  1. I hate to be that guy.. but after going down the sig rabbit hole and spending a bunch of money on one, I'd spend a little more up front and go with something that has a better trigger. don't get me wrong, I think sig probably has the best striker fired trigger on the market. YMMV But to answer your question, I would go with the Spectre, based on the info from sigs website it's going to be heavier which is a plus and has less reciprocating mass than an integral comp.
  2. this safety seems to have solved my malfunction issue, thanks again
  3. I carry 135 gr hydrashok, HST, or gold dot. I trust my reloads for matchs, but not for serious work
  4. https://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/benelli/shotguns-benelli/semi-auto-shotguns/m2-field this is for the m2 field
  5. double stack double feed magazines are common in submachine guns (see colt smg magazines) they are inherently more reliable and easier to load (they load like an AR mag, just push the rounds in) there have been a few pistols in history that have used the design but the reason they aren't the norm is because the top end of the pistol needs to be significantly wider to strip rounds off the left and right side of the magazine reliably. take your slide off and look at the narrow contact patch that pushes the rounds out of the magazine into the chamber. they also necessitate the upper portion of the grip to be wider, which hinders the ergonomics we like.
  6. I have a shadow 2 with the CZ custom plate system and a DPP. it has about 1000 rounds on it so far, it works great. I installed my dot properly with locktite and a torque wrench and my screws haven't budged, although I still always check them before a match. If you go that route, definitely get the steel plates. I went with CZ Custom because they're a mainstream company, they offer high quality parts and service, and they offer an iron sight plate, which is important to me. I went with a plate system because I dont want to be tied down to one mounting footprint I picked the DPP because of the glass quality/clarity, the size of the window, my previous experience with leupold, and a good warranty. It's not the most bomb proof dot, but I liked it the best. The SRO and Romeo 3Max, as well as others, have bigger windows. The one thing I don't like about the DPP is the battery life, especially since the dot has to be on its highest setting on a sunny day
  7. I've been running an A2 since I started shooting competitions a few years ago and once I got my technique down I don't feel like the gun really moves much anymore. if I remember correctly it tended to recoil up and to the right (path of least resistance like the previous post mentioned) The A2 is hard to beat in flash hider tests. I would recommend working on offhand double taps at 50 yds, that should help your issue some. although this might not be any help if you're shooting service rifle matches
  8. I leave mine in it, figure cz puts it in there for a reason. I inspect it every time I clean though, don't want it coming apart on me. shot it with and without and don't notice a huge difference YMMV
  9. thanks for the info guys, I ordered a Limcat shielded safety, I'll let you know if that solves my problem
  10. I use a Double alpha belt with a M2 ratcheting buckle and a red hill tactical holster with a BOSS drop offset hanger for my TSO. the ratchet is nice for getting that perfect tension regardless of clothing. and the knobs on the holster dont require tools to adjust tension
  11. I want it to be legal in single stack, I'm not wearing gloves, just giving a hand size reference
  12. I just got my first .45 1911, I've been having malfunctions with it for a bit, today I figured out what causes them. It's me. My firing hand thumb is riding against the slide and slowing it down enough that the next round won't fully chamber. it took about 100 rounds to test and verify that that's the issue. I wear size large gloves. Would a different safety, grips, or recoil spring help or is it a technique issue? thanks
  13. I have a Rave 140 I just got, cost about $100 on sale, I like it a lot. it compares favorably to my gold colored timney. smooth first stage to a defined wall, there is a tiny amount of creep right before the break. I also have a SSA-E, G2S, Larue whatever 2 stage, ALG ACT, & PSA EPT. For the money I'd say it's the best value of any of them. As far as performance, I'm partial to the Geiselles.
  14. I'm not saying it's always faster, note I said as long as it doesn't change my stage plan. if it makes sense to shoot a far target first, then that's what I'll do. The OP was looking for ideas with switching to a DA/SA
  15. How is the FFP Reticle on the NX8? At what magnification is the reticle usable? I had a 6-24 FFP Viper, the reticle was almost impossible to use under, if I remember correctly, 18 power. I am going to use this for a hunting scope/ some long range precision shooting (300 PRC) I am going to switch to MILS and want another NX8. thanks
  16. I wouldn't call it necessary, but I think it's faster as long as it doesn't alter my stage plan/ starting position. just like I wouldn't plan on shooting at a hostage target with the DA pull
  17. it really all depends on how crazy you're going to get with developing a load. for the first couple firings I just find a stable node and shoot them. once my barrel starts to settle in and "speed up" I'll do additional load development. to answer your first question, I would personally toss out my previous data and go looking for a node again since you're switching brass. oh, and depending on the outside temperature you're shooting in, you might look into whether you want to use magnum primers or not, since it's small pocket brass
  18. I have the Hornady Powder Cop die, it works well but you lose a spot in your press. I haven't ever had a squib while using it, when the shell plate comes up I've trained myself to only watch the that die and nothing else.
  19. I have a couple of the midway ones, they're fairly light duty but work well for paper targets/ a home range. they use inexpensive furling strips which is nice, they definitely wouldn't hold up in a match environment though
  20. BakerJD / zzt: Who makes good 2011s? I see a lot of small custom shop ones (that ive never heard of) on the used market, stacatto seems to be making only duty/ tactical ones, then there's the $8000 ones. in the 2500-3000 range would I be looking at a used STI or MPA? sorry for my newbie question
  21. my phone isn't cooperating with the quote system Joe4D: yes I'm classified B in Limited with a TSO 9MM, I'm sure I could eventually move up with practice and time. I'm admittedly looking for a short cut hence why I'm thinking about moving to major. thank you for your response
  22. my bx-25 mags have all worked flawlessly. I would clean the rifle and the mags and if that doesn't work call ruger and they'll take care of you. Ruger customer service has always been stellar in my experience, generally going above and beyond.
  23. I use a schwinn jogging stroller I got used off facebook for $20 added a set of atv gun holders to each upright from fleet farm and threw a duffle bag in the seat. holds all my stuff for 3 gun, or holds all of my friends' stuff when they come to uspsa or rifle matches. if done right it'll still fold up and I don't have to bring cases. I recommend them over pull behind carts because of the extra cost
  24. I regularly carry a Ruger LCP II, 6+1 .380 and two spare mags because it fits in my pocket. On occasion I carry a Shield Plus and one spare mag if im travelling. In the woods I carry a 686, a TSO, or a P320 Full Size depending on what im up to. Comp gun is a Shadow II with a DPP
