  1. I know I'm really looking forward to ROing and shooting this match. Thanks again for the hard work getting it together! Sean
  2. I was shooting a local classifier match and on 06-03 I nailed the first string reload. It was a thing of beauty until the mag dropped out and hit the floor. I recovered and finished the string, laughing it off. Then I did it again on the next string. Two mags on the ground in one stage. Yeah, download mags on classifiers. I get it...now. Sean
  3. I shoot a Match and I've shot lead, jacketed and moly coat with no issues. Sean
  4. I've got a match with several Henning parts on it. It's got a Champion rear and a henning iFiber .095 front. I've also got a cut up magwell on it. It's not really made for it, but it works just fine. I did crosshatch the front and rear straps with a checkering file. I didn't like the vertical serrations. I also have cut down Henning aluminum grips with skateboard tape on them. I'm a C class shooter right now, and it's as much as I need. I may look at a Limited later, but for now, the Match plenty. It shoots well, feeds just about anything and always goes bang, as long as I load the ammo right. Sean
  5. I use WST. I've shot lead, jacketed and moly coated with it. I prefer jacketed indoors, but the moly coat isn't TOO smoky. I've had really good luck with it. It recoils a little less than WSF, but I haven't really tried much else. I have my loads down, so I have no reason to play around with other powders. Sean
  6. Henning has outstanding customer service. He always goes above and beyond. I've spoken with him several times, and I've always gotten great service from him. As long as I shoot I will buy from Henning. Sean
  7. After your vulgar display of shotgunnery, I'm not to worried. Espesicaly if your using glens gun, which I would recomend. Wow...vulgar display of shotgunnery...very nice. I really appreciate Glen loaning me his gun, but this time I have a year to get mine set up and prepare for the match. I'm just saying...
  8. Wild, that's right. I remembered his name wrong. It was a great time, and Matt isn't the only one you'll have to worry about next year... Sean
  9. Matt Wise won first in pump. G.T. came in third. This was an incredibly fun match. Trapr and Kurt did a great job putting it together and I really enjoyed getting to RO. I'm looking forward to doing it again next year. The competitors were great and I met some wonderful people this weekend. Oh yeah, Kurt put together a great brown ale. I agree with Josh, let's do this one again. Sean
  10. Thanks, and I'll see you on Saturday...for donuts.
  11. You'll get it. Just keep shooting. Do you have a group of friends you shoot with? I'll tell you what, having people to shoot with every week and help you along is one of the most important things. And it makes this game more fun. I know that several of my classifiers took a couple of months to get put in like they should. At one point I had 2 classifiers in the system and after the next entry date I had 6 and was classified. I still have one missing, I think, but it's not a big deal.
  12. Yes, I've been practicing my reloads, Kurt. I've also been working on getting faster between shots. I'll be at the range Saturday working on it more. I've got that Thursday off before the match so I can help set up and test everything if need be. I assume you're still in the great white north? Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to the brown ale.
  13. B is my next goal, but I don't know if I'll make it before DTC. I've got two all classifier matches coming up, though, so I have a shot at it. After all, I'm only 4 classifiers away from Grand Master! Thanks all!
  14. I started this game in September of last year, and I got lucky to start off shooting with some great people. They've helped me out all the way, and pushed me since the day I started. Thanks to their instruction, friendship and more than a few coldbeers, I finally got my first classification. I am now a C class limited shooter. So thanks to Mike, Kurt, Scott, Javier, Henning, et all. It's only been 6 months, but I've had a great start. I appreciate everything. Sean
  15. I'll take one for the Match, definitely. And if everything works right, I'll see you at DTC. Sean
  16. Kurt has talked me into trying this whole shotgun thing, too. I'll be shooting manual, so I hope there's enough of us out there. I'll also be helping out with the RO duties. The stages look like a lot of fun, and I will be practicing over the next month to try to be at least mildly proficient. Thanks, Trapr and Kurt for putting this thing on. I'm looking forward to it.
  17. I smoked for 15 years, 2 packs of camel filters a day. I quit 5 years ago. I'd postponed smoking several times, but this time I went to the lake for a week and took 1 pack of camels. I didn't tell anyone I was quitting, but when I ran out on Tuesday, I didn't go get any more. Sunflower seeds were my crutch during this time. I ate a bag a day for 2 months. I just had to do it. There was no cutting down, no weaning off, I just had to put myself in the right position and quit. No more. I hope you can do the same. Sean
  18. I'd be all about black w/ grey logo and sand w/ forest logo. Sand is one of the best colors, but I love a black shirt, too. Sean
  19. Welcome to the board. Do you ever come shoot down OKC way? Sean
  20. Xtreme makes a plated 220; it's $132/1000, so it's not too bad overall. I got SNS Casting 220s for about half that price, and it gives me a chance to try them out without dropping too much on a test.
