  1. Patriot reamed/throated mine...$60 and back in a week.....resolved all issues with no accuracy loss...finally runs as it should.
  2. UPDATE.....thought I already posted but anyways.....issue resolved!! It was the barrel......I decided to take a gamble on my hunch and sent my original barrel out to Patriot for reaming and throating.....around $60 or so and back in a week. Put it in and ran 350 flawless rounds thru it, no effect on accuracy......go figure....hope this helps somebody else
  3. I havent checked the websiye to see if its an option but it might be better for competition guns to get a blank grip panel and install the silicone carbide of your choosing later....
  4. I got to handle one at a gun show this weekend......a few things noticed.....its slightly heavier than I thought, apparently around 33oz. The grip texture was the chain link option which was not agressive and kind of slick like the "golf ball" feel mentioned previously. Its apparent that the texture is meant for carry and not aggressive enough for competition. The quality and component fitting is excellent, the mainspring housing blend was totally unnoticable. The slide action was very slick and tight, no roughness or play. The trigger was the flat option and probably around 5lbs but no play and very clean break. Its obviously a slim 2011 because of the machined frame finish without grip panels which is a plus for guys with average hand size. Overall I think its a winner with either glock or 320 magazine options. The price is a few hundred higher than a Rock Island 2011 or the Springfield Prodigy but well below an entry level Staccato. I think they should offer options that cater to the competition market like an aggressive grip texture, 7-8oz heavier and additional optic plates for popular RDS footprints. Its a quality piece and the custom options make it a success in my book. Not sure if they have done any torture tests yet, maybe 25k+ rds.
  5. It weighs 45.2oz.....not sure if IDPA would stick you for .2oz
  6. just got my S barrel back from Patriot.........I could NOT get this S to run at all, stock, spring changes, polishing, etc.....nothing worked. Canik sent me a new barrel and extractor spring.....EXACT same issues, FTEs all the time, ammo didnt matter , everything from 115gr to 147gr and from .011 to .015. I had nothing to lose so I sent out my original barrel....tried it today and it runs everything.....accuracy has not suffered. FINALLY

  9. its not a critical part.....as mentioned, just bend it back until it works...
  10. Ive been talking with Canik (Century) customer service trying to order some spare parts for my Rival S chrome and Im being told that parts for the S are not available yet. I wanted to order a spare extractor, some springs, etc. I think with the amount of pistols sold and out there in everyday use and competition that this is unacceptable. These are wear and tear and maintenance upkeep parts and should be in place and available BEFORE the pistol is released into circulation.......frustrating.
  11. Update......Canik sent me a new barrel. My first issue was that I had to resight my SRO with the new barrel....it was WAY off but I got it zeroed....with the stock spring setup I STILL get the stovepipes. It seems the slide isnt going far enough back or the extractor is slipping off the empty case. I get a stoppage where the empty shell is 30% out of the chamber and the new round is trying to go in....the slide is 80% of the way back when it jams. To clear it I have to lock the slide back, drop the mag and shake out the empty case....happens with different types of ammo..... wet with a 15lb recoil spring with no change, changed extractor with no change......I just cant get this POS to run.....
  12. Ghost used my chrome S to build a new holster shell.........should be on their website now....
  13. Ive tried different types......multiple grains/case types/flat nose/ball/etc..........my original SFX shoots anything with zero issues running a gen 5 G17 captive recoil spring at 13lbs. My competition ammo is Supervel 147gr. I shot a match this weekend with my old SFX and it ran flawlessly....
  14. Update.........Ive been trying to nail down my extraction issue and have been playing with springs and rods to no avail. I also changed out my extractor and spring also to no avail so it was driving me crazy. I finally tried switching barrels......I put the barrel from my old Tp9 SFX into the Rival silde.....it DOES fit BUT.....it overhangs the end of thr slide by about 1/4". Everything locks up solid and it functioned fine dry firing and racking. My old FSX has about 30k rounds through it of all denominations including alum and steel with zero issues. I shot the Rival with the SFX barrel and it functions perfectly fine....ZERO issues in 175 rds. I install my original barrel and have issues in the first 20 rds, SFX back in and another 100 rds with zero issues so its the barrel. From what Ive gathered it is a common issue with the S barrel throats being too shallow and needing reamed a tad to prevent rounds bottoming out. Ive contacted Canik so lets see what they say.....I will be shooting the Frankencanik in a match on saturday....
  15. I got it directly from Ghost since I live near their office....call and talk to Joe.
  16. I have the Pro on my Rival SF......very happy
  17. I tried to "peen" one end of mine but the pin is so hard it didnt really work and still walked out.....my SFX has around 30k thru it and the pin may be worn slightly......a new pin solved the issue.
  18. Ive been working with Ghost and have the latest Hydra-P for my Rival SF and it fits perfect with retention when needed......smooth draw and versatile if you need to tilt forward/back/left/right. Its pretty sturdy and excellent quality. Ive shot a few matches with it and it works well.....
  19. Im REALLY trying to like my Rival S.......I say that because of the following.....mods are 2.5 SRO, Freedomsmith trigger (stock trigger is also really good) Glock 17/34 guide rod with captive spring. I run 147gr ammo exclusively and have tried the 13lb recoil spring since my old SFX ran anything with it and without fail.....always. The Rival was having extraction issues every 150rds or so, the fired case would be 3/4 out of the chamber with the new round pushing it up against the slide so the slide would jam open. I checked the chamber and it IS tighter than my SFX so I polished it a tad where the empty case would drop in and tried again.....still 1-2 FTE every 150 rds or so. I then changed to an 11lb spring and had the same results with different ammo so I dont believe its ammo related. It seems to only happen when the gun gets dirty at around 150rds or so....this barrel seems to be different material than my SFX which is carbon steel? This new one is stainless perhaps but "seems" to hold the dirt more on the feed ramp and in the chamber? I will say that the stock spring runs anything, 115/124/147 however the spring is quite strong and I want to tame it a bit. The other detail is that the G17/34 rod is slightly shorter than the stock rod but fits fine. I did shoot a police combat match today and had multiple FTE over 150 total rds and I changed from the 13lb spring to the 11lb for the ast 50 rds with similar results. Its getting frustrating......I cant trust this thing enough to run a match.....next step is the Sig P320 SS rod with uncaptured springs for more versatility.....I'll try 11 thru 14 and report back....
  20. been doing it with my SRO for years....no issues
