  1. This is all going into a G22. It will see nothing but lead. I also want the aftermarket barrel for the fully supported chamber because I will be running major PF. As for budget: Used G22 W/ 2 mags(cop trade in) - $350 Used Stainless Guide rod (Gun Show Find) - $5 G35 takeoff sites from fellow shooter - Free THE Mag button (New) - $25 New LW 3.5 trigger and .25 trigger job - $16 New Springs through out (Wolf trigger kit and ISMI Recoil) - $20 One extra new mag - $16 Total to date - $432 Still needed: Mag base pads X3 (Would like Aredondo SP?) Mag well (would like Dawson Ice Heavy) Barrel (wish I could find a used one) Holster (would like Bladtech DOH) Belt (would like CR Speed) Mag pouches X3 (would like CR Speed) Ammo Ammo Ammo This is not my blaster of choice at the moment so I have the time to look for and wait for good deals. I was trying to see how cheap I could get into limited. I thought it would be a good example for up in coming shooters that want to make a jump to limited. Later

    Budget barrel

I am setting up newest glock for a little limited play, and was trying to see how budget minded I could be with this. So a new barrel so I can shoot some lead is in order. I am not a fan of the LW barrel have had bad experiances and so have friends but this is not a bash thread so please DO NOT turn it into one. My two choices that I am looking at is KKM or Storm Lake. I have a KKM in my other gun and love it. It is a true drop in and shoots great, but is it worth the extra money over the Storm Lake? I have heard they are just as good but have never tried one. What say ye BE Board?
  3. I have never had any problems with the factory followers myself. I just saw them in the Brownells and was wandering if I should give them a go. It sounds like they do not gain me anything so I will pass on them for now. I guess I am always on the look out for the better mousetrap. Thanks guys.
  4. Just a little history. My local club does a practice night at our indoor range once a week and an outdoor match once a month. At this indoor range they only allow 22lr rifles. We came up with the idea of havening a 22 rifle night. Basically we setup a normal field coarse like we do every week and run it using 22lr rifles. The majority is ar15's with 22 conversions or dedicated uppers and 10/22 rifles. The cheap red dot seems to be the sight of choice, but some shoot irons. We use a standard target and score it as minor. My question is if you were to build a 22lr for this type thing what would you build? There are no shots over 25 yards, but I am thinking of mixing in some of the 1/3 size paper targets I have just to step up the difficulty a little and make it more realistic. Currently I am using a dedicated 16" 22 upper on my 3 gun lower with a Tasco aimpoint clone or my 10/22 with 16" tacsol barrel and hogue stock and same red dot. The AR has a 4 rail handgaurd w/ flashlight and pogo stick on it w/ A2 break. I want to try a different break but I don't think it will really make a difference. I also run 30 rd mags and the course never seem to go over 30 rounds. I have had a few people say they like doing this allot and have seen other clubs on-line doing this as a side match and calling it an ammo saver type thing. If you do a youtube search for 10/22 IPSC there was a video of this stuff out there. I am considering switching out the 4 rail for a rifle length free float and a different break. Again not sure if a different break will make a difference. Has anyone found a 22lr break that makes a difference? Sorry for the long post but this could also apply to building a 22lr practice/training gun. Thanks for any input.
  5. Ok, I have searched several places, and just can't seem to find what I am looking for. My buddy has a set of steel plates that bolt on to a 1911 under a set of thin grips using the standard bushings. they actually key into the opening in the frame under the grips. They don't have a marking on them and they were on the gun when he bought it. I am starting to think they are a custom deal. I think they make the gun feel better and would like to get a set to try for myself, but I can't find them. Does someone know who makes them or where I can get a set. Thanks
  6. Has any one used these? I saw them in Brownell's and was curious if they are good for anything. They don't say the add capacity but they are saying they are allowing smoother function. Just curious if they are worth the money to give a try. Thanks
  7. I have a USPSA sticker on my car. But I do get to carry a gun around so I don't mind if I'm a "target". Believe it or not, I think it has helped a few times when crossing the border back in the the US from Canada. He was thinking more of a target for someone to break into my car in a parking lot hoping to find a gun. The problem is I work for the government and park on fed property so I 90% of the time never have a gun in the car because it is a work day.
  8. Does the comp really make a difference? It just doesn't seem like it would on a 22LR.
  9. I had a nice friendly disagreement with a guy at the gun club the other day. I have a Springfield armory and an USPSA sticker on my car. he told me I should take them off because it makes me a target. Who around here has gun stickers on there cars. If so why and if not why?

