Man I asked my wife if she would like to spend some quality time with me and load the primer tubes and she just gave me a funny look....

I am very new at this and have done some video taping of myself with the built in cam on my laptop. This won't work for everyone I realize but if you have a setup like this you may want to give it a try if you don't have a video camera. I have a range with one stage set up at home so this works for me. PS...once I get somewhat smooth I will post a few videos. Right now my mistakes are so obvious to me when I play the video I don't need to post them...). Even my wife, a none shooter can see them. Is there any hope for me?

Last 9 years developing data driven Web Sites, 15 years before that I managed GM service departments (Director). 10 years prior to that I owned a small trucking company. Also worked as a marine Deputy during the summers.

Once they get the recall all cleaned up and work a few of the bugs* that I noticed on the several new ones that I have handled I think they will be a great pistol. *Gritty trigger pull (both with a mag in and out) and sticky mag release.

Guys I have this exact problem with my brand new 650 and I am using the Dillon dies. I have found that if I stand in front of the machine everything seems to work ok. It's like my timing is wrong doing it any other way. I have about 1000 rnds loaded now and if I stand off to the side of the loaded it will do it almost constanty. I will be calling Dillon on Monday because my case feeder fails to start back up and load more cases sometimes and a shake will get it going again. The clutch isn't slipping and the motors doesn't hum when it does this. It just fails to start again. I think the micro switch might be bad. Anyway sorry for the thread drift here. Other than these minor issues I can easily get 450 to 500 rnds an hour just putzing along. I did find out right away that I sure go through primes quickly and will be order more sm. pistol primer tubes.)) Bob

Are you using brass with the same head stamp? I have noticed that I get a wider standard deviation when I am mixing brass. Just my 2cents from another newbie trying to learn also. Another thing I can think of are you tapers all consistent? I just finished setting up my new Dillon 650 and loaded 20 rounds last night to run through the crono this morning once I know everyone is up.

My future son-in-law created a Power Point Show to surprise me with a new Dillon 650xl w/case feeder. We were sitting on the deck and both of us had our computers. I was browsing the threads on this board (like I do a lot) and he asked me if I had seen the new cool new Dillon presentation. I asked him which one he was talking about and he turned his computer to me and a Power Point Presentation was on his screen. The first screen of the presentation read: Dillon Precision Products, Inc Reloading Machines The second screen talked about the features. The third screen showed a picture of the 650xl with some features specific to the 650xl. Then the fourth screen showed the optional case feeded. So I am thinking to myself...ok I have seen pretty much all of this dozens of times only in a little different format. So I click to the next screen and this is how it read: Dillon Advantage Tired of your single stage reloader? Sick of working an hour for 60 rounds? Using a friend’s loaner equipment? Ready to start spending more time shooting and less time reloading? Dillon’s XL 650 could be your answer! Hmmm...Ok...this hits home pretty well for me. My best friend had loaned me enough reloading equipment to get me started about 2 months ago. And since I put this range up in my backyard I am shooting a lot more and spending a ton of time reloading. So the fifth screen read: Because of people like…. (then below the text was a picture of my wife, both daughters, one son-in-law and one future son in law) Now I going holly crap...did they get me a Dillion 650....???? And sure enough the sixth screen reads: You can get out of the basement and do a little more of this…..(below is a picture of me shooting).WHOOWHOOO.... Then the seventh screen reads: Happy Father’s Day! Your brand new Dillon XL650 is in the mail! Just thought this was so cool and wanted to share it with you guys....)) It should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday so I am going to take a vacation once it is here to get it set up. I downloaded the manuals and have been reading the Dillion forum on here for the last 5 weeks or so. I think I know what I need to do and know I can always get info on this board or from Dillon. BTW it was ordered setup for 9mm and the die set from Dillon is coming with it. Happy fathers day to everyone. Yea it was a great match...even considering my constant brain farts....lol.. The storm hit here about 10 minutes after I got home. My range here had lots of water in it but I fixed that problem today.)

dj, this was a life long dream that became reality about 4 years ago for me and my wife. We bought this property, hired a contractor and had our log home built. The range just fits perfectly where it is. Keep hoping and good luck!

Ditto here Rob, and thanks! After todays storms I have several inches of rain up by the tragets. I will fix that next week with more fill in that area. Yea...steel will be nice:)). Another fun match today and I see our scores are already posted. I got a ton of penalty's today ....(but they were fun ones..) Laters....

Ok glad to see someone else has that experience. Last weekend I shot about 500 rnds with my 22 then jumped to my 9mm. I thought on the first couple of shots that I had grabbed some over powdered loads.

Dansy I wish I had time in the evenings to shoot that but I don't. Lot's of other things that have to be done around here in the weekday evenings. I do go through a couple hundred rounds on the weekend days though. Getting hard to keep up with the reloading...

You bet! and the same goes for anyone else that wants to stop by. Saturday a friend of mine came over and we practiced from 11:30 to 4:30. Had a great time, shot 40 rounds or so, then sat and gabed or surfed the net looking up info(I have a wireless router) then shoot some more. Sunday my oldest daughter and her fiance came over and the 3 of us practiced. She will be taking an all womans course June 14th and I think she plans on competing also...))

Thanks everyone, took about 3 hours of tractor time (which is always a good thing also) and that's what I ended up with. I have a friend coming over tomorrow and we will be doing some practicing. I have a question about the non-falling steel. Will the 45' distance be far enough to be safe from the splatter?

Hi everyone, I have been primarily lurking and learning here. What a great resource it has been. I stated shooting about 2 months ago after not handling a pistol for years. Years ago I was a part time marine deputy and also was an MP in the military...again many many years ago. So I can't really say I am new to shooting a pistol...just really really rusty. Anyway in the last two months I have shot two local matches and have managed to get two very close friends, and my daughter interested in it. Actually my very close friend was into it pretty heavy, then about 5 years ago things like job location and such took him away from it. I have about 5 acres of property that is very hilly and was able to come up with a practice range at home. Total distance that can be shot comfortably is 45 feet, and it's not very wide so practicing moving and shooting will be very limited. But still....I can shoot at home. And another plus I was able to hook up with another member from this forum that lives in the same city I do. He has been a great help and I have lots to learn from him. Here are a couple of pics:

I am shooting a Model 59 S&W and the dummy rounds camber completely and eject ok. I will tear down the pistol tommow and drop one in at the 1.128 length and make sure it seats like factory rounds do. Thanks guys...

Hi everyone, I am new to reloading pistol ammo. Years ago I reloaded my 20 and 12 guage loads. I am trying to find OAL data so I can use up the rest of some Winchester Action Pistol powder I have. I have googled and came up with nothing usefull for OAL. I am loading 9mm rounds with 125grn round nose bullets and 4.3gr of the WAP. The bullets are an older Valiant with a shoulder on them so I assume I can't go any lower than the shoulder. Right now I am at 1.128, I could go maybe a little more but don't want to push it. The dummy loads I have setup the loader with all have the bullets tight in the brass (they don't wiggle), and chamber fine. Do any of you happen to know when I might find something in print rather than guessing like I am now? Or recommendations from any of you that might have played with this combo before. Bob TIA
