  1. Hi Because we have two 550s we mounted the 550s to 3/4 inch plywood; drilled holes into the counter top and used t-bolts to hold the unit in place. this way we can also take the units on their plywood to the range to chrono the ammo as we reload. you could do the same even if you have one. See previous posting for pictures. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5485&st=875&p=1043003&fromsearch=1entry1043003 TnJ

    Chick Flicks

    yup - J for Julie
  4. Hi I am getting a new open 38 super with a C-More and a Quinn II side mount. With the previous discussion regarding the Range Master Holster digging into hips I am wondering if it will work with this set up. I am also a female so I tend to wear my belt more on the upper hip then the waist. thanks julie

    Chick Flicks

being a wife myself, it's better to go to a chick flick with another chick. I never understand why wives want their husbands to go.
  6. I use the belt keeper all the time as extra precaution to keep the belt on for the reason above; don't want to get DQ'ed
  7. Hello Does anyone have experience with the CED Range Bag? either the professional or the deluxe. I'm getting a new open gun and want to get a new range bag. I am considering the shooters connection range bag but don't gag, my open gun will have blue grips so I was hoping to get a bright blue bag which CED has. Of course I will go with quality and functionality over colour but if quality and functionality are equal then colour wins. Julie
  8. I make it a practice during the make ready to turn the dot on and always take a sight on a target before i load and holster. It is now drilled into me second nature to look for the dot and ensure it is on.
  9. I did a quick look at the IPSC Perfect Practice Pro to determine if I should purchase it. I would have thought it would allow you to record your drills and monitor your progress. compared to other fitness programs it doesn't have much for the same price.
  10. Hi Jeff we didn't get the PM julie
  11. Hello thanks for the info. I have ordered a C-More with a Quinn II side mount. I will add pictures when I get my open gun. julie
  12. Hello I am new to open guns and have been reading the posts about red-dot sights. They get too technical and into comparisons of brands. My question is what are general the pros and cons (differences) between a slide mounted type red-dot vs a c-more like red dot sight? I am having a new STI 38 super open gun for IPSC competition made for me. Some background. I have been shooting for only 18 months and one year of that doing IPSC competitions. I started with a Kimber 45 and quickly went to a 9mm M&P. My main goal for the past year has been to improve against myself which I have but it still isn't fun always being last. I'm a petite female and not very strong (yet). I have a fabulous friend who lent me his STI 38 super open gun and I loved it. Got me excited and motivated again! It has a c-more and I do have occasional trouble finding the dot (however, only shot with it 3 times all in competitions so i know i will improve). Last weekend I was able to try an open gun with a sight mounted red-dot. I found it easier to find the dot but it moves up and down much more than the c-more. So in addition to the general question above any difference in parallax error and if so should i be concerned? Is there any difference in accuracy? thanks very much Julie
  13. Jeff Did you develop the program? I understand the comment about having limited time and thus focusing that time on practicing rather than fitness, however, if you already have a fitness routine it would be good to change some of the exercises to be specific for shooting. Is the program gender specific, i.e. are there exercises for females vs males? julie
  14. Hello everyone let's get this thread back on a happy note. My husband and I went to Fort Benning for the first time last year. It was his first 3 Gun match and I went as an observer. We had also never been on a US Fort before. Wow what an amazing time we had; and the ride in a stryker! Hope we will get in and see you all there in December. Thank you so much to USAMU, the Maneuver Center of Excellence and Linda.
  15. If you're as nice as you sound, then it should be easy to make new friends.
  16. I have the CR now and I'm considering the Double Alpha however, based on this thread the Double Alpha is larger and I'm worried it might be too wide for small people. Do any small females have a preference? Julie
  17. Hi Shawn I like you am relatively new to to USPSA - I am currently shooting with a Les Baer Ultimate Master 45cal and am classified as a C shooter in limited 10 and single stack. First let me say the Les Baer it is a great gun and i love it - can you hear the but coming - however what you think you want now may not be what you will want to shoot in a year. Sounds funny - but are you sure you know what you like shooting ie limited, limited 10, single stack or for that matter open. If you want to shoot limited you can have a gun built for almost the same price as the semi custom Les. As much as I love my Les - If I had it to do over again I would have stuck it out with my 1911 Sig and then had a gun built. On my Les I have made only two changes and am contemplating a third - 1. I put a thin fiber front sight (love it and it have really helped) 2. I put in a full length guide rod - again made a very nice difference. As you know the gun comes with a concealed carry "enlarged" magwell. I have been contemplating changing this as i need all the help i can get on reloads. I am shooting and competing a lot more and exposed to other clubs and shooters - I find things that I want in my next gun and here in lies the main issue with buying a semi custom gun. You are spending the same or almost the same as a custom gun but not getting "everything" you want or will want. If money is not an issue then please disregard; however if it is continue shooting with your current gun while trying other club members and ask a lot of questions and read a lot of forums...Then look at the Les Baer again. All this being said there is really no right answers here only experience specific to me and my shooting style - and as for shooters when you put three in a room you will get four opinions and ultimately they are worth exactly what you paid for them. Good luck with your decision. TnJ
  18. We have to thank all the ideas and pictures we found on brian's forums for reloading workbenches, so we are posting the solution that we installed. In our spare bedroom we used the closet so that we could close the doors and the workbench would be hidden. The room is used as a workout room and a tv room. Guest have no idea what is in the closet. When we move, we just remove the bench and the closet is back to normal. We installed an unfinished kitchen cabinet and a 3 drawer unit with a counter top. All available from the local hardware store. We bolted it to the wall for stability. then we installed a light under the upper shelf for more visibility. the use of the original closet shelf plus the cabinet and the drawers provides lots of storage space. Because we have two 550s we mounted the 550s to 3/4 inch plywood; drilled holes into the counter top and used t-bolts to hold the unit in place. this way we can also take the units on their plywood to the range to chrono the ammo as we reload. The solution cost just under $300. TnJ
