Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I use Safariland holsters at work and I also hate that forward cant. Here’s what I did. I got a 6072 hi ride UBL. The one I got from HolsterOps.com has oval holes so you can adjust some of the cant (The picture on the website showed round holes but the one I received had oval). Then I got the 6281 2” drop adapter, and drilled two new top holes to get more of the cant out. I used the T spacer as my guide. This will put the holster about the same height as a mid ride UBL. I like a slight amount of reverse cant and was able to get it by using this combo.
  2. Usually when there is a reduction in friction it causes lower pressures which will reduce velocity. Moly coated bullets would have a slight drop in velocity because of this. comparing just one barrel of each won't give you any real data. I've seen stainless barrels from the same manufacturer with the same length, chamber, ammo, etc, and they can give significantly different velocities. Barrels are weird like this.
  3. Wow, I cannot believe you guys didn't like the movie. I grew up on Mad Max and am a huge fan of the originals. I thought Fury Road was outstanding. Everyone I know that has seen it were blown away and loved it. There isn't any character development, but who cares? It's a Mad Max movie. It's about the craziness in the wasteland. On IMDB it has an average rating of 8.6 outta 10. That's the average out of over 150,000 people that rated it. You guys sound like a bunch of hipsters.
  4. Does anyone know the weight of the 15" rapid configuration handguard?
  5. I never had a problem with the Arredondos but I run the extra power spring. I know some guys that run the factory spring have had issues.
  6. Smiths customer service is good compared to the other companies. However, the people that answer the phones for CS don't seem to know a lot about their firearms. I would not take what they say as being 100% correct.
  7. I started a paleo diet about 5 months ago and my body fat dropped about 8% in the first 3 months. I now started doing the intermittent fasting which is easier than I thought it would be. I also went off allergy medicine for the first time in 13 years. I have an occasional cheat day and whenever I eat some bread my allergies start to flare up so it must be a gluten thing. I also went off of Nexium for good. I'd been taking it for close to ten years and now no longer need it.
  8. I always use snap caps when dry firing to avoid this. keeps me from having to replace strikers.
  9. Just contact Randy at Apex and he'll take care of you.
  10. This applies to my guns which is 1 M&P40 and 1 M&P9: The opening on the 40 slide is exactly the same as the 9mm slide. Both 9 and 40 barrels have the same external dimensions. Only difference is bore size. My M&P40 barrel will fit in my M&P9 slide and vice versa. I've measured them with calipers and there is no difference. The extracters, ejecters and every other part is the same except barrels and mags. If you look at the factory S&W parts for the M&P you will see that the same part is listed for the 9,357 and 40. The only caliber specific parts are for the 45.
  11. My M&P9 will shoot training ammo (ICC frangible) very well but doesn't shoot Gold Dot worth a shit. I can shoot about a 1.5" 10 shot group at 15 yards with the frangible but Gold Dot is more like 3-4".
  12. I just read on another forum that G&R Tactical has some of the new M&Ps with the improved trigger. My link isn't working, but Grant from G&R said it is an improvement over the previous triggers. He didn't mention what the changes are internally but Grant will post what S&W used when he gets a chance to take one apart.
  13. I've read on a couple other forums about the M&P possibly getting a trigger upgrade this summer. Anyone have any intel on this? []
  14. Your talking about auto-forwarding. M&Ps are known for this. Some guys love this about M&Ps and others hate it. One of the problems with auto forwarding is that it may not always pick up a round leaving you with an empty chamber. It's happened to me a few times and some other M&P shooters I know. If it will consistenly pick up a round then it probably is no big deal but one of my M&Ps wouldn't. I sent it back to S&W and they installed a new slide stop. Now my gun no longer auto forwards and to me that's a good thing.
  15. I only know of a small handful of shooters that don't have to flip the gun to reach the mag release. I never saw it as a problem. I shoot an M&P but every pistol I've ever shot I have to flip the gun to hit the mag release. I also insert the new mag before I bring the gun back into firing position. This way I can reach the slide release (I have small hands). I use my support hand to help line the gun back up into a firing grip. I don't think about any of that at all it just happens. Lots of practice. I have pretty speedy mag changes so it doesn't hurt anything. Trying to hit the mag release with the support thumb I think would be very awkward and slower.
