  1. It was 2 different boxes of a 1000, purchased at different times from different vendors, so I don't think they were the same lot. Didn't notice anything different while loading, and I pay attention to the amount of pressure I use.
  2. WLP - Winchester Large Primers
  3. Yeah, I've been loading pistols on and off for 30 years and hundreds of thousands of rounds, and haven't seem this.
  4. I don't really have enough info, but here is what I do have. .45acp 185 LSWC 1.255 oal Solo 1000 - 5.2grs WLP ave velocity 894fps I bought a Sig Scorpion a few weeks ago, cleaned it after about 800 rounds and noticed the breech face was starting to erode around the firing pin hole, obvious it was primer leaking. Looked at some of the primers and didn't see anything wrong, not flattened, no flow at firing pin indentation. Loaded up some more and went to the range, fired a few rounds checking the primers. I finally saw a black ring around the primer, yeah, now I've got something to look at. Fired a few more rounds to get more samples. I had also loaded up some 230 LRN's at 750fps, and ran 100 of them, with no problems. I went back through and carefully inspected the last 300 rounds fired in the gun. 3 kinds of brass, Winchester - no problems, Federal - a small percentage cracked, R-P - 1 in 10 cracked. I've seen primers leak in the old days shooting Super at 180pf, but this cracking. Any ideas? oh yeah, I've shot 2300 of this load through my Kimber with the Winchester brass, and it has a couple of spots on the breech face, but not as bad as the Scorpion. So I would assume brass has something to do with it. Just not sure what to blame. I'm thinking the Solo 1000 must have a high momentary spike, but just not confident that answer. So what do you all think? Thanks I just punch the primers out and set them in cases for the photo.
  5. So there is a use for a Glock, who knew? jk
  6. Have you seen Maggie? LOL, didn't think of that
  7. I was surprised Chris T said he didn't take the team challenge serious enough... wow. yeah, didn't leave me with a good impression, how much worse would it be if he was your teammate? why were they cocking the hammer everytime in practice? they were obviously going to be shooting multiple targets.
  8. Thanks, I was kinda wondering why they picked him instead of Maggie. I thought maybe it was because she was multi-disiplined and he wasn't. wrong again...lol
  9. Is Chris T just a pistol shooter? or 3-gunner?
  10. Can't wait to see what they do with the Tommy Gun.
  11. Somebody mentioned Harbor Freight parts washer I fill mine with mineral spirits.
  12. I've used it, very soft shooting powder. The reason I stopped is, my buddies and I shoot off tarps so that it is easy to pick up the brass, and after 200 rounds there's all this greenish-gold dust on the tarp. At first we thought it was just pollen or something, but on further investigation it was the filler that AA uses in this powder. It seems soft enough that it wouldn't hurt the barrel, but who knows, so I quit using it. Anybody else notice this? I've experienced this with #5 #7 as well, but at the time I didn't realize it was from the powder.
  13. I just noticed that it says $100,000 "IN PRIZES". WTH??? it can't be worth it, you'd have to pay taxes on the $100,000, but the prizes could be a bunch of stuff you don't want, and only cost the doaners a total of $20,000. smells fishy to me.
  14. Hey Matt, so how many hits did you have going down the zip line? how many targets where there total? "that's the size you have now" GREAT line bud
  15. Ahh, found 'em, I think I actually ran across that before, but didn't understand that you put one on the other. Thank you, skip
  16. I know people have done this with other mini-red dots, but I haven't seen anything for the STS. I want the STS because I know it'll be bright enough and I can get a dot size bigger than 4moa. I shoot plates in Texas, and with bright sun on the white plate, the dot has to bright. If I can't get this done, what's my next best option? Thanks y'll
  17. back in the 90's I used to do it. Then I went to Area 5 on the 3rd stage, which was a lot of running, I did exactly as I did in dry fire, pull the trigger to rack the slide. BANG! DQ! I've never even thought about doing it again, the trigger job can be redone, the DQ can't.
  18. My buddy just got a MM, I've only got to shoot a couple of mags through it, he hasn't got to shoot much more than that...lol I like light fast cycling guns and man'o'man is that it. For taste's it's perfect. I shoot a very old Behlert, see avatar, and the 2 feel very much a like while firing. The transition of MM will be much faster than my Behlert due to the extra muzzle weight of my comp, but the cycling is very much a like. I love it, and if I had the cash wouldn't hesitate to get one. A lot of people like the full size guns and they do shoot differently. He's also got a Bedell full size, which I like a lot, but MM just feels quicker to me. I haven't shot them side by side yet. Hopefully this weekend.
  19. Have you thought about using a checkered insert to simply cover the chain link pattern with checkering? I guess you could even do a little careful grinder work to make the front strap smooth and then use the insert and the size change would be almost zero. http://egw-guns.com/store/index.php?main_p...products_id=131 That might be the ticket. It says they machine out the frame and tig in the insert. Now that he's not doing gun work, I wonder if you buy the insert and then have to find a smith to do the work. I'll ask him. I've used the Wilson's in the past, and think the skid tape is just as good. thanks though
  20. The guns is actually at EGW getting the dust cover repaired, long story, but he doesn't do gunsmithing anymore, my gun is the last gun in the shop and he won't do the breechface. Thanks Benny, I'll check there.
  21. I have an old Behlert built Series 70 Colt that has breechface erosion. There used to be an insert that you could get, but I can't find them. It might be something that's long gone now, I haven't shot the gun in over 10 years, but would like to get it fixed up. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Who made them? Do they still exist? Thanks
  22. Thanks for the heads up, ordered some.
  23. hey 2More, that's actually what I'm using, it's good, but my open gun has 20 lpi, and it can't move when you grab it, I like that. thanks though
  24. Excellent, thanks Rich. I wouldn't care if the STIpple still showed a little, I just need more grip. Using grip tape, but that's no substitution for real checkering.
