  1. Looking for suggestions for the smallest fiber optic front sight available for my JM PRO would like a screw in but it's not a deal breaker if it isn't. .040" or .060" would be ideal haven't had any luck finding one but I've seen them on others shotguns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Went with the Tru glo 950 front only, as I needed a taller front bead to lower point of impact. 0.060 fiber optic rod. Used green as I like it more than red.

  2. I use the PWS FSC30/FSC556 in open; the rest of my group uses battlecomp 1.0's (I have different threading, so I can't use one unfortunately!). Nothing but compliments on the battlecomp 1.0's. For myself, I do love using the PWS and while it does look cool, the main reason I like it is because it controls muzzle rise very well and also reduces flash to near nothing in night shoots (if you do those at all). My rifle is heavy by the way--I think around 11-12 lbs, so my rifle doesn't have a lot of recoil to begin with, but these brakes work well and don't cost an arm and a leg. I found a couple new take-offs from Scars for $50 a pop. I'd try out a few comps and see what you like best in any case.

With all due respect, the Battlecomp is not in the same league as all the other comps mentioned in this thread, in my limited experience. Its more of a "hybrid" or "tactical" comp, meant to have less concussion and blast than typical comps, but is also somewhat less effective in stabilizing the muzzle. Much more pleasant to be next to someone using one than an open sided comp.

Sold my BC and am running a Carbon Arms comp; more effective, a bit louder to the shooter, but not obnoxious to ROs or fellow shooters at the range, based on personal experience. May go back to a more tactical comp in the future, as my only carbine serves dual purposes of competition and home defense. If I do, it will be the Griffin Arms version as its as effective and just a little over half the price of the BC.

Again, thanks Patrick for steering me to that comp!

  3. Not lc, but I called Nordic and brought up the fact that my barrel and mag tube are not parallel, so when assembling clamp, the 2 are pulled together. Nordic tech recommended lc's idea of tightening nut and leaving tube extension 1/4 turn out from tight. Allows slop in threads to help reduce divergence of barrel from mag tube.

  4. JK,

As a side note, I also purchased the JP adjustable safety with extra lever for ambi setup. Solved 2 issues; easy way to fit safety to trigger and ambi safety, making it much easier to put on safe as a righty.

  5. Bought a complete JP FCG and installed using the included instructions. Thought results were pretty good until I checked out a JP FCG installed in my friend's carbine. Less creep. Went back and readjusted my setup, using a bit less engagement than JP instructions called for. That was maybe 2K rounds ago, and ever since pull has been very crisp, minimal overtravel, etc. Basically, cannot imagine it could be better, but I have yet to find a JP installed setup to compare mine to, so might be living in ignorance about how much better it could be, but am happy. Just took a bit of tweaking to minimum engagement but totally safe, with very light polishing, no stoning, as I wanted a crisp release, no rolling break.

Don't see how you could go wrong installing it yourself and fine tuning to your satisfaction. Don't let timing the disconnector bother you; its well explained in the instructions and on line video. Would recommend you use blue rather than red lock tite as recommended by JP. Had to replace a couple of set screws when I used red.

  6. No doubt lube will help, but so would a smoother external spring surface. Believe JP's spring is polished, so you can pay for it, or do it yourself. Would use something mild like Simichrome or other polish, not sandpaper. Lube when assembling.

The receiver extension is supposed to be anodized and I think teflon impregnated, so would not polish the interior.

  7. Push out 2 pins and an AR15 is now 2 shorter pieces, each no longer than a bullpup.

Same for a 22" barreled semi auto. A little more work for the SG, just need to show up 10 minutes earlier for the match.

Would still be a lot of stuff, including ammo, muffs, etc, to bring on a bike. Neat if you can do it.

  8. Well the Ranier Select 16" MEDCON is back in stock and the way! Hope its as accurate as they claim. Was going to go with a Criterion Hybrid 16" which a match grade chrome lined barrel rather than nitrided 416R, both from brownell's. I like the profile of the Select; moderately thick before gas block then thinner, yet still pretty light. Never had polygon rifling other than in a Glock. Not sure about vague mention of harder bore surface due to proprietary manufacturing process, but a barrel is a consumable item, so if lasts 8+K rounds I'll be happy. Went with the Select over Criterion due to lower price. Wilson would have been a good choice also, but more money than Select. Both are supposed to be match grade so no advantage to either, other than price difference.

  9. No user feedback on their site, so thought I would check with the Collective.

Wondering what kind of accuracy I can expect with known quality ammo that will print MOA in known match barrels.

Is this considered a "rack grade" barrel as far as accuracy potential or closer to match grade, useful for competition?

  10. Fired dynamic resistance for first time, at 100 yards. Certainly kept muzzle flat. Better in this respect than my previous comps; fsc556, battle comp and griffin arms. Did not feel much muzzle blast, but other shooters on line said it was very loud for a 223 firearm. Would hate to see what more traditional comps are like. Guess there is no free lunch! Was hoping tho!

  11. Have you tried removing the FCG, installing the safety, then installing the FCG?

No need to file anything, unless once everything is installed, you cannot place safety on safe, with hammer cocked.

    Then file the cheapest part.

  12. I would second that. Ran a BCM Gun Fighter Medium, #4 I think, but Raptor allows manipulation of CH from right side "wing" alone.

Its pricey, so you buy once and cry once.

For bolt hold open latch I've settled on Seekins. Larger piece for locking open part. Tried the BAD but took it off.

  13. No expert here, but believe the benefit to the low mass concept is realized when you have an adjustable gas block, and then reduce the gas flow to just enough for reliable function. Its the reduction of gas flow that gives the reduced recoil.

The downside is the possibility of reduced reliability when dirty, as the extra mass can overcome some crud and still lock bolt. What kind of gas block are you planning to use on the new build?

  14. The light that I run on my carbine, which should work on your sg just as well is : http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/inforce-wml-white-light-momentary-only_black/

Super easy to attach and detach, bright as hell, has a safery bar to prevent accidental activation, lighweight, yada yada. Comes in different flavors if you want more than simple mometary on/off. Believe there is a version with infrared led illuminator. Might be available cheaper elsewhere, not sure.

  15. There are about 30 223 comps on guns now and everyone is either happy to ecstatic.

One thing I'm definitely not happy about on my JP is that if I ever do a night shoot with non-premium ammo, I get a scope full of hell fire. It is very disorienting to say the least. I have my own land and clubs within driving distance are starting to have zombie themed competitions, so regular night shoots are not out of the question. It may about as possible as my F-150 taking flight, but I would like to see a compensator that worked well, but shot off the flames a little to the side or dissipated them better as to not blind me.

The Battlecomp, or PWS FSC556 is what you are looking for.

Definitely thread drift (sorry) but not so sure those are as good as a true flash hider. Wonder if for 3g, and flash suppression, something like the grffin armaments SD Flash comp would not be a good compromise http://griffinarmament.com/accessories/centerfire-muzzle/m4sd-flash-comp/
