  1. I have a remington 700 in .260 remington if I sight my rifle to shoot 1.5" high at 100 yards and I switch to ammunition with a higher velocity where can I expect my bullet impact to be? High? Low? same? thanks for your input
  2. Don't know how much its worth but that is one fine looking STI
  3. I did see it and thought "Jerry is right handed" I rewound and also noticed the words on Jerry's shirt were backwards/a mirror image. I'm not sure the image could have been a mirror image (without a mirror)with todays digital technology but something was up
  4. This match dates back to when there were only 2 divisions Limited/Open. Back then if you shot the match you shot limited hence the name. Maybe Jimmy and Artie wanted a bit more participation so offered production and single stack. Production has a very strong showing around here, you can still shoot your revolver in the match(in the Limited division).
  5. The shell carrier on my SX3 makes it very difficult to load. It appears one side was cut off or broke and the smoothed up some, but it left a sharp point that will gouge the hell out of your thumb during reloads. I bought the gun second hand but it was built by a highly reputable shotgun company. Any one else have experience with their SX3 shell carrier? I though about cutting the sharp point off but dont know if it will feed reliably or just repalcing the shell carrier. Suggestions?
  6. Considering buying a lightly used SX3, shot it 5 times and now the bolt won't go all the way forward it is possibly hitting on top of the barrel. I'm sure it is a minor problem, but I don't know the fix. Help Fixed a small pin in the bolt workred its way to the left side and was jamming gun
  7. I have shot several of these matches and will be in Shreveport with a large contingent from the Houston area. I use a safariland ALS holster with my M&P9L in it, an 870 or an auto shotgun dependant upon division and a Rock River AR. I used my JP-15 once and was questioned about being able to shoot it, but was allowed because it was of a standard configuration unlike the CTR models. I have seen very few competitors with equipment that is way out of line. My experience has been that those that shoot the best win it, not those who game it better. As far as shotgun shell caddies the last couple I have been too they provided shell caddies or a go bag for shells. The matches are fun, we go mainly for the road trip. Another key is to slow down and make good hits like one poster said you hit the line it scores down to that area, procedural penalties and misses can eat you up if you have a brain fart.
  8. Help me set up my 870 for 3 gun. I shoot some matches that require a pump shotgun so please don't tell me to get an auto. My 870 currently has a 28" modified barrel and wooden stocks. What barrel length is optimal? What length extended mag tube? Are there any other accessories are work I should consider. I plan to have barrel cut and screw in chokes installed just don't know how long to have it cut.
  9. Bought a nice 870 Wingmaster at a hell of a deal. It has a 28" modified barrel. I was thinking of cutting the barrel to 18"-20" for 3 gun. Will having a cylinder bored shotgun put me at a disadvantge? What length should I cut it too?
  10. My rifle is done, bought some Federal Premium Vital shock ammo loaded with 120 grain Nosler Ballistic tips. Rifle shoots extremely soft and very accurate 1/2" groups are pretty easy. I'm thinking a little more time behind the rifle and it will shoot nice little cloverleafs at 100 yards. Took a Leupold 3.5x10x50 VariX-III off of another rifle and put it on the .260. Cant wait to try it it on a deer
  11. 3rd weekend in April has been the date for years,I expect it will be the same.
  12. I would buy the springfield strip the frame and sell everything I did not need on this forum or the 1911 forum. I think you could recoup alot of your money putting you in the same boat as if you had bought a Caspian frame to start with.
  13. I will be very interested to see how your rifle shoots. I am in the process of building my son a new deer rifle. It is on a Remington short action, with a Krieger straight taper and fluted barrel that will be about 21" long with a removable muzzle brake, sitting in a Bell and Carlson tactical medalist stock. No bottom metal yet and putting a Leupold 3x9 on it for now. Would like to get a Nightforce in the future for it.
  14. Weather forecast is good for this weekend. I think we have everything ready to go. Should be a great match, awesome prize table, food available at the range with proceeds going to the La Porte Tactical Officers Association. Nothing fancy hot dogs chips and drinks, but good hot dogs chips and drinks at a very reasonable price. 11 guns to be given away during match some through a random prize table and some through a raffle. More competitors than I ever remember having, right at 200. Looking forward to it
  15. Added another gun to the prize table a heavy barreled, laminated stock, Ruger 10/22. A real nice prize for someone
  16. Our Bandido dude does not look like the Motorcycle gang bandido. but thanks for ther concern it honestly never crossed my mind
  17. Approaching 200 shooters. We will soon fill up if you plan to shoot I need an app soon.
  18. Me and a group of Police types are looking for some team shirt artwork. What we have is a "mexican bandido" cartoon dude holding a single action revolver in each hand. We would like him to be holding a 1911 or a production pistol in each hand. Any suggestions?
  19. Dropped about 25 apps in the mail today to our stats guy. If you plan to shoot and have a squad preference best get your app in ASAP
  20. One month to go we have over 100 shooters so far, and expecting to get several apps this weekend at the local match. Pray for good weather. Should be a great match.
  21. Is there information of what the match shirt, hats etc will look like?
  22. When will the stages be posted or will they be posted?
  23. I hate to admit it but I don't really know what to pratice on. Do drills exist that I can do that I can easily quantify the results? ie.. see where I need the most improvement, what my strengths are etc. I used to shoot PPC it was very easy to see improvemnent because you had a score at the end of your session. IPSC not as easy. Any advice?
  24. I also have a Remington safe made by Liberty I am curious if you had the need for customer service/warranty and if so the nature of same. I have had no issues with mine and it is about 15 years old
