I use a marvel .22 conversion on a wilson combat based 1911 and really like it. Like the others have said above the feel and weight are a little different but you cant beat the cost of ammo or the trigger on a custom gun.

I have an aimpoint with the primary arms 5x magnifier. It has the fixed mount which has to be tightened with a wrench in order to stay tight. The optics are good but the eye relief is poor and the magnifier makes the red dot BIG. I would like to find a flip to side mount as well and thought about the one of the clones that ebairsoft sells but they have poor reviews

The ability to customize your ammo and learning about ammo in the process would make it worth while. If you buy a sdb and don't like it you will be able to sell it for 80-90% of cost immediately.
