reliable in my M&P . But in the sig p320 you can see the slide dipping as it goes back into battery and the slide will not lock back reliably with those light loads . Hardly any snap up, but easy to see muzzle down as the slide close's . So I will say the 40sw sig p320 is over sprung . Time for a bruce gray fat rod / spring fix for grandson use . I have looked at the 357sig time and time again and always stay with the 40sw .
  11. Helps me , just got in a couple thousand 155gr swc Missouri coated . Thank you .
  12. I bought a standard full size round top 9mm conversion kit to go with my match 40 . Cleaneed everthing will wife drove to a monday night match .Walked in with loaded clips and slid the upper on and shoot the match . Never looked back. Another upside is gun shoots to P.O.A. unlike the adjustables.
  13. You might try the stock fixed rear sight. I have one on my 9mm conversion kit that i also use on the 40 s&w match and ordered another to try on the match . Filed the front sight to meet your needs, shortend and narrowed it up a bit . painted the face yellow. Works better than the junk adjustable sites. It also wouldn't break. Hard to beleave as good a gun as these are no one has a darn decent set of sights to run on them.
  14. I have had a 9mm conversion for sometime with no range problems. I did buy 2 extra mags so i have 3 for that caliber and treat them just like any mag . Take it apart ,clean ,debur and lightly coat with breakfree then check the mags with one round and fully loaded to see if they all set the same and then for slow hand function . I have shot bullets from 115gr to 147 fmj and 124gr GD and 115grCD ammo. The CD is by far the shortest of the buch but cycles and shoots fine, atleast for 200 rounds of hornady CD.
  15. My bright idea someone would help out????
  16. vous i am just a weekend shooter and right now shoot only factory loads ,georgia arms. I have not had trouble with standard OAL in 1500 rounds but did see right off when two new mags were bought to go with my 40 witness match that they did not carry the rounds in the mags at the same angle as the one mag that came with the pistol. Both mags gave trouble at home just chambering a round and i tuned them to set the nose of the rounds parallel with both the one stock mag and the tops of the mag openings,( the angle thati s). Used a small brass hammer and plyiers. Worked great scents, bought two more and did the same thing to them. I do shoot at a monday night indoor match. Also bought a 9mm conversion and had two adjust one of three mags but never had trouble at the range after around 1200 rounds. I have seen both nose high and low on rounds in the mags between the 2 calibers and 8 mags i do have. Had some old 1911 issue junk years ago so the first thing you did was look for what could be problems. It was always the mags.
  17. Henning is working on some new site for us in several styles includeing night sites. If your rear is fixed try the stock site used on the match. My eyes are bad for close up work and i took my stock front site and filed down the sides of the side to give me more view around the front sight and then put some flouresent paint on it. It works for me with the rear cranked up almost to the max. Check out ( henningshootsguns ) for other accessories and new stuff as it comes avalable. He is the guy to work with.
  18. I don't have a 38 super to try but i do have a 9mm upper for my 40s&w full size and the mags (4) with inserts all have all worked fine. No problems at all but only about a 1000 rounds total of 9mm have run through them.
  19. I think i am going to concact tanfoglio directly for what thats worth just to tell them how helpfull the girl at eaa is and how much of and ass there gunsmith is. Just got off the phone with the guy and was told that if given the serial number that they could send the right followers, CAS you should fax the pictures you have to them So the dummies there can see the difference. 800-536-4442 ex. 205 or ex. 206. All i learned is that the pictures in there nice coloored flier they have is worthless for knowing what is soppose to work with what.
  20. I did see some differences in your followers and i went up and broke mine down to look at mine should be the same according to there info but mine are different but work just fine so i have a call in for Eaa's gunsmith to have him look at some to. Look at your followers and you willsee that the one that works for you would seem to be the one i also have in my 40 and the one that does looks like my 9mm follower. Differences ,,,In the left photo there is a square notch behind where the holdopen would rest in a vertical line and and on the left isde where the bullet would rest there is square edge on the top of the follower with it would rest against the mag wall just like my 40 follower, on the right photo there is a rolled vertical area where the hold open would rest and on the right side there is a beleveled edge on the right side of the right photo like my 9mm has. Basic hieghts and sizes are the same overwise and my 9mm follower would jamb tight in the 40 mag if i just let it pop closed. I am going to find out for me cause there info catolog shows both should be the same but are not . I would say you have some 9mm or maybe 9/40 followers and i also my have a mix but it does not hurt me. I will get back when i find out what the right follower is But would say if you have not ajust your mag bodies try'n to fix your problem that the followers you have that work is the type you need in your other mag bodies...
  21. Nope ,I have only about 200 rounds now through it and just cleaned to look over. Will go to indoor range tomorrow and fire another 100 ,so far so good. The spring just rides in with the stock spring and nothing strange yet. Buffers allways seem to wear out at the worst time in my limited pistol past. Most of the 1911 shooters to i have talked to don't use them anymore. Today was the first time i found all my brass out side and the only thing different is i hear ever round hit the ceiling of the range. But it is only about 7' high. Seems the brass goes up more than out.
  22. It does turn in the same direction ,just at a much differnt rate of twist. Had to go look to be sure.
  23. Have someone hold a cardboard box over your pistol when you shot it .That should trap the material and you can then deside what it is..It will stick in the cardboard or fall back to the ground so maybe a old sheet on the ground too
  24. I know yours is a 10mm but the idea is the same. and hope it works for you . It did take some setting around the house with a good pair of wire cutters and just cut and slip in a section of 1911 spring in and see if i could chamber a round, this is where i ended up at,( the picture above). Went to the range and it seems to work good but i do keep my wire cutters in my range bag in case it jambs up. Never had a jamb yet. I will cut a little more off and try again. It is nice not to have to look 20 feet away for brass. Your recoil spring my let you go a bit longer ,i was told to start with a 1" piece and cut from there.
