  1. Sounds like that guy is the reason for that policy.
  2. Nothing? Don't tell me I need to join a metal working or welding forum just for this question. Is fast plasma as good as water jet or laser?
  3. Is it any more difficult shooting clays or shot on target with full sights? Does it slow you down looking for alignment or do you just use the front sight the same as always? I may end up doing the same to mine.
  4. I talked to the guy from jcsteeltargets.com. He says he uses a computerized plasma cutter. When asked how this compared to the laser and water jet, he said it should be equal with regard to the HAZ, as he says it may take a total of 2 seconds to cut out a 8" plate. His claim is that the total duration of plasma on the steel and in any one spot is so short that it doesn't degrade the hardness. He also claims his edges are better than obtainable by water jet. Can anyone else comment on the difference between a very fast plasma cutter vs laser or waterjet with regard to durability of the steel?
  5. Thanks! I've got an email inbound to check how they cut their steel. Any other suggestions?
  6. Anyone? Any other cheap but good quality alternatives? I'm trying to avoid the folks using plasma cutter with a large HAZ. Since I live so close to Widener's, I'm going to investigate their steel plates further.
  7. I cannot express the envy I have for folk close to brownell's or midway. It's only balanced out by my desire not to live in the midwest or so far north.
  8. I just discovered that I'm only an hour away from Widener's for whenever I need shooting supplies, so I can save of shipping and hazmat!!!
  9. I'm looking at getting four to six 8" round plates in AR500 to hang on shepherd hooks for 3 gun practice. I'll set them up in close arrays like a plate rack for handgun and shotgun and 100-300 yards for .223. From my browsing of the interwebs, www.shootsteel.com, seems to have pretty good prices, $30 a plate with a hole already drilled to use as static targets on a post or hanging. They use laser to cut and claim to get similar results to water jet. Has anyone bought from this guy? I called and he's based out of Minnesota, ships by flat rate boxes. Is there anything I'm not considering in this purchase equation? Can anyone recommend somewhere else with comparable prices? I looked at MGM and they don't list solo plates like I want, and they're prices are significantly higher. Keep in mind this is for my own solo practice, not a match or public/anonymous abuse. I need a cheap light and portable setup that can withstand up to .223. Link: 8" round static plate Thanks, Chris
  10. That's exactly my point. This isn't a problem.
  11. I'm amazed this conversation is still going. Talk about a tempest in a teapot.
  12. Welcome, from the other side of the state! You'll definitely find the forums to be informative, and everyone here is almost universally nice. We generally shame all trolls into non-existence, so its a much more pleasant venue than most shooting forums. If you have questions, read the FAQ first and use the search next and you'll generally have more info than you know what to do with.
  13. Thanks, I guess I was looking for the right phrase of "riding the reset".
  14. This is a little difficult to word, which may be why I didn't find anything on search, and maybe it's not an issue on the full replacement triggers. I'm just curious whether you try to take advantage of the unique way a Glock trigger resets for an easier follow-up shot. I've found it increases my chance of the 2nd shot coming off sooner than expected if I don't practice it for a while, not sure if that counts as an AD.
  15. Bar-sto lists their barrels as semi drop-in. Anyone know what's involved with fitting a bar-sto barrel? Is there any good reason to pick that over a true drop-in KKM barrel?
  16. How would a 2011 with a C-More fit? You could have a large and a small diameter pipe to accommodate the larger guns with optics and the smaller sub compacts.
  17. What about a pvc pipe with a notch cut in it for the trigger guard? It would hold the barrel vertical and wouldn't come close to the safety.
  18. Vilas, really? Well, if you're ever in the area and I can peel away from the family, I'd love to shoot sometime. If you have a spare to lend and are serious, I certainly won't turn it down, but there isn't a rush as I haven't gotten the G35 yet.
  19. No, I'm not there yet. This buy is going to take some time.

    Trap Gun

In favor of the 930, its 24" barrel, comes with 3 chokes, and was under $600.
  21. Anyone know who else is carrying this holster? They list $230 retail and $189 for dealers. $189 I might be able to swallow, but definitely not $230. I'll give the DAA Racer a try before I consider putting down that much.

    Trap Gun

Its not purpose built for trap, but my mossberg 930 JM Pro series does great at trap. Its definitely overkill with 10 shot capacity, but I will use it for clays any chance I get and not expect to suffer any penalty that isn't already incurred by my lack of experience with that particular sport.
  23. Ok, I'm used to a "U" die with my .45. Any idea if a U die is good enough to eliminate bulge from glocked brass?
  24. Hmm... things to think over. Another good thing about the glock is I can get it and shoot it stock while saving up and buying add on parts a piece at a time. The parts are all drop-in so i con't need a gunsmith. Well, I'll save away and see when I can get the new toy. The good thing is I can always liquidate it later to upgrade, not that I ever like getting rid of a gun.
  25. This is what I'm running - http://www.bb-enterp...item161765.ctlg Hope the info helps That makes more sense, I forgot you were in open. So the +8 gets you 22, and I can guess that the +5 will get me 19 or 20. That's more in line with what I was expecting.
