  1. Great thread. I love the DIY work. This is all great stuff for ss/pro, but what about open and limited gear? Mag pouches at an angle/cant, or an open-topped kydex race holster?
  2. +1 To Duane's post. As he mentioned, new(er) shooters aren't accustomed to using shooting-specific muscles, nor are they accustomed to an explosion occurring in front of their face. I think that as a new shooter, live-fire should be to simply verify the skills that he/she has been dry practicing in his/her home. (After reading BEnos' book) get XRe's practice deck, or Steve Anderson's Dryfire Drill book, and dryfire at home. Your ratio of dryfire to livefire as a new shooter could be something like 70% dryfire to 30% livefire. Once you are comfortable with most of the fundamental such as: sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, grip, stance, etc., then you'll have no problem pulling off consistent accuracy at a relaxed rate.
  3. (Dad and) I use SG-Light on our 550, runs like a champ. Thanks Brian!
  4. I have a COM holster that I run for SS and IDPA-CDP. I also run 4 single mag-pouches with one bladetech double in the back.
  5. Dang, thanks for bringing that to light. screw cop-killers.
  6. Haha, guess not. Anyway, I'm glad you're shooting pop!
  7. lol, you must not have seen ME shoot limited. I'm running like... 5 mags with +20rds haha! Same point, NEVER be out ammoed! Exactly! haha I'll admit... I've flipped out at the end of a stage and reloaded from the ground... more than a few times haha.
  8. lol, you must not have seen ME shoot limited. I'm running like... 5 mags with +20rds haha!
  9. good job on HOA! The wind didn't seem to affect you at all. It sure seemed to affect the rest of us though. Thanks! =) Good job on actually shooting the match and not saying, "Nah, i think i'll just help tape and score... like a big nerd!"
  10. I always like being prepared for whan the S#it hits the fan... unfortunately, that seems to happen to me most of the time, so I like carrying more than enough haha. I usually run 6 mags on the belt, and 1 in the gun, for a total of 7 mags. In my experience, I'm either a) dropping a bunch of ammo on the ground with half-loaded mags, or i'm running empty and doing standing reloads. I'd much rather drop a bunch of half-loaded mags than do a bunch of standing reloads. My opinion on SS mags: always carry more!
  11. Date: 21 February 2010. -Type of event: Level I (Local Match). -Location: Sage Pistol League, Ridgecrest, CA. -Time: 0800-1400. -Range Conditions: Cool, dry, Extremely windy (~60mp). -Training partners: Match Participants. -Gun used: Borrowed Open Gun (5" 9x19Major). -Ammo shot: Borrowed 9x19 Major. -General feeling in session: I felt relaxed and happy to shoot again after not shooting for a month. -Focus of the Sesson: I was simply there to shoot at the unconscious level by disallowing my active mind to obstruct my subconscious mental conditioning. -Content of the session: The match consisted of 6 stages plus one classifier (peek-a-boo No-shoots). Shooting relaxed has helped me progress and learn. I allowed myself to execute the tasks that my body has been conditioned for. I won HOA against some great shooters, including two strong Master Open shooters. -New things learned: I learned how to shoot a relaxed match. -Experimentation: I didn't experiment with much of anything. -What I want to work on more: I'd like to continue shooting in this calm mental state of being. -What I did best today: I shot a great relaxed match and had less than 1.5% defect rate (1 miss and 1 no-shoot). -Goal statement: I am the #1 Junior at 2011 World Shoot. -Summary: It was a great match, despite the wind. These are the RESULTS FROM FEB SPL USPSA MATCH
  12. Oh my Lord... Aren't there rules against posting offensive images? Where are the mods?! JKLOL
  13. Eliminate you're expecations of what a "correct" grip is. For me, and many shooters (as Jake mentioned) your left arm will be straighter and consequently higher than your right arm. Also, refer to what Brian said about support-hand thumb position. It never feels quite right at first, and it will take a lot of practice to become "natural."
  14. Thanks everyone! I apprecaite it. *filled with beverage of your choice, Matt, since I'm lactose intolerant*
  15. Glad to have you here! Like you'd never believe lol. Have fun getting addicted!
  16. Nice work Jason! You're the man. Keep it up bro, and soon you'll have Adam Tyc looking over his shoulder.
  17. My new favorite song: Pants on the Ground.
  18. Began at age 14 in Nov 2006 in L10/SS, then switched to Limited after a couple matches. It has taken me 3 years and 3 months to become a GM in Limited.
  19. I've been going to hardcore/straightedge shows with my friends lately (i doubt you can call them concerts, since people are fighting, moshing and climbing on eachother lol) and I am convinced that attending hardcore/straightedge shows are my second favorite thing, after shooting of course. Last night's show in Palmdale was fantastic. My friends called Sovereign Strength played, as well as a bunch of other great bands, including: , Suffokate, For the Fallen Dreams, and The Ghost Inside. In case you're wondering about the straightedge thing, there's a cool documentary on it, you can find it here: Inside Straight Edge, Part 1 of 5 Inside Straight Edge, Part 2 of 5 Inside Straight Edge, Part 3 of 5 Inside Straight Edge, Part 4 of 5 Inside Straight Edge, Part 5 of 5 *Note: I am not a gangster
