  1. You can still use your standard small aperture these fit into the close range/large side of the A2 sight. In low light I use the standard smal side and have not had a problem. Of course if I needed the large aperture these come out very quickly
  2. Change your rear aperture to any one of three, match diameters in only seconds. National Match size apertures slip inside the A-2 standard issue, 0-200 rear aperture, and are held in place with a rubber, "O" ring retainer. Apertures feature convenient notches for fast identification. SPECS: Steel, blue. Set includes .046" (1.1mm), .052" (1.3mm), .059" (1.4mm) diameter apertures, 6 O-rings.
  3. I called Brownell's they were able to give me a phone number to Bill Merchant. Very nice gentleman who runs a one man shop. he is sending me some of his quick change apertures. I highly recommend his product the small aperture helps me greatly, in the accuracy dept.
  4. Still need shooters we will waive the extra fee for the late entry, if you will send your apps in. Thanks
  5. I shot the one and only Texas State Limited held in San Angelo and I thought the range facilities and everything else was great. Plenty of hotels, restaurants etc. I am looking forward to it.
  6. A RRA is not that bad cost wise if you consider you will spend anywhere from $1200.00-$1800.00 for parts that are equal in quality to the RRA. Then you just have parts, each will need to be fit precisely and some may require machine work. If you are not set up to do that, more money. Building your own is great fun, I just don't know if doing it to save money works. I have built my own and they turned out good, are they as good as the couple that I bought the parts and then had my gunsmith build for me? No.
  7. Does anyone know of a source for these apertures I bought a set some years ago from Brownell's, but they have sinced dropped the product. I searched the web and all I find is the Brownell's listing. If you are not familiar with the item, it is a small button that slips into the large aperture of your A2/A4 rear sight and makes the aperture very small. It is held in place by a small O ring. I find it helps me to shoot much more accurately. The part number is 565-016-000 on Brownells website it offers a picture and better description. Any help would be appreciated.
  8. Landis, I neglected to order a shooter's shirt. If not too late, can I send Steve a memo with a check for $30 and get one? Bill Yes, The cut-off date for shirts will be about April 9th
  9. Check out texassouthsection.com and follow the link to Space City Challenge the match logo is displayed at the top of the page. Competitor shirts will be grey and the staff/RO shirts will be range red. I don't think you will be sorry if you buy one. I will try to get a picture of my shirt that you will be able to see for yourself.
  10. We hit 100 shooters, and have room for 70-80 more. The match shirts are Sport-Tek Dri-mesh sport shirts. The material is similar to Under armor or 5.11 tactical T-shirts. They won't fade or shrink and will be embroidered with the match logo on the left breast. The shirts are lightweight and should be very comfortable to wear in the warmer climates. The stages are being finalized and should be posted in the very near future. We are still working on the prize table and it looks like it will be very good. Our goal is to give 10 guns away we are very close to that now, we are anxiously awaiting an answer from some potential sponsors and as soon as our questions are answered we can go from there. Get those apps in and help your friendly match staff please
  11. I'm going to be in Southern California on March 15th-16th where can I shoot a match while I am there?
  12. Self sqadding has been up. We are up to 70+ competitors. We are still working onwhat we think will be a very good prize table, but we still need more apps. Don't delay for the sake of your poor old match administrators thanks
  13. Applications have started trickling in. This should be a great match.
  14. Several years ago I bought a pack of inserts that fit into the large aperature of an AR sight and were held in place by a small rubber O ring making a very small apperature out of it. I bought them from Brownell's after reading an article in Front Sight about the way Bennie Cooley sets up his rifle. I like the sight but can't recall the name of the company who made them, the name of the product and can't locate them in my new Brownell's catalog. Anybody have a clue as to what I am talking about? Thanks for your help
  15. Great match!! What a field, I was embarrased by my place 66th, I thought I shot a pretty solid match (for me) and ended up barely in the top half of limited. I shot about the same last year and was 41st a little more to my liking, getting older slower and fatter I guess. Anyway we had a great time. Kudos to Jimmy Artie and the rest of the match staff
  16. We have a group of 10 heading up from the Houston area leaving next Friday morning always enjoy the match. The match I really look froward too. Jimmy and Artie really know how to put on a match, stage designs are well done blending the proper balance between easy enough for any shooter on the range to complete yet challenging enough for the best shooters out there. I fall somewhere in between. we are squad 1 see ya'll there
  17. I voted for the S&A. Why? Because I have one on my duty gun, carried it daily for almost 25 years. I like the looks and function of the S&A. It was the only viable option in my opinion way back when. I don't like the tech wear magwell its ugly but again that is my opinion, I do think it looks gamey but you may think my gun is gamey, with its Bomar sights, magwell and FLGR. I do use the same gun(s) for duty and to shoot USPSA and IDPA events. I have really enjoyed putting the widebodies aside and shooting the skinny gun for the last 2 years. It feels right and seems to put bullets right whee I want them to go with little effort. Aside from stage 5 at Space City Challenge (3 misses and 2 no-shoots ughhh!!!) I find I shoot with far fewer penalties when shooting the SS.
  18. Several competitors won prizes at the SCC but were not there to pick them up. I have them and need to get them to you. Check texassouthsection.com to see if your name is on the list
  19. Stages are built we are ready to go with RO"s, Staff and some competitors around 0815 in the morning of course the stages are not exactly as they appeared on the website, we had to tweak thenm some, I think everyone will be pleased. We should have a good match
  20. Everything is on go. Looks like we have good if not perfect weather, Prize table is done plaques delivered, match is near capacity. Stages, squad matrix, Saturday and Sunday schedules on texassouthsection.com. Shooters meeting at 0800 hope to start shooting by 0815. Check in with shooter services to get goodie bag. We will give score sheets on each stage. We will know your shooter number please know your squad and we will be good to go. Any questions feel free to e-mail or PM me Thanks Steve Deardorff
  21. More stages at www.texassouthsection.com. Keep in mind these are preliminary designs. They are subject to some tweaking at set-up.
  22. Website should be up now. Mark I am not sure of an alternate route from the south, give me a day or so and I will come up with something for you. I will ask co-workers that live in that area for some help
