  1. Can you post a pic of the gator grip?
  2. ore you buy, make sure the Arredondo followers you buy will work with the generation of magaznes you are using. I have 5 of the newest generation magazines, and I am not happy with how my Arredondo's fit in there. I went back to the original followers for now. I had no malfunctions mind you, they just didn't look right to me.
  3. I think you did darn good for only $1350. I would have probably jumped on that deal also!
  4. The choice will ultimately depend on what you are going to use for a magwell (if any). I used the Dawson Heavy Ice magwell, with Arredondo base pads, and I have absolutely no issues with them on my Glock 35. At present I can only fit 19 rounds in my +5 extensions, but these are the new style magazines, and I hope that in the long run, I will be able to fit the 20th round in there, but 19 will do me just fine for now! And if I needc to, I can always get the +1 Novak follower! YMMV! I have heard nothing but great comments on the Taylor Freelance and Dawsons also, but I don't have first hand experience with them.
  5. Nice, I hadn't noticed that LW was building slides now. Thanks for pointing that out. I hope they plan to do a Glock 24 slide down the road, and I think I might pick up one of the Glock 35 slides once the do them up!
  6. Brownells just added the CCF race fremes to their inventory. CCF Race Frame at Brownells
  7. I am using the JP Enterprises magazine release. I like how far back it reaches, but it is very tall, and could easily get in the way of my grip. Time will tell if I start dropping mags. If I do, I will switch to the TD/LV release.
  8. Ha ha ha! I can't afford one of those, but my niece (who is 10 years younger than I am) has one! She absolutely loves it. Get this, she works at a Doctors office as the office manager, and when she brought it in the first day, the Doc went out and looked at it, then told her she couldn't afford a car like that on her paycheck, then he turned around later that day and gave her a $1,000.00 a month raise! I need a boss like that!
  9. I do know how to do Glock and 1911 trigger work also. Although I am not 100% sure of it yet. I have spent many nights evelauting different trigger systems I have purchased for experimental use. And I love to read a certain someone's hints on this board! If he would only just say it all in one thread, Glock shooters world wide would prpbably bow to the man! I don't have trigger weights handy, but I think mine is easily sub-2 pounds right now, with minimal take up and zero creep or overtravel. (pardon the non-Glock related terms if I used any). I think it is great, but have yet to allow anyone else the opportunity to shoot it as is. My current trigger system is all new with this build, so I still have to test that out too. My first outing will be about 400 rounds to get the bugs worked out of it.
  10. I used a Sears brand craft woodburner/soldering iron, it was only $20.00. It came with four different heads for it, all different sizes and shapes. The one I choose was a thin soldering tip, and I think it produced the best lines. I would gladly do it as a side job as gun tinkering is my thing. One thing I did learn was that in order to get a more agressive sandpaper like finish I started out with a thicker soldering tip, only on the front strap and rear grip area. This thicker tip created larger grooves. I waited a few hours and went back over it with a thinner tip. This thinner tip created ripples in between the larger grooves, and created a really grippy finish! The thumb rest was an afterthough, because I did not like the bump that was remaining from the original thumb rest. I removed the original and used the remaining material to create the thump rest you see now. My camera does not do Macro's very well, so the pictures I took of it do not show very well. Lastly, I have very small hands, and even smaller thumbs (sort of retarded looking) so the thumb rest is a necessity for me. If I could create one for my forward (non-firing) thumb I would do so, but my current holster will not allow it. I used to be a firearms instructor/gun plumber for the Air Force, so I do have experience with many different firearms. I try to purchase one new firearm each year, and build the snot out of it, to learn the in's and out's, what works and what doesn't. It's a hobby my wife HATES! This is the second full firearm I have built this year, my other was a custom M4 styled AR. As for the load I will be shooting, heck, I don't know what I will feed it, I still have to find someone with a reloader, willing to teach me how to get started, but for now I will be feeding it Winchester white box from Wal-Mart. They have the best prices in town, that isn't saying much! I don't get out to shoot very often, and am looking to buy a house with enough property to build my own back yard range. Unfortunately where I live, the closest USPSA/IDPA range is quite a drive and neither of my vehicles get good gas mileage, so re-joining the shooting sports is going to be some time in the future. For now, I will focus on dominating the local firing range competitions!
  11. When you get this pistol back, let us know how it performs for you. I have been considering an XD for my sons first pistol for quite some time!
  12. For pics see My Thread in the Gallery Section Overall I am happy with it, and having done all the work myself, to my standrads, I think it turned out great!
  13. I finally finished all the work I had planned on my G35. I am hoping to get a chance to shoot it this weekend. The Glock 35: I texturized the grip, undercut the trigger guard, added a thumb shelf, replaced the Glock barrel with one from Storm Lake, added the JP Ent. Mag release, added a Novak's SS extended guide rod, New ISMI springs, Warren tactical sights with F/O front and 5 new Glock G22 magazines, each with a Arredondo 5 round extension. I am extremely happy with the texturizing job I did. It feels like sandpaper, looks like a beavers coat and seems to be just what I wanted! My belt: Safailand nylon belt with velcro inner, CR Speed magazine pouches (5 of them), Blade Tech straight drop holster (soon to be replaced with CR Speed, once it arrives) Notice that one of the CR SPeed magazine pouches is lying horizontal, this magazine pouch will hold a ten round magazine to be used for "Barney Loading" only. Edited to correct that my base pads were Arredondo's not Dawsons. Thanks for not killing me over it, becuase I know someone else had to notice it!
  14. My guess is there will be remaining damage from the Super Glue under the grip. But do not be discouraged. Have him remove the grip, then see how bad it is, then offer him significantly less than you would normally. Go out and get yourself a $20 Craftsman soldering iron (mine is awesome) and texture the grip to meet your needs, it doesn't have to be anything radical! I did mine on my 35 in about 2 hours, and I absolutely love how it turned out!
  15. Warren Sights website I have a set of the Tactical with fiber optic front sight. Absolutely love the sights. You could probably get a different variation for several of your pistols, just so you can get a feel for the different versions. I would agree that a duty/personal Defense ("Homeland Defense") pistol NEEDS night sights!
  16. Sorry fellas, I haven't heard of the rule change you speak of. Is this just for production? Or Limited also?
  17. I suspected they would want to see the barrel ASAP! I have heard KKM is a great company to deal with, keep us updated.
  18. Very fast on the trigger on most of those shots, I only wish I was half as quick! Keep posting these videos please!
  19. Those videos you shoot keep getting better and better, keep posting them, I may just have to subscribe to your video section!
  20. Very nice looking Glocks you have there!
  21. I think Gas can be purchased online, not sure about shipping (is it hazardous?). I know when I was in Germany I could get it at a local hobby shop, not sure where you are going overseas, but the internet may be your best bet!
  22. +1 on the Cat Crap, I used it in Iraq, and have used it in North Carolina, I have yet to find anything that works better! I got mine at REI (online), and you may be able to find it elsewhere!
  23. I have never personally seen this happen with a Glock barrel, much less a KKM, they have a reputation of being one of the better Glock replacement barrels. I would be very interested to know what KKM says about the peening. Have you contacted them to see if they will make it right?
