No expert here, but believe on a shotgun the eye looking down the barrel is the rear sight, so obviously need to raise it to raise POI. A lower front bead if possible, would accomplish the same thing.

Am waiting for the Ranier Select barrel, 3 months now. Maybe I should go with BHW, but would think they have a back log as well. For me Ranier is a bit cheaper.
Anyone have any experience with the Ranier Select barrels as far as accuracy with good ammo? Have read a bunch the Match and Ultra Match but not the Select.
Thanks,

Alamoshooter, Just a thought......... My ears have been ringing & roaring since around age 12 when my brain dead cousin touched off a 12ga. a couple feet from my right ear, then there was a tour in 1969 firing a 4.2 in. mortar & countless M16 rounds without ear protection, then there have been 35 years of power tools being fired up next to me before I could get my muffs on and years of hunting without ear muffs and those fun days at the range when the proud owner of a .50 BMG super-sniper with a brake that bitch slaps you even with your muffs on ,not to mention 100's of rock concerts!!!!!!!!! But something I have found that really takes the ringing to another level is ASPIRIN ! Luckily that one isn't permanent, but if you ever take some ,and alot of us our age do for alleged heart attack prevention , you will have ringing ears and if you quit the aspirin the roar will fade back to normal after a couple of days.
That ringing is actually one of the symptoms of Aspirin toxicity. Just how much aspirin were you taking? Mini dose, or 81 mg every other day should not do this.

Have a Jarvis in both my 19 and 27. Bought them mostly because I reload, often using lead bullets, and to avoid the Glock Bulge in 40. Reliability has been 100%, as long as I check reloads in a chamber gauge and cull the odd fat one.
Chamber is a little tighter than factory, but not to the point of any issues. Accuracy is good. Don't have a ransom rest; factory barrels are very similar in accuracy to Jarvis from bench rest at 50 ft, but could be more accurate, I just have not tested them rigorously or scientifically. Like the fact that Jarvis barrels are black vs SS and cheaper than Bar Sto. I ordered mine slightly "long" and a couple of strokes with a fine file on the hood and fitting was done.
Bottom line, compared to factory, main advantage to Jarvis is ability to shoot lead with no worries, disadvantage is possible chambering issues with rare reload that would chamber in a loose factory chamber.

I have the PST 1-4 and close up I simply crank in the needed elevation so its back to poi=poa. Have the external, uncovered knobs so its easy. I assume you have the same scope as the covered knobs are on the HS model,
Unless the near and far targets are in the same stage, why not simply adjust the elevation between stages? Has a decent return to zero capability.

unless you have a machine shop and the skill to do this, your money would be better spent in buying a new rifle gas barrel and gas block, in my opinion.

XM193 is not steel cored. Steel cored ammo is usually 62 grain I believe. If in doubt, check with a magnet. That is done at our monthly match.

Guess as long as they have no trouble selling all the 9JMS they produce, as gets little attention. Eventually they may learn, especially if another company kicks their ass in sales.maybe an email to their president or VP can get some action.

I run a nordic spring 10" beyond tube with no issues. then again it ran fine with original spring, just a little harder to load. recommend polishing shell stop to prevent issues,

Don't mean to disrupt the thread, but Dale of dalesguns.com is a great guy. Did some shotgun barrel threading for me at a very reasonable price, excellent workmanship and sent a choke tube free, just to make sure end of barrel did not get crushed during shipping. Would jump on his JM930 if I did not already have one

WRT the overtravel screw; i screwed it towards back of trigger guard with hammer dropped till it made contact and a couple of turns more. then cocked hammer, held it back while unscrewing slowly, till hammer dropped. unscrewed 1/2 turn additional and called it good. All this after placing a drop of blue (med) lock tite on threads.
Hope that makes sense.

And deprive us of the opportunity to spend time and/or money on improving it? Just kidding.
Suspect they already opened up the loading port a bit, going by the bevels in place. Additional work would likely raise the price above what their marketing people told them was their goal.

How hard was it to remove the mag tube?
mark
-
Not a direct answer as I have not compared the 2 side by side, but another option is the 22" with a XXL nordic end cap, brings capacity to 9 +1, and protects muzzle as mag tube now is longer than barrel.
You are most fortunate if you can get either!

Bugged me too, Bob. Used a feeler gauge set to measure gap between housing and receiver, cut small tabs 1 thousandth thinner and jb welded to trigger housing, one at front and back, both on same side. Play is gone. I posted a picture in one of the jm930 threads. My contribution to red neck gunsmithing.

Must have ordered the last one SWEDGE, as brownell's is out of nordic followers. No biggie as my 930 is behaving after I polished the opening in the mag tube.

not recently, maybe 8 months ago a very good friend sent in a 14.5" barrel for removal and replacement of "permanently" attached muzzle device. they did an excellent job and my friend is picky.

Nick,
How can you tell that lengthening the forcing cone lowered the pressure, and is there a benefit in doing this in a JM930 that does not have issues similar to yours?
Thanks,
Mark

Brownell's does special orders for items they don't stock, as long as they stock something from a given manufacturer. They do that for dealer accounts, so expect they would for regular customers as well.

Have you tried lubricating the barrel extension first? You can also polish the extension with a strip of emory cloth, shoe shine fashion, to slightly reduce outside diameter.

I've had good luck with the VLTOR A5 system of receiver extension, buffer and spring. It is very close to a rifle length system for use with collapsible stocks. Used to experiment with different weights of buffers, spring strengths etc.
Done. Soft shooting and reliable function.

What shotgun to buy?

Agree its rough around the edges, which is not very hard to smooth out; fixed slightly loose trigger guard, and forend, raised front bead, polished shell catch hook. Had shell lifter welded, but that is needed by all, even top end sgs. Disagree its unreliable, as mine is very reliable.
