  1. It can happen here, just as 9mili said. I've some relatives that just don't understand that people can be violent and refuse to believe that it's the person, not the weapon.
  2. Thanks Friday, that's what I was hoping for. I'll order a quantity of it now.
  3. Hey guys, lots of good info here. I just tried some S1000, 125 zero JSP, 1.130 nailed my target of 130pf. Question I have is, how temperature sensitive is this powder. I'm in Texas, and it was 65 degrees yesterday, but I'm worried when the temp goes above 100 if the load will hold. Thanks
  4. Well, alrighty then, don't know how the wife will react, but let's find out...
  5. I can't find any, anywhere. I stopped by one place today and the guy said something about all the distributors sold out for inventory, so they don't have to pay taxes. Does that sound right? Does this happen every year then? I haven't been shooting or reloading in about 10 years, and don't remember it happening back then.
  6. is there anything in the barrel now?
  7. There's more to it than this. The comp keeps the barrel locked up longer to the slide which means the pressure is controlled by the chamber longer. If the barrel unlocks to quickly, the brass "will" blow out at the base, brass can not hold this kind of pressure without the chamber. Be very careful running 9's to major in a stock gun, heck, be very careful running 38 Super to major in a stock gun.
  8. they look cool, but is it better than grip tape? It's still plastic that gets slippery.
  9. This was Springer Precisions answer when asked on the XDTalk forum. He sells the Dawson's. the stock is .160 the adjustable is .285. The fixed front is .205.
  10. couldn't that be because the bullet is in the barrel longer thus letting the powder push for a longer time on the slide? My buddy's trying to work a way to measure slide speed, I'll try and hurry him along.
  11. Can you get these for a 1911, rounded trigger guard? Where would I get one? Thanks.
  12. I am using 38 Super Comp, forgot about that. Our local club isn't USPSA or IDPA, we just shoot Open(comp or optic), and everything else is Stock, so 11 rounds could come in handy on some of our stages. Thanks for the reply's
  13. I bought a Tripp Cobra mag for my 38 Super Trojan. I wasn't diggin' it much, there was so much tension if slammed a loaded mag in with 1 in the chamber that it would stop the slide on the way back. After some putz'ing with it, I figured out I had 11 rounds in the mag. Has anyone modded one to run 11 rounds? I wouldn't think it would take much. Just enough to allow that last round to compress a little.
  14. Need pic's, many, many pic's please
  15. I learned to shoot fast by filling the magazine and pulling the trigger as fast as it was safe till the mag was empty. Put the target at 7-10 yards and let 'em fly. Now here's the trick, don't worry about the hits just yet, just pay attention. Pay attention to everything. Start with watching the front sight, just watch it. After you learn to watch the front sight, try paying attention to your trigger finger. More to the point add attention to your trigger finger while still maintaining attention to the front sight. Then start paying attention to everything else you can while still going fast. Then do Bill drills, this brings the control back into the mix. People learn to shoot in a reactionary fashion, ie when the sights line up, start to squeeze and hold if the sights move off, then add a little more tension as you line the sights back up. With the advent of the speed shooting disciplines, people learned to control where the front sights were going, and have already squeezed(prepped) the trigger in preparation to break the shot when they get on target. Peace out
  16. 38 Super Comp. It stacks sooo much easier in the mag. Neither my friend or I have had to do anything with the extractor, but there are instructions on Hennings site. Great choice of gun.
  17. done most of this, no ransom rest. I always get circular groups, I can usually measure at least 2 directions(4 different holes of course) and the group size is equal either way. Guns only got 1000 rounds through it, maybe I'm expecting too much from it. May call STI and ask them if I'm being unreasonable. G-ManBart, I've tried both .355 and .356 Zero's, JSP's and JHP's, can't tell any difference. Cautery, WOW, great stuff, but I'm going to work that hard for the local Steel shooting I do. I've just read a lot about the Trojans being accurate, and expected around 2" groups, maybe that's my mistake. The gun functions wonderfully though. Thanks guys.
  18. LOL, "on the nag"? that's a new one to me, can you explain?
  19. hmm, I was still trying to hold 6 o'clock on an NRA bullseye target with the top of the sight, I'm just not sure these old eyes are seeing the top correctly with the fiber....hmmm May have to switch the sight back to make sure. Man, what a pain, that sight is tight...
  20. just thought of something. The Trojan is the only one with a fiber optic front sight, could this be messing me up?
  21. ES's less than 40 SD's less than 14 funny enough, the worse on the chrono is what groups best. OAL is less than .002 usually less than .001, but once in awhile it get one that's drifted. All the same lot and number of firings on the brass, even tried brand new brass.
  22. Throwin lead, that's almost exactly the process I use. Just can't get this Trojan Super to do what I want. I'm missing something, just don't know what...
  23. Well, you all have seemed to sense I'm having a specific problem that lead to this post... I stopped shooting about 10 years ago, and started back up this past spring. So I know I'm rusty, but with my old Behlert 38 Super I can still pull out 10 shot, 2" groups at 25 yards off a bag. I have loaded for my Witness 38 Super and get 10 shot, 2 3/8" groups. now my problem, I bought a Trojan in 38 Super, and I can't get below 10 shot, 3" groups. It's driving me crazy, and I don't really think it's the gun, so I guess I'm hoping to find some advice for making the load more accurate. I'm using Zero 125's, tried both JSP's and JHP's, same results. N320 for powder. I'm trying to hit 125 - 130PF, It still may be me, and the trigger....
