  1. Intercooler - Daaaang, are you serious? 270 PF?! Do you mind sharing your load data/specs?
  2. Sweet! Hey, r0kawn, is that the Springer GP6 grip tape on your X Cal?
  3. How's the trigger compared to the K100's single action pull or the Walther PPQ M2's pull?
  4. Thread resurrection. Henning - do you have any updates with the shims you were working on? Nealio - the Sprinco has the exact profile (for the area that contacts the frame) as the stock guide rod. Since the Sprinco doesn't have Henning's Cone-fit profile to increase the contact area, wouldn't it continue to peen the frame just like the stock rod?
  5. I thought the large frame was all you could get in the U.S. (assuming you're American). I remember reading that the small frame couldn't be had here.
  6. I'm more impressed with the Tanfo. Better trigger, all hardchrome, all around smoother. But if you ask the CZ guys, they will probably tell you the opposite.
  7. I wish the slide and barrel were hard chromed too!
  8. Thank you, Nealio. That is very helpful. You're right. I guess reading IS fundamental.
  9. Is that a faux pas around here? I'm honestly not on the forums enough to know the ins and out of acceptable ettiquette.
  10. If you do and are looking to replace the factory guide rod, you might want to check out my ad in the classifieds. Link below. This will keep you from beating up your gun
  11. Wouldn't the opposite be true? The taller the front sight, the lower you have to point your gun to get the proper sight picture.
  12. That's a beauty. How much did it run you, if you don't mind me asking?
  13. All the Elite pistols have those stampings at the right rear of the slide. They are proof marks that all Euro-made pistols have. Just like Walthers and Austrian-made-and-assembled Glocks (not the usual Glocks that are made in Austria but assembled in Georgia). Don't stress, your pistol is all good in the hood.
  14. Looks normal to me. Tanfo makes great pistols, but they do tend to have little 'imperfections' like you captured in your pics.
  15. Thank you, Rich. Can the tungsten layer be plated over hard chrome?
  16. Could that Rocklinizer be used to improve a sloppy slide to frame fit? Or to put a layer of tungsten carbide around the end of the barrel to tighten up a loose barrel to slide fit at the muzzle?
  17. JW, Thanks for the reply. Did your barrel have a ding in it or did it have the rounded crown at the 12 o'clock like I mentioned? I'm glad EAA took good care of you.
  18. I posted this also in Henning's forum. Are the barrels of the Elite series (Match, Stock, Stock II), both standard profile and cone lock, hard chrome plated? Both inside and out? Thanks!
  19. Maybe I should repost this in the other EAA forum here. It just befuddles me how Tanfo can make such beautifully made pistols for a reasonable price - with features that you can't get from other manufacturers - and then they mishandle the barrels in a way that the muzzle crown (perhaps the most important part of the barrel for accuracy) frequently gets dings! I have 6 Tanfos - a standard Wonderfinish FS 9mm, 2 9mm Elite Matches, a 40 Elite Match, a 10mm Stock, and a 9mm Stock II. Three of them have imperfections on the crown....and it must be common because you and others I've talked to have the same experience! How hard is it to assemble and box the gun off the assembly line without dropping or dinging parts?! One more thing to add. If you take a good look at a "match" barrel's (whether standard profile or cone bull) crown, you'll notice something peculiar. Examine it in good light at different angles. You'll see that from 1 o'clock to 11 o'clock, the crown is cut cleanly, sharply, evenly, and perfectly. But at the top, 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock position of the muzzle, the crown is not cut sharply, but rather 'rounded' over. At least it is that way on all my Elite Match and Stock barrels. Obviously it doesn't affect precision, because my Elites are fantastic shooters. But it is strange and makes you wonder if they could shoot even better with a little more care of the barrels during manufacturing and/or plating.
  20. Skydiver, Thanks for your input. Actually, I'm not shooting lead or moly bullets and will not be using the vinegar soak. The reason I'm asking is that because there are a couple burrs/imperfections on the muzzle crown of my polygonal cone lock barrels, and I was thinking of having them re-crowned. So if the barrels are completely hard chromed, that may open up a whole new set of problems. Come to think of it, my question extends to the Elite Match barrels as well. I have a 40 Match that has a ding on the crown as well.
  21. As the title says, are the polygonal cone lock barrels, as seen in the Stock and Stock II pistols, hard chromed? If so, is it bore and exterior, or just the exterior? Thanks!
  22. I've owned both guns, and the Witness Elite Match is far superior to the CZ until you get into the upper echelon CZs, IMO.
  23. Thanks, Mark. I was playing with the JBM Ballistics calculator, and couldn't really find a load (with my current components) that would match the reticle with a 16" 5.56 barrel.
  24. What loads/barrel length will work with the holdover points?
