  1. Missed a target in the darkhouse stage at the Texas LE multigun match. That coupled with a 12 second malfunction clearance of my rifle cost me about 11 places in my overall match finish. Not the way I intended to start my day
  2. Whats involved in loading my .260 Remington using .243 brass or 7mm-08? Just neck up the .243? just size down the 7mm-08? Just wondering if it is worth the trouble if I came upon a cache of brass in either caliber.
  3. I think too many people think we need to run monthly matches like the nationals. Isn't the goal to attract new shooters? I think a bunch of stiff shirts is counter productive. Notice I did not say we should be lax on safety before someone jumps me on that. One example a new shooter shows up and has a Glock 22c, can't afford a new barrel yet, we let him shoot production or limited by letting him choose how many he wants to load in his mags. Not like he's beating someone to the prize table ( there is no prize table) becasue his gun should put him in open. Probably should use proper range commands especially with new shooters but good grief calling someone out on it or refusing to let them RO you? Same applies to heated arguments over doubles, A or C hit etc. but we have all seen it done. It is supposed to be a fun day a way to relax, fellowship with your friends.
  4. Our officers get a departmental range day every month and get 50 rounds to shoot what is a good 50 round drill? Looking for something I can put out to the guys without reinventing the wheel. SD A16844
  5. What caliber and what are you going to use it for? If it is a .40S&W and you will use it for USPSA matches, it sounds good
  6. Me too. many years ago an RO gave these commands on a particular stage at a match that was an annual, bigger than monthly match, I didn't care for the extra "ready" as i was anxiously awaiting the sound of the buzzer 1.Load and make ready 2. Standby 3. Ready beep...... I expect to hear the proper commands at major matches with dedicated RO's and CRO's on every stage but a local monthly match i don't really care "gas her up" "Load that b--ch" matters not to me. We don't always have enough willing RO's at our monthly matches so we do the best we can and may have a little fun while we are at it, with safe gun handling the priority.
  7. Had a similar thing happen to me, helping a Jr shooter out. Held the gun firmly in my left hand gave it a good smack with my right hand and buried the beavertail all the way up to the frame tangs right between the thumb and index finger. happened in 03 I remember it clearly didnt really hurt but left a nasty looking wound. got light headed and queasy from looking at my hand I was finished for the day but my buddy finished the match before he took me to the ER. Got one stitch and was good to go a week later.
  8. i have used Krylon Fusion paint on plastic stock with pretty good results
  9. I think it was a typo, he relisted the gun and it was at $600 yesterday with the reserve met. I think it was a case of "too bad to be true"
  10. larue basically guarantees theirs to eturn to zero. have not had a problem with mine
  11. Had stock Edge for 10+ years once a trigger job was done and a little tweeking to make it 100% reliable I felt it would take me as far as my capabilities would allow, gun ran like a top even with factory length ammo and was highly accurate, sold it this year when I had the chance to buy a ground up custom build on a SV frame and caspian slide. The gun is no better than the Edge i just like the looks of it better, standard length dustcover and traditional stirrup cuts on the slide. Was a solid A class but not so much anymore. Wonder if it has anything to do with my practice regimen or lack of?
  12. I would say work on target transitions and rythmic shooting. You will be faster overall shooting with a steady cadence by decreasing your target transitions. In an array of 3 targets you will be faster but actually shoot slower splits, something like bang;bang;bang;bang;bang;bang; instead of bang bang.......bang bang.......bang bang. Let your sights recover while you move from one target to the next just as you do on one target between shots, forget the double tap shoot 2 sighted shots per target.
  13. try Comp-tac I have one for my 9L, great quality holster decent price.
  14. extreme shooters.com also do a search on Jim Shanahan who post here. He/ his company does great looking and functional grip mods
  15. Just bought a Winchester model 70 in 7mm-08. the rifle is a SS Model 70 with a sporter weight barrel in a featherweight styled stock that I intend to use for deer/ hog hunting. My first range session started with a box of Hornady superformance 139 SST's and a box of Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 140's. The rifle would not shoot a good group with the Hornady ammo (3-4 inch group) but shot decent with the Win BST just over an inch at 100. My question is when I start to reload for this rifle am I wasting my time and money on Hornady bullets for this rifle? Should I just stick with Nosler bullets? I know both are good bullets and the Hornady's are about 2/3 the price of the Noslers but if they won't shoot they are no bargain.
  16. Yea thats probably it. As far as Rob owing Atlanta Arms a thank you note is kinda like saying everyone owes the tube makers that dislodged the gun from Rob's hands last year a thank you note. 19 SS nationals in one form or another Rob's won 17 of them placed 2nd in one and DQ'ed in the other. WOW. Then turns around and places 2nd at the revolver Nats unbelievable
  17. A friend told me of a scenario the atlanta arms had a guaranteed major power factor and if you could show you were using their ammo you would be declared major. Was he dreaming?
