  1. The really sad thing is I had several long conversations with one of the CCF owners. I gave him some of my thoughts and ideas about Glocks. He asked me if his engineer/partner could call me and pick my brain a little about Glocks. My response was I would be happy to help. I did not expect anything in return. When I ordered my frame from him they gave me a small discount that was appreciated. It is not about the money. At this point it is all about CCF doing the right thing. They have chosen not to. Let the buyer beware.
  2. I actually am a gunsmith. I have been building guns (1911) for over 30 years. Been working on and modifying Glocks since they came out. I have never done it as a full time job as I realized early on that I am too much of a perfectionist to make a living at it. There is not an easy cure for this defect. I am going to look at trying to even up the rails when I get the frame back. Bottom line is a consumer should not have to spend time and money fixing something that should have been done right the first time. I will post some pictures of the canted slide when I get the frame back. It stands out like a sore thumb. I am going to call a friend of mine at Glock tomorrow to find out what their specs are. I suspect it is as Eric posted. As I stated before, if you want one get it from Brownells. Let them fight with CCF. I suspect that fight will be a short one.
  3. Just thought you guys need to know there are some quality issues with the CCF frame. The frame I received from them is deffective. When I installed a Glock G35 slide and barrel on mine I noticed that the slide was canted to the left pretty badly. To some this might not be an issue, but to me it is. I tried several other Glock slides just to make certain my slide was not the problem. Four other slides had this same cant. I returned the frame to CCF fully expecting them to replace it. That was not the case. I was told that the frame is within specs. Excuse me, I don't know of anyone that wants a gun with a canted slide. My advise to any prospective purchasers of this frame is to buy it through Brownells, not directly from CCF. As most of you know Brownells has a no questions asked return policy - a lesson CCF needs to learn.

    9mm 1911

Boo, I have 9 round .45 mags that fit into the box. I am able to start with 10 in the gun.

    9mm 1911

I have never had any feed issues with my 9mm Kimber. I use 10 round 38 Super mags. Gun does not seem to care if I load long or short. OTOH I wonder why 1911 lovers do not just down load their .45 to a 130-135 pf and shoot ESP with it. One is not at much of a disadvantage using 8 round mags. If you think about it how many IDPA stages require more than 17 rounds. A 200 gr SWC at 650 fps is softer than a 9mm. And no you are not waiting on the slide. The slide will cycle faster than you can pull the trigger. Those big 200 gr slugs make a really large hole. You will pick up several seconds every match with hits that cut the -0 circle that a 9mm would miss.

    Glock spring set

Yes and before you ask I do not give out the information as to how and where. I have given out enough hints on various forums as to how I do this. There are those that charge a lot of money to do this. IMO they charge too much for what they do. Search this forum and others to find your answers. Buy some trigger bars and crank up that drill press.

Just once more - there is no built in stop. I do not add a tab, screw or pin. The way you reposition the plastic trigger bar finger pad, connector and shape the "nose" of the trigger bar determines where the trigger bar will stop after it releases the striker. To reference a line from one of my favorite movies "I think what we have here is a failure to communicate". Must be my Southern accent.

What is hard to understand about "No stop on the trigger bar"? There are no added stops. Let me try this one more time - if you know how to do a proper Glock trigger job you don't have to add a stop. Let's assume the striker releases in the last half of the rearward movement of the trigger bar. The trigger can be set up to stop at the beginning, middle or end of this travel. Got it?
  9. The last two slides I got from STI/Brownells had to be returned due to poor quality. What was really odd is even though both were .40 slides they looked like they came from different companies. They for darn sure did not have the same machine cuts. I won't be using a STI slide again.
  10. A .45 is not that expensive to shoot if you load lead bullets. Me thinks you just want a new gun. No problem with that. Why do you need a thumb safety? If you want a 1911 9mm just get a Kimber. I can't think of a better 1911. Another plus with the Kimber is you can fit a .40 barrel to it. Can I assume you don't reload? The two 9mm guns that own IDPA are the Glock 17/34 and 9mm 1911.

Racer, I am glad that you know how I set up my trigger bars. Where can I learn to read minds? I have only done a couple of trigger jobs. Guess I got lucky. Glocks are new to me.

No stop on the trigger bar. The LWD IMO has a better feel than the Ghost.

    Glock spring set

If you set the trigger bar up correctly you don't need an over travel stop. There is no need for an extra power return spring either. My latest trigger bar design has given me a sub one pound trigger. I use the stock return spring. I use Glock, Scherer and LWD connectors. Will not use a Ghost. The point I was making is the CCF frame moves the Glock to a more equal footing with the STI guns. The Glock/CCF shoots flatter than a STI.

Replace the Ghost with a Lone Wolf connector. The reduced power striker spring will lower the pull weight as well. On a side note, the CCF stainless steel frame will turn a Glock into a gun that is just as good as the over priced STI Edge at a fraction of the price.

I had rather not say at this time. The ball is in their court. I feel like they will do the right thing.

I had to send my frame back today. I am sure they will do the right thing and replace it.

I stuck 2 LWD and 1 Federal barrel in mine to see if they would function. No problems with any of them.

I got a chance to shoot mine today. I shot it with a G34 and G35 top end. There is no sight movement with the G34. The front sight just stays on target. Shooting the G35 top end with some 180 gr 170 pf loads revealed some interesting things. I tried 3 different spring weights - 13, 15 and 17. All were shortened 2-3 coils. The 15 felt the best followed by the 17. This gun is very flat shooting. There was very little front sight movement with the 170 pf loads. IMO it is just as easy to shoot as my old .40 STI. There is actually less muzzle flip with the CCF than the STI. Add a mag well and you have a gun that is just as competitive as the STI. BTW don't let anyone tell you that you can't get a good trigger with a Glock. I figure a crisp 16 oz. Glock trigger is good enough. This new dog may hunt. Time will tell.

You can do anything with enough investment. I don't like the extreme nose heavy feel of an Edge.

I have not had a chance to fire mine yet, but one thing I did notice dry firing. The checkering is too sharp for my tastes. Does not hurt my hand but it locks it in place. If I don't get the perfect draw it is difficult to shift the gun. I knocked the tips off the checkering and rounded the outside row on both sides. Gun is much more comfortable now. If my grip is slightly off it is not a big deal to shift the gun a bit. Glocks tend to recoil straight back rather than flip like a 1911 does. IMO this is good.

Finally got around to putting mine together. It weighs 43.8 oz. with a G34 top end and mag. I will take some weight out of the grip insert rib to get legal. There is no way, short of drilling holes everywhere, that you can get it ESP legal with a G35 top end.

I hope to have mine assembled next week. It is a little wider than a Glock frame - would not fit in my kydex holster. I will most likely "bevel" the leading rows of checkering on each side a little. Looks to be plenty of material there. I think the gun will make ESP weight with a G34 upper. Will weigh when assembled. There is no way it will make weight with a G35 upper without removing metal. Guess I will lighten the insert rib some.
  23. I run a 12# Wolf in my G34/35.

    New shooter

Jim brings up a good point. I have never seen a Trophy Match in 9mm. If it does not say Trophy Match on the slide then it is a regular Loaded Springfield. Most folks, me included, have not had good luck with the SA 9mm. At the very least it will need a better barrel fitted to improve accuracy and feeding.
