We just got in and are unpacking. This match was a huge amount of fun, even with the "Disassemble and show clear" I had on stage 3. Juanita and I really had a good time shooting with squad 1 and enjoyed getting to see all of our friends and make some new ones. Thanks to Sam, Kurt and Linda and all the ROs for working so hard so we can all come and play! Congrats to all the division winners and especially Katie for high lady! Keep after it! See you at Arkansas in a couple of weeks!

Hey Edwin, there were two rifles that we used on stage 6 and between the two of them I'd say we put close to 7500-8000 rounds through them in 3 days. They ran like scalded dogs all weekend. There were 4 malfunctions: 3 FTF/FTEs with handloads and one with factory (not sure of the brand)...but the factory case that came out has damaged in a way I've never seen a rifle cause before. It had dents and scratches all over the walls of the case but no apparent damage at the neck. Yeah, they ran great!

I had a great time working this match...and stage 6 was a great one to work on. The Sabre full autos were great! Thanks to all the competitors who worked so hard to help keep us on time and the 4H kids who came out and worked just as hard as everyone else. Thanks to all of you who made donations to help them keep shooting. Sabre and Adams Arms, you guys put out some great rifles for us to play with, and thanks again for that. Allan, I loved getting to shoot the Barrett 338. That was pretty cool. Thanks to all the other sponsors who came out and supported us and a big thanks to the NRA for coming to play. I hope you guys found what you were looking for! Yeah, the rain sucked, but the right decision was made. That was really the only way to go at that point. There was quite a bit of lively discussion, but the end result was the same. Andy, Mike and Bret, you guys put on a great match. Jim and the General and the Rockcastle guys, you have a great facility and I'm glad I could come play. I'll be back. Oh yeah, STAGE 8!!!!

I use Choate 6 rounders consistently. I load 3 at a time most of the time, but I'll load 4 if necessary. I'd rather load 3 and 3 than 4 and 3 because I dropped one. Having the extra couple has been known to be helpful as well. I've only found one issue with the Choates. I like the belt clips on them, but they have no spacers or extra room like the Cali Comps. I bought some buckshot before HPSC that didn't fit because they were capped, not crimped. Luckily I was able to trade them out, so I didn't have any issues (Thanks Mike!).

Well I'm just about packed up. I need to buy some more birdshot...I just went through a bunch at High Plains. I'll be headed that way on Monday for the RO shoot and then I'll follow you guys around for a few days. See you there!

I'll certainly be getting some tickblock, and probably some spray, and I'm going to start taking garlic pills a week before so I taste bad! Hey, it works for skeeters, so it's worth a shot!

Drove back up to OKC last night before the weather hit, and I'm glad we did! It was nice to get to shoot in good weather but I would have enjoyed shooting it just as much in this weather, too. Great props, fast fun challenging courses of fire and great people. Thanks to Robert, the staff and all the ROs! You guys put on an outstanding match and I'm glad I got to shoot it. I had a cold, tasty adult beverage for you all when I got home!

If you didn't listen, you wouldn't know why we did it.

Yes, each alpha is -.25. One alpha does not neutralize. You must have two hits on paper with pistol and rifle. Slugs are scored with time added and subtracted as well, but each slug is worth two hits. One slug hit on paper neutralizes the target and scores the same as two pistol or rifle hits. So if you hit an alpha on a slug target it is -.5. If you hit a delta on a slug target it's +1.0. Your comment about the slugs is the purpose of this scoring system. If you can save a second or two by being accurate, it's worth your time to do so. You can still hose, but it will cost you time overall.

I'm thinking of putting a big, red R on the stock. It's already got a loud exhaust. I'm not sure where I'd put a wing, though.

I really had fun down there shooting with you guys. Thanks to all the RO's and match staff for putting it on. I know you guys had your hands full all weekend long. Thanks to Benny for the hospitality and advice, and I enjoyed meeting all of the great shooters in our squad.

Well I finally got my app sent this morning and a room reserved at the match hotel. I'm looking forward to getting there for the Friday shoot. I just hope the weather is better that it was at Area4, but I'll be prepared for anything from the next ice age to the desert, wet or dry.

I was in the Navy myself, from 90-96. I grew up in the Navy, because I had and knew nothing before I went in. I've done my best to make sure that my son has more opportunities that I had, and even though he has other options, I think he's making a great decision. "Attention to detail!" Thanks everyone. Absolutely I'm proud of him. He had his first DEP meeting today. They are starting to learn how to march and he did a lot of pushups. He is applying for ROTC, but if he stays enlisted he has chosen submarine advanced electronics. He's going to test for nuke as well. He is going in either way. It just makes me think of how important the time I have left before he goes... They grow up really fast... Sean

My son has made the decision to serve our country in the Navy. He has joined and is in the Delayed Entry Program. He's 17 and a senior in HS and as soon as he graduates he'll be a military man. I am so proud of him, and there's so many things I wanted to write in here and I can't get them all out, so I'll just leave it there. Sean