    dog farts

My two bull dogs have the rank A$$ to often. The thing they do that gets me is when they express their anal glands. then lick the spot on the floor where they did it. It is just stomach turning.
  11. Our club has an indoor winter bullseye league. I have thought about doing the rimfire side but don't know if my ruger 22/45 is the ideal gun for it. If i just put a red dot on it should I be Ok to get a feel for the one handed shooting to see if it appeals to me?
  12. I loaded some 155g lswc the other day at 5.1g. lets just say they were crisp. I have seen some guys load some bullseye loads down around 2.8 to 3 grains before. they almost didn't make it out the barrel.
  13. I see allot of G22 police turn ins around here. they are only $350 to $400 depending on condition. Usually they have allot of handling marks but inside they look like new. Cheaper than $500. Just a thought.
  14. Some of these loads seem light. I load 4.8g of Bullseye under my 200g LSWC. I guess you don't have to make major for NRA action pistol.
  15. I like this setup also. Plus I like black sights, NO FO front blades for me.
  16. CED Back Pack. I have just the stuff I need for the stages. I also keep a small toolbox back at the car with all the spare parts and what not in it.
  17. +1 on the CED Backpack. I like it becouse I can carry it on the motorcycle much easier that a normal range bag. http://www.cedhk.com/show.php/Object118
  18. I would like to get a CZ75 SA in 40 to shoot some L10 and Maybe some Limited because I love my 9mm CZ for shooting production. What is the difference in frames and mags between a CZ75 and a TS. Is it passable to put the higher cap TS mags in a plain CZ75 SA? I just can't see spending double the money on a TS for more capacity. The SP-01 would be an option if the 40 was available. The only thing I do like about the TS is you can pop a Bo-mar style sight on the back. The CZ75 would have to be machined for that.
  19. I have to give a big +1 to the Dillon press. The only thing is I am not sure the 550 is the best to start with since it has to be manually indexed. This requires some diligence and lots of concentration to not double charge. There was someone on here that took all of his loaded rounds from his 550 and weighed them and he said it was a great way to catch the double and no charged rounds. I guess this all more or less food for thought but you can't beat a Dillon product.
  20. I have used the water trick and works well. I also find that I move better if I keep my weight back on my heels. The biggest issue I have is I drop the gun from my line of sight in-between targets when moving and that costs me time.
  21. Is it OK to do this with media that has allready had some form of polish in it?
  22. tpe187, You may check out millcreek rifel club in Desoto, KS. They have a Wensday night bowling pin shoot that has a couple of good 1911 pistol smiths. I personaly like Randy B. He has worked on several of my guns. Here is a link to thier web site. LINK It is a real good group of guys out there.
  23. Good Idea, but I have mine setup to keep me logged in so I waist no time getting to the good stuff on here. Side Note: less than 1 hour a day here and I feel deprived.
  24. Chris, Met your brother last night at Pioneer. He said you wanted to get together and talk about some matches.
  25. I finally got my stimulus, so its time to build a new limited blaster. I want a limited STI 40 S&W. I have fit slides and stuff before that is not a problem. My question is.... Is it better to buy a pre fit STI frame and slide kit or buy separate and fit them? It just seems like it would save me some time. Unless the fit they come with is crap. Also they have the short block kit that is the frame, slide, and barrel that is already fit. Are the barrels they come with any good and are they fit nice and tight? Are they a bushing barrel or a bull? This may be another option to save time on the build. Thanks in advance.