  21. 139 FPS SD!!?? What is up with that? Were you drinking while loading again? M Must have been a typo. I wasn't drinking while loading, but I may have had a cold, tasty adult beverage while typing.
  22. I picked up some SNS casting 220g lead and some BlackBulletInternational 200 and 180g moly coated bullets to play with some different options. I figured the moly might be a good choice, but the BBI moly coated bullets were smokier than the lead from SNS, which were very hard and clean. I liked the 200s but I won't be using the moly coated ones. 220g, SNS Casting, lead 3.3g WST, WSP primer, 1.175 OAL 1. 727 2. 714 3. 721 4. 716 5. 735 6. 708 7. 727 8. 722 9. 738 10. 719 H - 738 L - 708 A - 722 PF - 158.8 3.4g WST, WPS primer, 1.175 OAL 1. 741 2. 735 3. 727 4. 734 5. 730 6. 723 7. 734 8. 728 9. 732 10. 728 H - 741 L - 723 A - 731 PF - 160.8 So I'll load the 220s at 3.6g WST at 1.175 OAL and I should get a nice major. I'll have that data next week. 220g BBI, Moly coated 4.2g WST, WSP, 1.175 OAL 833 855 827 849 826 716 736 824 826 833 H - 855 L - 816 A - 832 PF - 166.4 So this load made major. The average wasn't much higher at 4.3g WST, OAL 1.175, so I won't post the data here. 180g BBI, moly coated 4.6g WST, WSP primer, 1.175 OAL 927 941 945 968 934 942 983 937 928 946 H - 983 L - 927 A - 945 PF - 170.1 Even the low made major here. I liked the 220s, they were remarkably soft and my sight leveled quickly on every shot. It felt more like a .45 than a .40. I've got 480 more of them, and I'll load some up major and use them at my next match. After that, depending on how I like them, I may have to order a case or two.
  23. Ok, these loads are at 1.175"; I haven't shot any of them in the XDm yet because I have a match this evening and I didn't want to shoot more than one gun at the range today. I did get some good data for my EAA Witness Match, and since the Match requires about .2 grain more powder than the XDm because of the different OAL, I'll use this data to start my loads for testing in the XDm next weekend. As an aside, the BBI moly coated bullets were smokier than the lead from SNS, which were very hard and clean. 220g, SNS Casting, lead 3.3g WST, WSP primer, 1.175 OAL 1. 727 2. 714 3. 721 4. 716 5. 735 6. 708 7. 727 8. 722 9. 738 10. 719 H - 738 L - 708 A - 722 PF - 158.8 3.4g WST, WPS primer, 1.175 OAL 1. 741 2. 735 3. 727 4. 734 5. 730 6. 723 7. 734 8. 728 9. 732 10. 728 H - 741 L - 723 A - 731 PF - 160.8 So I'll load the 220s at 3.6g WST at 1.175 OAL and I should get a nice major. I believe the XDm would make major at 3.4g WST, OAL 1.135, but I'll have that data next week. I believe that I'll see major in the XDm at about 4.0g WST, OAL 1.135. 180g BBI, moly coated 4.6g WST, WSP primer, 1.175 OAL 927 941 945 968 934 942 983 937 928 946 H - 983 L - 927 A - 945 PF - 170.1 Even the low made major here, so if I load these for the XDM I'd probably load 4.2-4.3g WST. I liked the 220s, they were remarkably soft and my sight leveled quickly on every shot. It felt more like a .45 than a .40. I've got 480 more of them, and I'll load some up major and use them at my next match. After that, I may have to order a case or two.
  24. Well, I just received some 180 and 200g BBI moly-coated bullets and some SNS Casting 220g bullets. I'll be loading them this week and shooting them this weekend. I'll chrono and post all the data. As for the bullets themselves, the quality of the SNS 220g bullets seems to be superior to what I've been shooting so far. The lube is only in the groove instead of all over the bullet and the alloy is very hard. SNS has 180 and 220s in lead, and I'll probably switch to them for my lead bullet purchases. I'll let you know what I think of the moly; I've never shot them before. The cost is between lead and copper so it may be a little less expensive overall for a bullet I can shoot indoors and out. Sean
  25. I go to 1.130 OAL for the XDm. I go to 1.175 for my Tanfoglio, but you can't fit them in the XDm mag. I am going to try some 200 and 220 grain bullets soon, and I'll post the data for both guns.
