In practice I noticed that my time to first round from the holster was about 1.6. Unsat. So I really put effort into dry firing. At home with a .6 to .7 par time set I can now draw to an acceptable sight picture. Last night at live fire practice I could only get to 1.04 with most being 1.1-1.2. An improvement for sure, but why the disparity between dryfire and live fire times?
I just went 4 or 5 matches without cleaning and it bit me in the rear when the gun started hiccuping during the last match. I will be cleaning every week now.
My open Caspian gave me some of the same issues last match. After a good cleaning and PLENTY of 5W30 it runs fine. I might go back bearing grease on it. Haven't tried Slide Glide lite yet.
I learned from triathlon that I need electrolytes. (hyponatremia in not your friend!!!!) My wife and I use Skratch drinks. Green tea flavor is my favorite. I drink a bottle of that for every bottle of water. Sure helps!!!
Oh it went bang alright..... She had good muzzle control, so it hit the berm. Only happened when she reloaded on a locked back slide.
But...whew.. Scary stuff.
My wife's gun followed at a match and she got a DQ. I added a little tension on the center leg of the leaf spring. Fixed the problem and the trigger still breaks nice at 2.5#.
My wife and I are shooting Western States Single Stack in November. Does anyone know what RV camp sites are close to the range? Something with RV hookups.
Pretty much all of them. Not many carry optics, revolvers, or L10....but thats normal. Limited, open, single stack and production are all well represented.
Im shooting it this next weekend. In practice yesterday, standing was much faster for me. I shot it in 6.18 with good points...now if I can just do that this weekend!
So my wife has taken to shooting and has been having a ball shooting single stack this year. Her trigger was horrendous though. I put a Brazos trigger in hers just like I have in mine. With mine there was not problems whatsoever. It ran great. Hers appeared to run great......
Fast forward a week to a match in Albuquerque last weekend. She ran one extra shot on a position so she had to reload from slidelock. No worries.....until she slammed the new mag in with vigor causing the slide to fall and a round to launch into the berm. "STOP" . She was DQ'd legit for her AD during a reload.
We got home and I tried it with a dummy round. Sure enough the hammer followed when the slide fell.
Trigger bounce i believe. Adjusted the spring yesterday. Think it's fixed. But dang sure a lesson learned.
