  1. Hey Pete congrats, nothing like being ahead of schedule.
  2. I can't speak for the glock, I just didn't like the way it felt in my hand and I must also add I haven't shot one. I shot all summer with a SW Model 59 9mm and just replaced it with an XD9 5" 3 weeks ago. I now have nearly 1200 rounds through it w/o a hickup and here is a group shot from 30' with my reloads. These were shot with the pistol resting on a bag and I was kneeling. I am happy with the accuracy, dependability and feel of the pistol. I haven't done a trigger job on it yet but I have a couple of friends that did their own with the Power Valley kits. I believe they run around $50.00 and you can do it yourself.

Matt's got a point there, the crude we see coming right now will take a bit before it clears the refineries. I have a future son-in-law that works for a distributor in the Metro Detroit area. I will ask him if he knows what the normal time it takes to show up at the pumps.

I am probably going to date myself here but I remember as a new young driver growing up I paid .17-.25 a gallon. Then 1974 hit and it took a pretty good jump and has been climbing ever since. The only solution is to end our dependance on foreign supplied oil, clean out the cooruption in our own government, and find a renewable energy replacement.

2.99 here in mid Michigan and I am with HighVelocity, when it gets to 1.50 a gallon we will be paying a fairer price.
  6. Dang! Good thing it wasn't the 10th floor! Did you know what was going on as it was happening?? Nope, no warning at all, I got on on the 3rd floor and it continued down without applying any brakes till it bottomed out on the ground floor. It didn't free fall, it would be similar to stepping off and dropping 8-10 feet w/o warning and no way to prep for some kind of landing. Took me totally by surprise and I guess everyone near the that end of the building heard it and felt it.
  7. Thanks JThompson, they have the elevator out of commision right now waiting on a sensor to come in. I talk to work today and apparently a sensor that is suppose to slow the elevator down failed so my decent from the third floor to the basment didn't have the brakes applied to slow it down.
  8. Update, they are now sending me for an MRI because it appears I may have a disk in my neck ruptured, causing bad headaches, no reflex in my right arm and shooting pains down my right arm....UGH!
  9. Yea..happened to me today at work. Home now with a softneck brace on that I have to keep on 24/7 for a pinched nerver in my neck, sprained lower back and right knee injury. Workmans comp doc says with these pain pills, steroids as an anti-inflamatory I will be good as new in a couple of days....Not sure I will ever get on an elevator again....Man these pain pills are starting to dull the pain anyway.... Laters
  10. Ditto on the great pics and thanks for posting them. I didn' shoot in a match this weekend but I spent some time making my backyard range wider and longer and then spent part of this afternoon practicing shooting on the move......
  11. Good for Ken, the one and only IDPA match that I was able to make this year Ken was our RO. There were 3 of us that just stated competing in April and all we had exposure to was USPSA matches. Ken was patient with all of us and helped us get through our first IDPA. He took the match that day and I was really impressed with the way he moved and shot. I look forward to shooting with him again sometime.
  12. I did a little upgrade to the range yesterday and throught I would share it with everyone. I now have 20 yards that I can use and have widened the range by almost double. I still need to build up the side berms a little more but for now this will have to do. These two shots were taken from the deck As you can see I don't have a long walk to get to the range.
  13. Crap J I hope you get it down ok. I just had a physical on Tuesday and had my blood drawn today. They are checking the lead count also at my request. At first the my doctor didn't think it was necesary but I insisted it be checked and he gave in. I also need to quit smoking as on my last lung function test showed I have very early stages of emphysema. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
  14. Thanks for the input and link Chris, I like the idea of being able to add the magwell. Shooting the 59 had pretty limited options.
  15. JThompson, The dealer I found my used one at said that was over. They have extra factory mags instock at the price of $39.00 each. It comes with 2 and I plan on getting 2 more when I purchase the pistol. This will give me 4 total for the next USPSA match next Sunday. I believe I can get by with 4 because the round count for the stages are low.
