  1. Here's the seceret. Im a mechanic and I just bolted the damn thing to my hip. Ha, beat that. ETA, I had an R.O. measure it. 1 3/4" from the inner belt, FTW.
  2. I will admit it look pretty crazy when viewed like this:
  3. He said he is going to take a look?? Where?? I don't see anywhere in the rule book to find the definition of race gun type holster. As far as I am concerned there is nowhere to look. So how do we know? I really think they need to drop that part("race gun" type holster).
  4. Awesome thread! I am in the same boat with a holster I built. It fits all the rules, but there is that nagging grey "Race gun type holster" here is mine of which I sent a pic to John A. on Monday. No response yet. I sent a different pic than this one. The one I sent gives the viewer a better sense of how the CR Speed hanger and CompTac holster are mated together.
  5. 215 Gear has an option that is cheaper by $5 but the same concept. I haven't bought one since I got a free tan Safariland when I ordered some stuff from them. They use a pretty thin cotton. Not UA thin but good enough for Iowa. I used to have an awesome Carhartt one that had nylon mesh instead of the harder poly mesh you see in truckers caps. The new Carhartt trucker caps aren't to bad for the price. Dig the Carhartt, thanks for that!
  6. Rainier 147gr TRN, 3.2gr TG, 1.140", 890fps out of 2 different G34s
  7. I just picked up an Arc'teryx Baller Ass Cap. Only used it for one match so far, but when the temp went up the mesh back half was very nice to have.
  8. Prototype #1. Gun is above the belt an well within 2" of the inside of the inner belt. feels rock solid, comfortable, natural and fast. I'm and going to beat on it for a week, have some of the local R.O.s look at it and possibly run it at the local match this weekend. If everything works out I am going to get better looking hardware, add some Duracoat to the bracket and share some more in-depth pics. Its not going to get me out of C class, but it was fun to build and that is why I am in this sport.
  9. I really want to try one of these. I hope the updated ones are in the states soon.
  10. Lets say hypothetically A guy wanted to mount a CompTac holster body on a CR Speed Versa Hanger(or similar race hanger) and kept the grip above the belt and within 2" of the belt would this be legal for Production? Some of the best and worst ideas come from looking in the spare parts box
  11. LOL, Shot a CM99-21 Mini Mart last weekend. Ended up with 7.33 something HF. Rough calculations would put me at 59.98% once the update was run, but the PALM on that stage crapped out losing everyones scores. Next month is all classifiers, Wahoo!
  12. Renewed my membership yesterday, moved from A71716 to TY71716
  13. Got my SIRT Pro today. Love it so far, so much so that my hands hurt. Can't wait to throw my extra set of Sevigny Comps on it. The weight adjustable mags are wicked cool. I got my mags within .1oz of what I run at matches.
  14. Thanks, means a lot to hear that. Warmer weather should bring some more smoothness.
  15. I have been shooting with GMPS for almost a year now, great bunch for sure. The Feb. match went very well with respect to this topic, getting better for sure. Managed my second Production stage win. Thanks everyone!
  16. Never been that close to an open gun without earpro, but I did touch off a 14.5" AR with a Surfire brake without pro, once... does that count?
  17. There are "other" forums? Really? The modifications that you listed should be well within the weight limits. My G-34 is at 27.2 ounces with an unloaded magazine. It has a KKM barrel, Sevigny sights, a plastic plug, and tungsten full-length guide rod. glock22.scout, Next match remind me to let you shoot mine after the match is done. I forget stuff easy on match day when I am in the zone. I meant to let you shoot it last weekend. I run Sevigny sights, plastic grip plug, steel guide rod, and 14lb spring, and a Challenger trigger kit. I will also let you shoot some 147gr stuff. Braxton1, yep there are. The club we shoot with has one, imagine that. When you say full-length do you mean one of the ones that comes flush with the 34 slide or 17 slide? I've been kicking around the idea of trying one. Where did you get yours? Thanks
  18. Background info. I started in the sport April of 2011 with a Glock 34 in Production. I have never competed before and I have only been serious about pistol shooting since early 2010. Right now I am in the upper section of C class at ~57 percent. Here are some videos that go back to my first match in April 2011 and end at my latest match. I try to get some video from all of my matches, but there are some missing. Let me know the good, bad and ugly. Take note of the dates to see what has improved or gotten worse. Thank You ETA: I get on average IIRC 85% of the points on a stage, last match was my best at 88% http://www.youtube.com/user/ghostb14/videos
  19. I shoot a G34 with all iron Sevigny Comp sights, today I got to play with a G34 with the FO Sevigny Comp sights. No thanks, too much going on out there for me.
  20. Did you order it from Next Level Training? I am just wondering what the current wait times are, I am the impatient type.
  21. Hopefuly mine ships soon. I am really excited.
  22. I don't disagree with anything you said there. Last year was my first year in the sport and I took a class held by and Open GM and Production M halfway through the year. They hit on all the points you described. I picked up a lot of mechanics in class and ideas to build off as I gained more experience. I have Burkett's vol 1-3 and watch it every so often, even spoke on the phone with him(great guy). By "let loose" I mean let loose control and let everything flow without trying for a good run. I think you and I are speaking the same language on that, just different accents(mine being noob). Funny you mention land.. one of my other topics today was about this nice little piece of land my family has that I am putting in a one bay private practice range on. My family has shot there since before I born and I want to get a little more serious about it.