  16. revchuck, thanks for the reply. Looks like I will be placing and order with Dillion to get set up to load .40 now . A friend of mine has some 180 grain Precision Cast bullets that we are going to try to run through it. If they do then I can get them locally. I have some Universal Clays on hand and found a load for the 180gr . This sport sure is addicting. Up until last April the only pistol I had was a S&W 38 special that had been loaded with the same ammo for the last 10 years. I keep it in the night stand for home defense. Since April I have acquired a Ruger MarkIII, S&W Model 59 9mm, Kimber II 45, Dillion 650 and soon the M&P 40. Also I am planning on attending a RO class in November so I can give back to the sport.
  17. Hello everyone. I am looking at a slightly used M&P 40 to use in USPSA. I really like the feel of this in my hand and the trigger pull seems really nice compared to my S&W model 59 9mm that I have been shooting this summer. I have been shooting lead only and hope to hear from others with this gun that are also shooting lead. I have a Kimber II 45 that just hates any kind of lead bullet. The SW 59 shoots anything I feed it so I am hoping I will hear the same about the M&P 40. Any feed back (loads, problems etc.) will be appreciated. TIA
  18. Ok as promised here is the load data I have so far. 125gr LRN Rogers Better Bullets Mixed brass Win Gold Primers 10 rd string: 1039.2 FPS high 983.0 FPS low SD: 17.8 CV: 1.37% MAD: 13.9 CV: 1.37% AV: 1012.2 FPS ES: 56.2 FPS AVG IPSC Power Factor: 126.6 Recoil, sharper than TG No noticeable smoke VERY ACCURATE! Crono is a PACT II I am going to clean my gun and shoot a hundred rounds of this today and check to see how dirty it is compared to TG.
  19. I just loaded up some 125gr lrn with 4.5 grains of wst and and a oal of 1.140. I will test for accuracy then crono and report back
  20. Mine have always run a deviation of +-.003 for a total of .006. Last time I checked Remington factory ammo it was worse than that.
  21. Gary what loads are you running through your Kimber? I just got a Kimber Custom II and the only bullet I can shoot out of it as of now are FMJ's. I haven't found a lead round that will not catch on the barrel. BTW congrats on your clean match, someday I hope to shoot so well.
  22. Judy thanks for the training session today. I will bring in my laptop tomorrow.
  23. I just went through working out an issue with tumbling bullets that ended up being caused by OAL. I have been reloading 115gr bullets with an OAL of 1.115, 4.1gr of TG and crimp of .375. I switched to 125gr bullets and started working up a load at 3.5 gr of TG with an OAL of 1.120. Working with a loaned crono I stepped from 3.5 to 3.9 grains. At 3.8 grains there was a spike in velocity and I settled at 3.8. I didn't shoot any paper so I missed the fact that they could be tumbling. They seemed resonably accurite but at the first match all the shots tumbled. I got home and immediately started researching causes of bullets tumbling. Bullets undersized (50 samplings showed .3562-.3565 Bore shot out (pistol shot fine with 115 both reloads and factory bullets. Had 3 friends try them and they all tumbled) To much to little powder, wrong powder (I called the bullet manufacturer and he stated he loads all his 125's with TG at 4.0) All casings were of the same head stamp I called the manufacturer back and we discussed his OAL. He was loading to 1.140 so I gave this a try. Low and behold the tumbling vanished from all the pistols. I now have off hand groups of 5 at 30 feet that touch each other. Just a lesson learned that I thought I would pass on. Make sure to shoot your new recipe through paper before you go to a match and find out the hard way. Good luck Bob Edited to fix my spellinnnnnnggg errroorrs.
  24. I used 115 gr Billy Bullets with 4.0 grains of TG, 1.110 OAL and crimped to .377. They power factored in the 130 range. They shot just fine and no leading however I did get some smoke with this combo. I am now using 125 gr of Rogers Better Bullets with 3.8 gr of TG, 1.140 OAL and crimped to .377. These power factored in the range of 131. I am getting smoke and have not shot them long enough to comment on leading. I should also add then when I was first working up the load I loaded to 1.120 OAL. Shot them on my range at home through the crono and at some steel and thought all was well, however after shooting them at a match I discoved the bullets were tumbling. Lesson learned (SHOOT THROUGH PAPER!!! WHEN TESTING) . After a lot of playing around I went to and OAL of 1.140 and all is well. They group real nice at the 15 yards I can shoot here at home and no signs of tumbling. I should also add that both of these vendors have been great to deal with.
